Usage stats for the first 4 rounds of the tournament, I decided to omit the last couple rounds to avoid giving any hint about opposing teams. These were automatically generated out of the team submissions, and that feature is now available for any tournament using the team submission site.
...
Metagross' usage is crazy, and I'm surprised at the amount of Crobat. What do ya'll notice?

I'm honestly surprise at how high Aron is. Is the ole sturdy endeavour sandstorm trick really fooling that many people to keep it going? Then again, these stats don't show how successful it was
Apart from that, nothing that shocking I guess. Chandelure a bit higher than expected I guess. Looks like nothing is going to rock those bread and butter mons from top spot anytime soon. EDIT: I know that feel gec. The Swampert use is probably mine..

19. Aron - 10.7% - 38
What...? Is it really that effective? 29. Hypno - 5.07% - 18 Hypno is used that much huh? Seems kinda outclassed by other trick room setters to me... And Metagross at almost 50%. Wow. I know he's popular, but 50%? Wouldn't have called that one.

IMO the Hypno usage isn't too unheard of, especially considering that a lot of participants in this tournament are not too accustomed to the VGC rules. What often comes to mind is, "No Sleep Clause?!" There are several ways to fight against it, but Hypno is the only mon who can passively counter it (via Insomnia) and inflict it as well (via that 60% Hypnosis @.@) However 18 uses implies that at least 5 people were running, which I agree is a bit high.
For all we know, it could just be a group of people who put together a troll (look at him and don't say you're not scared D:) team. Also, 2 mons that I think deserve more usage... 120. Kangaskhan - 0.28% - 1 Scrappy Fake Out is quality. 102. Latias - 0.56% - 2 - The defensive form of Latios... gets 1/60th its usage. 115. Hippowdon - 0.28% - 1 Weather inducer, solid bulk, can counter its Sand Stream counterpart... and it was used once.

Oh come on, that's a disgrace. Marowak is one of the best Trick Room mons of all time. 129. Combee - 0.28% - 1 Lol

It's not likely a group of people trying to troll the PO server as it is a sign of how little we play VGC on Smogon. Nearly every time I log onto PO for VGC matches, I opt for Skarmbliss instead of Smogon for a larger player base (albeit dwarfed by Smogon's OU player base). It's really a shame we can't seem to pull our own player base back to our own server. Hopefully the VGC tourney will spark some interest in it.

Everything in the Top 10 wasn't a surprise. I'm surprised Metagross has usage that low. I see way more than 50% whenever I play online.

I'm not too surprised on the numbers having a high bias towards the super standard Pokemon, while also having a lot of crack outliers. Though I will say that the popularity of Crobat, and Aron do come as a surprise.
Not everyone who participated in the tourney has had experience in playing double battles. As such, there's a good chance of people just slapping the "top 6 most used" together and calling it a team. Or making a completely wacky team because they feel that they have no chance against their opponent, or their opponent is also inexperienced in doubles and they just wanted to try something for fun. |

Typhlosion actually got 4 uses and I wasn't in this! lol, that is partially serious btw.
I am a little surprised to see Terrakion above mons like Toed/Aboma, but still believable.
