You've talked about good and bad moments, but what about your weirdest?

Back in 2022, I hatched a shiny Togepi with Serene Grace from the egg Cynthia gives you in Platinum, and straight up didn't realize it was shiny for a week or two because of how similar its shiny is to the untrained, non-shiny hunters eye. It wasn't until I was going through my PC boxes out of sheer boredom one day that I noticed the red star on its summary lmao. I'd say that was a pretty weird moment, retroactively finding a legit shiny in my PC box without expecting it.

Still havent trained it or anything though. I've been meaning to EV train it & give it a good moveset just for fun, but I don't really know what runs well on a Togekiss as I've never really used one outside of the main story.

Maybe that time I helped a friend trade their Pokémon from one Gen 4 game to another Gen 4 game and I sent in a Mew. The trade crashed in the middle of it and when both games were booted back up they both ended up having that same Mew. The Mew was cloned. I completely forgot what the other Pokémon was but I don't think it was relevant.

mitosis (illegal)

One of my very first shinies was a Nidoran Female caught in Leafgreen's Safari Zone (which sadly I evolved despite Nidoqueen looking like shit, because child me had to evolve every single mon he used). I'm positive I even threw a rock at it before catching it first ball. All the time I was kinda chill too, despite already knowing what a shiny was as it wasn't my first one.

That's absolutely crazy to me. If it happened nowadays I would be constantly panicking about what to do and be annoyed forever if it escaped.

I have always been curious about this because the exact same thing happened to a friend of mine who managed to clone his Torterra, and back then for little children without internet that was crazy because it was our only way to get another starter Pokemon. All he did was turning off the game during the trade.

But for some reason when he tried with me it didn't work and only I got the Torterra. I may even still have it. Point is that I don't get what is exactly the trigger for this to work because I saw it happen the other times with the exact same method. I had Diamond and he had Pearl, dunno if it works in other Gen 4 games.

Yeah same for me, my case with Mew only happened once and we couldn't figure out how to make it work again

One of the strangest battles I’ve ever seen in which a garden-variety trainer used multiple different cases of switch logic in the same battle.

Rising Star Rhys on Kalos Route 8, carrying a Pancham, Goldeen, and Skiddo.

I lead off with Honedge against the Pancham. I switch out to Flabébé as Rhys switches into Goldeen, since Pancham is unable to touch Honedge.

Flabébé uses Razor Leaf, Goldeen uses Water Pulse and confuses.

I decide to switch out to Ivysaur, but Rhys switches Goldeen into Skiddo, using the ability switch logic to bait into Sap Sipper.

Weirdest hm...as someone who used to know every Pokemon by cry, so if friend played it and didn't show I could still identify the mon, it was REALLY weird to me that I didn't know mawile, even pre mega mawile, instantly. This is my weirdest I recall. Oh no wait, I thought zygarde was gen 5 cause idk lol, was searching a late game gen 5 cave rofl. Embarrassing stuff, I usually don't forget game stuff, even recalling plenty of mon's exact base stats, for certain stats.

I mean other than that not a whole bunch comes to mind. I feel at times 100 acc moves might missed without modifiers or anything, but I could easily have imagined those.

Also weird is attract in the main games intermittently being op when it's crap for when it counts
