Your Favorite Underrated Pokes.

Jumpluff is really underrated... fastest and argueably best encorer. great subseeder, and even has double powder to top it all off!

Hitmonchan's another quirky little choice that deserves a little more respect. Focus Punch from this guy is monstrous...I have OHKO'd Skarmory with it on many an occassion. And unlike his kicking bretheren he has a way to flatten Gliscor with Iron Fist Expert Belt Ice Punch. He struggles with Ghosts, but honestly, I love the guy.

A 150 attack + STAB Adamant + 252 EVs attack + CB + Iron Fist + Prediction = a pokemon killed most of the time. Hitmonchan is great. a Mach Punch with CB also hurts.
Probopass is very underrated too. 2 big weakness yeah, but a lot of resistances, and it traps Magnezone, Skarmory and CB not Earthquakes from MEtagross.

Floatzel. Credit to fast taunting BPers who can boost their defenses. :D Seriously, you basically have to let this thing stat up, and pass in your face, while you're Taunted...

I third the notion that Relicanth is brilliant. I used it on a Rain Dance team, it was awesome. It cleaned up all the messes Kingdra (who is also awesome) left behind.

Anyways, I'm going to go with Toxicroak here. Swords Dance + Sucker Punch is deadly. The only thing it hates is Infernape, Lucario, and Weavile, but after two Swords Dances it does around 60% to Infernape and Weavile, and if Lucario doesn't have Psychic it usually can take a hit thanks to its Dark / Fighting resistances and KO with Cross Chop. I used it on a Brock-themed team and it swept quite a bit.

Ehh, with decent prediction Toxicroak destroys the three of them. Just stick Focus Punch or Cross Chop on Toxicroak, and predict if they're going to stat-up or attack. Fighting move if they stat-up, and Sucker Punch if they attack. Weavile dies to the fighting move because of a 4x weakness, Infernape gets OHKOed after a swords dance from it, and Lucario gets OHKOed even before thanks to a fighting weakness.

Remember, with Focus Punch/Sucker Punch on the same moveset, it's very hard for the opponent to make a good move since they have to fear Sucker Punch if they attack, and they have to fear Focus Punch if they do anything else. It's quite evil, but it is funny as hell for the person doing it. :P

Infernape, lucario and weavile resist sucker punch, so they can just hit toxicroak directly without the fear of sucker punch.

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Bold
212 HP / 118 DEF / 180 SDEF
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Protect
- Roar

Everyone always uses a "Bulky Water" set on him, which is done better by countless other Water types, or sticks some attack moves on him, which he sucks at using with his base 83/85 attacking stats. This set has proven very useful for me, and catches many Thunderbolters who think they'll score an easy KO off guard. He can take a choice'd Outrage from Garchomp and throw it right back for a OHKO. Roar punishes stat uppers and subbers, so they're pretty much forced to attack. Protect stalls for Leftovers recovery and eases prediction.

im gona go with jumpluff of hypno.

jumpluff has a really fast double powder, it can set up a reflect, and then u turn on out of danger, leaving you opponent crippled.

hypno makes and awesome sp wall. he now has nasty plot and after one or two of those, it becomes a beast

Quaggy. He's a really cool Pokemon. He may come off as a mini-Swampert, but he can put other Pokemon to sleep and switch into Water attacks.

I also like
dpiconani297.gif
, he's a really neat support Pokemon.

I'm going to go with...

Floatzel and Raikou. Well, Raikou isn't necessarily underrated (Hitmontop is used more than it...), but it can rip apart an unprepared team easily. Floatzel, well, it's almost impossible to keep it from passing at least something.

Another ones is Masquerain, intimidate is really quite useful, and it gets quite a bit of coverage.
Masquerain@choice scarf
Modest Intimidate
-Air Slash
-Bug Buzz
-Energy Ball
-Hydro Pump/Ice Beam

A choice scarf fixes its terrible speed, as a lead, this pokemon can do quite a bit of damage.

Basically, this is a thread for your favorite underrated pokes and the set's you use. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

My Nominee:
dpffa478.png

Froslass.

Seriously underrated, this thing makes a brilliant lead with :

[SET]
name: Destiny Bonder
move 1: Destiny Bond
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Shadow Ball
move 4: Taunt
item: Focus Sash

nature: Timid
evs: 6 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SpAtk

The whole game plan here is to stab away with Ice Beam and Shadow Ball until you're low enough on health to quickly destiny bond for the OHKO. Taunt can stop anything you think may stop you.

Right guys, your turn.

I was going to post here, but I would like to point out to the entire everybody that Frosslass is a worse Gengar. Stop pretending it has a redeeming quality over him, as every stat is worse and STAB Ice Beam can't make up for that. Please stop thinking that he is a threat in any circumstance. Gengar can even do Sash lead better with Counter for Weaville. Also, no one is allowed to use the word "brilliant" on their own sets. "Good" maybe if it is. "Brilliant", never.
That being said, Empoleon seems really forgotten, but I prefer him over Blissey on my more offensively-minded teams since Empoleon actually has offensive power.

Other things include the entire BL tier which will probably be entirely represented here soon.

Since mamo is BL or something along those lines...or so I'm told...

Mamoswine is my favorite. I never make a team without him now, he's just such a sweeping machine with curse and ice shard. Anything not named Skarmory eats it.

i wouldn't say that. froslass has spikes and T wave. both are valuable. gengar also has to rely on HP ice as it doesn't have ice beam/blizzard. you know how much trouble a froslass gives a typical bissey? gengar is still better of course, but i think you're not doing froslass any justice here.

on a separate note, rotom has caught my attention now. might just try a choice specs, trick rotom on my next team.

So what you're saying is, Spikes, Thunder Wave, STAB Ice Beam to go with Boltbeam, immunity to hail (+Evade boost in Hail), and resistance to Ice Beam are not redeeming qualities. HP Ice from Gengar is inferior to Ice Beam from Froslass, nevermind Blizzard which is equal to or better than Gengar's Sludge Bomb as far as damaging, setting aside of course that Poison is a crap offensive type.

So you would argue then, that Gengar is a better choice on a Hail team?

Furthermore, you forgot that Froslass is always female, what with your "he" talk. Perhaps you should examine a pokemon before you deem it meritless over some other option, especially when it fits much better in some teams than others.

Oh yeah, Froslass also has better HP/Def than Gengar, not that it matters much from a practical perspective.

Anyway, Moft's Blastoise set is really bad. This is the Blastoise I run and it kicks ass:

Blastoise @ Leftovers:
~ Surf
~ Rapid Spin
~ Toxic
~ Mirror Coat

It's function is to spin. It Toxic's non Gengar ghosts, generally ruining their tanking ability, and Mirror Coats special attackers. The only Ghosts it has a problem dealing with are SubPunch Gar and Sub+CM Mismagius.

Mawile @ Shucca Berry / Leftovers
Impish
252 HP / 252 Defense
(Intimidate)

Swords Dance
Iron Head
Ice Fang
Sucker Punch

With Intimidate, decent physical defense, steel type, Ice Fang, and Shucca Berry Mawile can defeat most physical OU Dragons one on one with Ice Fang + Sucker Punch. Though it shouldn't be used in OU except for fun.

In UU it can switch into physical attacks it resists and laugh the damage off. Swords Dance + Sucker Punch = dead stuff.

Shucca Berry = OU/BL
Leftovers = UU/NU

Also its cute! Aww...

Jumpluff is really underrated... fastest and argueably best encorer. great subseeder, and even has double powder to top it all off!

True, jumpluff is probably one of the more underrated grass pokemon, he is speedy enough to sub seed (after sleep powder that is) and he still looks good unlike tangrowth >.>
Statwise jumpluff is outclassed by sceptile but sceptile doesnt learn any attacks that causes stat ailments

Ehh, with decent prediction Toxicroak destroys the three of them. Just stick Focus Punch or Cross Chop on Toxicroak, and predict if they're going to stat-up or attack. Fighting move if they stat-up, and Sucker Punch if they attack. The problem with that is if they come in on Swords Dance or for a revenge-kill and don't take damage, they outspeed me, take little from Sucker Punch without many boosts, and usually pack a move to KO. Fire moves from Infernape wreck it thanks to Dry Skin, SpecsLuke has Psychic and Swords Dance Lucario sometimes has Extremespeed (in which case Sucker Punch makes no difference), and Weavile, well, Weavile sometimes has Aerial Ace, or can Ice Punch a weakened Toxicroak.

The moveset I use is Swords Dance / Poison Jab / Cross Chop / Sucker Punch @ Focus Sash. The problem is that I'm walled by Gliscor and Weezing, but eh, oh well, Stone Edge wouldn't help that much.

Suicune, Shaymin, Cradily, Umbreon, Slaking, Roserade and Clefable aren't really underrated.

Definitely one of the most underrated pokemon is technician Hitmontop. As a late game sweeper, it is incredible. It's one of the main staples on my team, that is currently ranked #4 on Shoddy, and rising.

Hitmontop@Life Orb
ability: technician
Bullet Punch
Mach Punch
Fake Out
Close Combat

Fake out + mach punch generally do a minimum of 50% to any poke that is sent out against me late game. Think about that for a second; 50% guaranteed damage. Bullet Punch is for Heracross, Gengar and Roserade.

Close Combat gives me a strong move to hit the opponent on the switch, or more importantly, ohko the excessively used Blissey.

This is such a clutch pokemon, I have no idea why people don't use it. The only two pokes that really give it trouble are Cresselia and Zapdos.

Skarm, Hippowdon and Donphan are all hit pretty hard on the switch, and if I have my spikes/stealth rocks down and they are hurt from before, as is the case 90% of the time late game with me, a close combat finishes them.

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Trait: Trace
EVs: 164 HP / 228 Def / 116 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic/Thunder Wave

Obviously, Porygon2's usage has dropped dramatically as opposed to PorygonZ. Among fans, Porygon2 will always be the cooler evolution, but by the masses, Porygon2 is completely shrugged off.

Perhaps I'm a sucker for the novelty uses of Trace, but 352HP / 300Def (my old Advance spread, though 368HP / 275Def is suggested in the analysis) isn't by any means anything to be laughing at. This guy can seriously be the bane of many a physical attacker if played properly, though in Advance play I would run Thunder Wave over Toxic in order to spread paralysis and recover accordingly. Thunder Wave appears to be more of a liability in D/P, that said, however.
