I've got mixed feelings on Trunade and Heavy Storm.

Why Royal Oppression? I hate playing against it but I don't think it should be banned...
 
oppression banned? this is definitely the wrong choice if there was any chance of making this game better in the next few months. i guess that's not what they want to do...
 
a cursory glance tells me that this is the absolute best list in years

however the fact that a deck can run 3 judgment dragons 3 chaos sorcerers and a bls is kind of insane?????? i doubt most of you remember just how absurd bls is but yeah its kind of unreasonable
 
I LOVE the list. I really like Heavy Storm back. The problem with Trunade is that it's too much of an OTK card. There was no disadvantage to setting a full backrow because you never had to be scared of Heavy Storm, and the only thing you really had to be worried about is some strange tech card like Royal Flush.

Fishborg to 0 is great. Fish synchro and XYZ was broken. I don't really like the Oppression ban but I suppose XYZs need some kind of leeway.

BLS to 1 is interesting. The only reason anyone would use Chaos Sorcerer now is probably for Synchro or XYZ material (are there any good level 6 XYZs?)

Debris to 1 is good. Lonefire to 1 is good. I approve of Librarian and Formula limits, as well as Shien. Avarice to 1? Interesting.

I guess the only things I'm iffy on in this list is CotH to 2 and Icarus back to 3. Grave Blackwing is still super-strong in the OCG and now they've just got a buff.

Agents should be tier 1. Most versions of Chaos should be strong - maybe Dark World Fabled.
 
3 MST and Heavy? 3 JD? BLS back? No hit on GKs (all I want is Royal Tribute limited or banned)? Fishborg banned (it is a bad card design but it wasn't doing anything really)? Don't like this list at all.

I like the hit on Sams and Plants though. Nothing over the top but it messes with them a fair bit. I was talking about running Blackwings before the banlist, and now with Blackwings getting no nerfs and getting Icarus to 3, I may still do it. But if others get the same idea I'll just be running with the flock, which isn't fun at all.
 
Fishborg wasn't doing anything? It's the driving engine for fish synchro, which is incredibly frustrating to play against. There was almost no counter to it, tbh.

My friend plays Fish Synchro so I'm happy it's banned just to laugh in his face, but that deck is so inconsistent it's ridiculous. No back row, relies on one card, and it is stopped cold by most monster destruction traps, so in turn it also relies on Trunade (now Storm). It hasn't topped any events IIRC, so why should it be hit?

EXACTLY my reaction. at first i thought the list was the second coming of christ but fuck man, lightsworns are going to be gay. 2 trag, 2 necro, bls and 3 jd .... 5 mother fucking boss monsters all of which are the best removal monsters in the game. also without the new priority rule .. WHAT THE FUCK
 
yeah im probably going to be maining kycoo in almost everything.

on one hand its not that problematic because it's a horribly one-dimensional deck that loses to the now-incredible starlight road among myriad other things, but on the other hand that tunnelvision-friendly aspect appeals to average/shitty players and its kind of shitty for the game when potentially broken decks work just as well in their hands as they do in the hands of good players!

plant engine survived and can still be spashed in things like zombies. lonefire to 1 hardly matters with 3 tour guide + sangan. what really hurt its herp derp is the limitation of formula.

heavy storm, 3 mst, dark hole, and other power cards make gorz a staple imo.

i hate oppresion, but i question the ban when they unlimited mst. doesnt make much sense.

agents, ls, and chaos got a lot of boost. i absolutely love this ban list. its gonna be one heck of a format. oh, dont forget rabbit is in the next set. :o
 
i was hoping karakuri to become a tier deck with the list, but instead we saw a power creep rather than the usual neutering. shame.

just happy i have 6 tour guides and can make whatever the hell i want.
 
to be honest we may start seeing a lot of steelswarm roach now just to deal with chaos/LS/hyperion.

ragia will obviously still be very strong

don't be so quick to dismiss this as a twilight format since xyzs have the potential to be just as crazy, esp. with rabbit

gorz has always been a staple

before tour guide came out i firmly believed that gorz was the best card in the game. no single card can turn the tide of the game as heavily as gorz can. one of the most fundamentally simple practices of yugioh is, if you have no answer to gorz, dont attack into it. life points are not the most important thing. most people dont realize easy shit like this.

ycs rhode island, prime example. round 2 im playing some average samurai player. game 1 i go first, set a monster, his turn he elder/asceticisms into kagemusha into shien, then kageki kagemusha into second shi en, swing over sangan, swing into gorz. he had no answer to it, i won with just gorz. game 2 on turn 3 or 4 he makes an awful and unnecessary grandmaster poke, i drop gorz, he has no answer, loses again.

it sounds hyperbolic but i actually could have 2-0'd him both games with a hand of gorz and 5 vanilla level 1s. card is unbelievable.
 
heavy backrow doesnt interfere with gorz, if your dprisons and shit arent getting used then that means youre in a good spot, and gorz is there to fuck them out once they finally whittle down the backrows

the only thing that interferes with gorz is lingering call/limit, but even that can be rectified with cheeky brio plays. bottomless did too but bottomless fell into disuse
 
well if your back row and shit are doing work, then theres really no reason to run gorz.
by then youve already depleted your opponent's resources and should already be beating face with your own monsters anyway. like gks for example.
 
thats not true at all lol

gks dont run gorz because you cant drop it with necrovalley. gorz works better if you have added backrow support, you hit them with one for ones until the game is so simplified that gorz just completely overpowers them.

gorz when the game state is 2/2 in terms of resources is infinitely more gamebreaking than gorz when when the game state is 5/5

hell i run gorz in my falcon beat deck with 19 traps and triple limit/call of the haunted and it still goes off almost all the time
 
well ok then staple is a stupid term, thats like saying monster reborn isnt a staple because gks dont run it

you said certain changes in this list make gorz a staple, but none of those changes would make gks run it so i guess its still not a staple lol
 
urgh, i knew it would head towards this. lol

ive always hated the "staple" argument because of that exactly. lulz X deck doesnt run X card so its not a staple when the rest do. i concur. i dont even know why i started.

i said that because with more destruction cards, fields will be left empty a lot more often.
 
A staple is a card that is ran in 9/10 decks.
i.e- main staples in Adv.
MST
Sangan
dark hole
monster reborn
heavy storm
Solemn (ethier one but most decks have one.)
Gorz is useless in GK due ot the fact that GK goes off you usaly win and all you need is another turn.

Fishborg was banned along with the limitation f T.G and the limit of Accel making the new card to come out Qusar Dragon not as broken as it is.

Six sam got hit but konami doesn't like auto play decks.
Tengu got hit for the fact that it really doesn't require a brain to run.
3 JD really isnt that bad when grave control is around.
Twilight gt a huge boost in BLS but he's not as broken as he was back then.
Debris to one makes the game less board clearing (black rose dragon into BLS+ JD on the same turn = gg)
