XY OU Analysis Reservation Index - READ CAREFULLY (MAKING A NEW THREAD)

We're discussing, don't worry. Don't revamp Espeon yet in case people think it's viable on those 3 mon chains (keep screens ofc).
 
if 3 mon chains are a thing (PLEASE tell me they're not) someone else can just write up a set about it, since i have no experience with them and the set would likely be different (both the set itself and usage tips and stuff). for now i'll just revamp it and remove the bp set.
 
Unfortunately 3 mon chains will still be a thing for those insistent on sticking with baton pass, for the most part it will die out but it's still something we have to consider. That's the option we chose in terms of nerfing baton pass :[
 
Just cleared out some crap about Ariados. Guess I have to make something clear:

Virtually everything that is/could be OU-viable has an analysis already. If you still think something is worthy of an analysis, it must be backed with at least 10 high-quality replays, and you must thoroughly explain why this Pokemon is viable in OU, AND thoroughly analyze why it is worth using over other Pokemon in OU with similar roles/typing. If you cannot do all three of these things in a complete manner, then don't post about a Pokemon that doesn't have an analysis.
 
I can do the Specially Defensive Rotom-W write-up :) Is it gonna be just the set and it's analysis, which is gonna be included in the other Rotom-W analysis, or a thread of it's own (like an enitre analysis)?

Haha I browsed through the index quickly and I didn't find it :) I'll see if theres something i can spot in it.
 
I've been given permission to revamp Infernape, due to it still having a good niche over Keldeo and Landorus in terms of easier time handling Mega Venusaur and Mandibuzz, two prominent Pokemon in stall and sometimes balance teams. Another great niche Infernape has is its access to Mach Punch, allowing it to revenge kill many Pokemon Landorus and Keldeo can't such as +1 Mega Tyranitar, +1 Mega Gyara, Bisharp, Greninja, and any low health Pokemon that can outspeed it. Finally, it's option to use Grass Knot allows it to be a much bigger terror to stall teams, thanks to the ability to switch up moves and beat common stall Pokemon such as Quagsire and Hippowdon. For this reason, I find it reasonable for me to take Infernape.
 
I'd like to revamp Mega Venusaur
It's defensive spreads could be updated, there's an entire mixed spread (252 hp/192 def/64 sdef calm takes 2 keldeo hp fly while taking the minimum from stone edge from terrak and play rough from drum azu for a mixed defensive set) and the specially offensive set needs to be put over defensive (idk about this, I barely play offense and this seems like a bold move but this is what most offensive players are saying).

Also idk if thedeafelectrician hasn't been on for 10 days and hasn't updated the victini thread in 19 days so if he's really giving it up, I want to take it over pls
 
on the same note, can i take over thedeafelectrician's Vaporeon since he / she hasn't been on in ages? i'll just be implementing cyclic's changes and the gp check

right so i wanna give the legendary manta ray some justice

ctc (among many other credible players) have been using mantine effectively for quite some time. it checks keldeo, lando-i (huge), zard-y, non-sd/sub aegis, and, well, special attackers in general. it also has good synergy with defensive cores and can offer defog / haze support, which is obvs very useful. it only faces competition with blissey, slowking, and cresselia, which lack a good amount of the aforementioned assets. i'm too lazy to ladder with it myself but there are plenty of logs showing mantine doing mad work (such as this one and this one).

yo mantine users, back me up :O

I've used mantine quite a bit for defog support and such, but in lower tiers like RU and NU. That is definitely where it shines as a good specially defensive tank, IMO - not OU. There are so many better options to check those listed threats, and mantine just doesn't have a place in the OU metagame with the various electric types such as the rotom forms, thundurus, mega manectric, raikou, etc. Sure, it does a decent job of handling special attackers like Landorus-I, but it's way too niche for it.

That's not its only purpose. It's the combination of being able to check all of the aforementioned threats PLUS access to multiple support options. I can respect that its typing isn't ideal in a tier with a variety of Electric-type threats, but, let's be real here: Can you honestly say that stall can't afford to give these mons a chance of switch in? Between Toxic, Scald, and other teammates (not to mention that no relevant Electric-type has access to a reliable means of healing), the examples you'd provided will get worn down fast and thus won't require unnecessary attention to keep in check.

Zapdos doesn't really check stuff like lando-i, especially CM. Zapdos also cannot check or counter zard-y in the slightest, and loses to specs keldeo too, so I really don't see the comparison here ?_?
Haze is sorta irrelevant (screw bp) but Defog is a pretty big asset that clears up a moveslot for skarm, and unlike Zapdos, Mantine isn't total garbage at defogging. Ok Zap isn't taht bad but Zap is pretty shit there are SO many stealth rockers that Zapdos straight up loses to or cannot beat; out of all the rock setters in the tier it literally only forces out ferrothorn, skarm, and....pinsir. Mantine actually threatens garchomp and other stuff with a potential scald burn.
Finally, there aren't that many electric types in the tier in the first place, and every one of them except thundurus is outstandingly weak. Megaman and raikou pose no threat to stall whatsoever, i mean forget chansey, quagsire is enough to stop a large majority of them. Rotom-W is annoying, but its annoying to a lot of stall teams anyway, and its not like rotom-w has an incredibly easy time switching in between toxic and scald burns. Besides, if its restochesto, then that's even nicer cuz pain split imo is what makes rotom-w annoying in the first place. So its really not too difficult to just nail the rotom-w with a well timed toxic and call it a day.
In terms of synergy, venu tran actually fits pretty well with this guy, or the otehr way around. Mons like keld, cahr-y, and lando which break venu tran are stopped cleanly by mantine, and a nice fwg core is thus formed. Definitely not too much of a hindrance to teammates.

So yeah mantine is a stronk check to char-y, keldeo, and Lando-i, so consider for analysis :]
