OK, seriously, what's up with Wormadam, Wormadam-G, and Wormadam-S? This is even worse than deciding that the RS Deoxys ought to not have a letter suffix.

Just for reference, the types are Bug / Grass, Bug / Ground, and Bug / Steel.

Now, I don't really have any horses in this race, considering I'll likely never use Wormadam, but this kind of thing annoys me regardless, so as long as they all have a letter suffix, I'm OK with whatever. However, I have an idea for the naming scheme.

Wormadam-P
Wormadam-I
Wormadam-E

Wormadam-I can be alternately Wormadam-S

P is for Plant, I is for Iron, E is for Earth, and S is for Steel. Ground and Grass both start with Gr, and Gra vs. Gro isn't that good. Plant and Earth fixes that. Using Iron over Steel means they all have, as Amazing Ampharos called them "cloak names", so it's more consistent. :toast: Iron also, as I'm sure some of you noticed, allows you to spell out PIE.

If this isn't acceptable, just as long as we don't have one of them as Wormadam and the others as Wormadam-<stuff>, I'm fine.

The cloak names would be plant, sandy, and trash so:

Wormadam-p
Wormadam-s
Wormadam-t

Of course, a nice, consistent naming system works regardless of what words we use.

Hardly significant to me, but cute, who doesn't like pie. It may be useful to UU or NU, whatever its in, players though. I still don't understand what the problem with the original were though? G seems a bit iffy but S seems allright and what was the last one?

The problem is that Bug / Grass was referred to as just "Wormadam". It needs a suffix.

Sandy for Ground is that S is also Steel. That would create more confusion.

What is so wrong with:
Wormadam-Grass
Wormadam-Ground
Wormadam-Steel

Do we really need to abbreviate the type? Is an extra four or five letters just too much to handle?

I agree. Just spell it out fully instead of making things confusing for a 9 year old.

just spell them out, not to much of a problem, and it prevents misunderstandings. there are indeed childeren coming here who don't understand the logics behind this. got me confused at first too>.<

I think that P(for plant) G(for ground) and I(for Iron) is good. it's only slightly change from obis

Also, It's funny that yours obi spelled PIE while mine spelled PIG XD

Wormadam GRS
Wormadam GND
Wormadam STL

3 letter abreviations solves this as well/

You could even do:

Wormadam GS
Wormadam GD
Wormadam ST (ST, sounds better than SL)

Or even

W-Parasect
W-Nincada
W-Forretress

OK, not that.

But that spells PIE, and it sounds like an acronym a retarded 9-year-old would think was funny.

Pie and cheese are not funny.

Well, I feel kinda silly naming pokemon I won't use ever, but heres my 2 cents

According to color:

Wormadam G [green]
Wormadam Y [yellow]
Wormadam P [pink]

OR

According to Pokedex classification:

Wormadam P [plant]
Wormadam S [sandy]
Wormadam T [trash]

Now that Obi mentioned it, Deoxys, since we have access to all 4 in any version, should we call 'em Deoxys, A[attack], D[defense], S[speed] instead of Deoxys,FR,LG,E ?

We already do. Although what I once wanted to be called Deoxys-RS now doesn't really fit with that name...

Also I was unaware that the Pokedex actually gave them the names Plant, Sandy, and Trash.

I just call them Wormadam (the Bug/Grass one), Wormadam-G (the Bug/Ground one), and Wormadam-S (the Bug/Steel one).

Havn't Serebii.net forums implemented Plant/Sandy/Trash, cos its on their trade forum.
Meh who cares rly, it's fine as it was & its not like Wormadam is greatly used.

ok, I wish someone actually contacted me about this thread because if we change the names I have to change the dex and a few other things. So, please come to a consensus and Obi report back to me what that consensus is.

Note that it might be optimal to actually have one named "Wormadam" so if people search for that Pokemon or type it in the address bar it wont 404.

Hmm...would it be best to attach a poll, then? The current method vs PIE vs PSE?

I would expect it to be the official names (PST) since no one can complain about that unless they are really, really poor choices.

About the one of them being just plain Wormadam thing... that wouldn't be that hard to work around, would it?

PST is my vote, as well. I think it's best to use the in-game descriptors whenever they're provided, for consistency's sake.

Would it be too hard to have a disambiguation page for 'Wormadam'?
