There were 4th gen evolutions to 3rd and 2nd gen Pokemon, so I think that trend will continue.Steeler said:

But really, that is probably the easiest way to have "new" pokemon, using old designs and making them "evolved."
I think a Mightyena evolution would be awesome.
Well, it does have a really thin waist, thats a bit girly if you ask me :)
If it is a completely new pokémon I really hope it doesn't remind to much of Lucario cause then it would just feel a bit uncreative :/ (If its related to Riolu/Lucario it feels more "okay" xD).
A badass Werewold or some sleek fox would be pretty nice. As for typing, I'd say fighting/dark for werewolf and fire/psysic for sexy fox.
@Blasphemy1: Most cartoon girls have small waist as far as I know. xD Also pokémon don't get pregnant, the egg just appear at the day care and no one knows how :(

Fire/Psychic Ninetales evo would be so cool. It's tails have been tied up?
Too bad the typing itself would just be troublesome for the li'l fox. In a way, it's like Kimba crossed with a Werehog, in my opinion, at least.
And people wonder why Pokémon's mostly fetish fuel for furries...
Ehh, in a way. Psychic + Fire + Grass (Energy Ball) gets acceptable offensive coverage, however.
2x weak to SR and Pursuit-bait fails pretty hardcore, though.

Yeah, I doubt it would be a Ninetales evolution though. While it vaguely makes sense, foxes don't typically stand upright, which is why I hope it is a wolf thing.
The werewolf Pokemon was probably made so it could replace Lucario in Super Smash Bros. 4. The fact that they are hyping and revealing a wolf-like Pokemon this early means that it will generally take the role Lucario filled in Gen IV and will be a similarly-playing replacement for Lucario on the Super Smash Bros. 4 roster.
Lol I wouldn't be suprised if they make pokemon from actual objects like they did with the Rotom formes. I mean, they got most of the animals already right? Perhaps some sort of fire Lion would be cool though.
There are only 493 Pokemon so far... Even if they were all animals, that's no where close to all of Animalia, even if we're only talking about visually distinct species. Plus, that's not even factoring things like Ghost and Plant-types, along with the Steel and Fire types. There's plenty of stuff to keep working from for years and years to come.

I have to agree with this.. I think its a new Pokemon. Not an Evolution or of another forme.
All that was said about it was that it's the "star" of the next Pokemon Movie, Phantom Champion Z, in Japan and that it's actual appearance is going to be revealed next time, and that's it. Since it's the star of the next movie though, and the star of practically all of the movies so far (with the exception of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, since Lucario isn't a legendary and Mew had appeared before) have been distinct Legendary Pokemon. So, it's a pretty safe bet to say that this Pokemon is a completely new Legendary and isn't some new form of a Pokemon we already know about or a split-evo of one or anything (and no, Shaymin Sky-Forme doesn't count, since both of its forms were officially revealed just prior to the movie, and Shaymin as a whole, and not one of its forms in particular, was the star of that movie). Of course, this isn't certain, but it's a pretty safe-bet nonetheless.
I really don't think it'll be a 3rd-evolution of Lucario. If it's part of the Lucario line it'll be an alternate evolution of Riolu, given the fact that to become Lucario it must evolve during the day and this creature looks like a werewolf. Plus Lucario was hyped so much, I don't think they can really give it an evolution.
