Coincidentally, it could be a good idea to post in the thread. As we all know, if you're ACTUALLY Carnage, you're a confirmed villager.

what will inspector do? He will just confirm that i am Carnage and then mafia kills him next night.

and if i'm not the real carnage, then why doesn't the real one claim? (though time zones could effect this)
 
J-man, the thing is that I'm wary of macle asking for claims this early in the game. In fact, the only reason to ask for claims this early in the game is to hope that a few idiots tell you their role and allegiance. Though I may be wary of reachzero wanting to be village leader, at least he is only asking to be cleaned instead of asking for claims.

The biggest problem I see with this is that Carnage is not necessarily a trustworthy character even as a known villager. A character that is a member of a village faction can be counted on to try to win with that faction, they are at least predictable. Carnage is one of the least predictable or reliable characters in all of fiction, and I have time seeing even a confirmed "Carnage" as completely trustworthy. Ideally I would like to see a member of each of the village factions assume joint leadership of the village working together, with any cross-faction bickering (if any turns out to be required by the rules of the game) done in the endgame once the mafia has been neutralized. I don't really expect anyone to trust me before my identity is confirmed, but if I am confirmed, then I am really a better choice than Carnage to lead the village simply because Carnage himself is much too unpredictable a character for his role to be safely trusted. Of course, you could easily argue that anyone in my faction would be just as good a choice as I am, and it would be true. However, I know what I'm doing, and I'm more than willing to submit to being checked before I try to take charge!

Edit: by the way, my faction's win condition does not seem to be explicitly opposed to any village faction, though I suppose it is possible that such things could change later in the game based on factors that I don't currently know about, of course.

Why do you not want to be inspected, macle? If you wish to lead the village, I would want to be cleaned. If you were village, you would have no problem being cleaned. And besides, no one is going to claim to anybody who is not confirmed clean. Just seems weird to me...

EDIT: I'm not saying we can trust reachzero yet, but all he wants is to be cleaned, he is not asking for claims. That's why I ask all not to claim until one of them is confirmed. We will see what morning brings...

Because it would be a waste. Dubulous basically said Carnage (presumably macle) was a villager; why would we have reason to doubt him?

However, I agree with reachzero. Carnage could have his own agendas for all I know. I would rather trust a person cleaned by an inspector than an uncleaned macle, but I would also rather trust macle than nobody.

A fair point, I must admit. All we can do is wait to see what Day 1 brings, and then we can see who to trust, and who not to.
 
Honestly, no offense to either macle or reachzero, I would rather have someone who is a villager lead versus a neutral. I support macle at the moment, solely based upon who they claim to be; however, I suggest whoever leads to be cleaned by an inspect first. Luckily, there are no night 0 kills, so both of you will be alive.

I am intrigued on the dynamics of the village and mafia factions. Are the Sinister 12 and the Carnage Squad directly allied or allied by common enemy. What about the Avengers and Slingers? What about Carnage's direct role with the village and Spiderman's role with the mafia? I'm interested in seeing that play out.

I agree, it will be very interesting to see how things play out. I also wonder how the groups are aligned, like you. It will be a good game, that's for sure!

Hi everyone, just posting for activity.

I think everyone pretty much agrees that there isn't much to be done right now.

I really don't wanna have my first mafia end with a scum win guys, so lets do this!

@ macle: Aren't there bodyguards in like every mafia ever? If an inspector confirms you are carnage and is then guarded then mafia (probably) can't kill him. Even better, they are unlikely to target someone who admits to being inspector because every village-aligned bg will be on him immediately. I am not saying the inspector should do that, because usually it is better if they wait until they actually have info to claim.

I guess it comes down to if we want a clean leader or if we want our inspector to get more info. What is better?

I know it seems that I have a lot of interest in bgs and inspectors but I just want us to talk this through! I am unfortunately pretty much a vanillager.
