GEN 7 INTRODUCTION TOURNAMENT

3v3 Singles
ASB Arena
Strict 72h Disqualification. One warning per player. After the warning is used (any tag after DQ interval is passed will be counted as warning), the Player has one hour to post (with full orders/pokemon, just saying "orders coming watch this space" doesn't suffice) after DQ is called to rescind it. If one hour passes, the player is DQ'd regardless of the ref posting or not. User calling DQ must tag DQ'd player. Referees please tag the combatants when you have finished your reffing. Players, if you know you're going to be away you better post a Leave of Absence BEFORE you leave, or give a very good reason in case of an emergency.
Infinite Recoveries/Chills per Pokémon.
Three Substitutions per player excluding KO Substitutions.
Switch = OK
Abilities = ALL
Items = ON
Sendout = coinflip

LOA Rules: 10/10 not stolen from another tournament
1) If your LoA makes you unable to post we will wait up to 4 days. The longer the wait the smaller my patience if you keep pulling that card, so I reserve the right of rescinding it. LoAs without a defined ETA will be read as 3 days. that is per instance. You can't pull it in a row without first dealing with your current orders.
2) If your LoA is of the "will be busier" type, you will get +24h extension until it is over. Maximum time for its duration is 15 days (so during those 15 days you get 24h extra time on your posts). The longer the wait the smaller my patience if you keep pulling that card, so I reserve the right of rescinding it. You can't pull it in a row without first dealing with your current orders.
3) If you have good reasons and your match is well advanced, those rules might be excepted. But don't count on it

Due to the number of users in the Tournament, We're going to do Round 1 a little bit different. Round one will be 13 group Round robin, with 3 players in each group. Players within their group will fight each other and 24 users who has the most points will moves on to the next round. If a group appears to have a tie, The Hosts, and Tournament committee will review the battles in said group and will vote on who will move on.

Group Nihilego is definitely going to be the one to watch here. It's the only group that (IMO) doesn't have a clear best player in them.
 
Nihilego could very easily produce a 3-way tie, pushing all 3 through. Ought to be a fun round, good luck y'all!

The first round hasn't even begun and I already love the tournament atmosphere. I'm going to get to battle against experienced players with Pokémon just as trained as theirs, while seeing my friends from IRC in action!

For making this event happen, I'd like to thank our hosts acidphoenix and Toon, as well as all the people who volunteered to ref. You're amazing!

I'm very excited and nervous, as this is my first tournament and my first serious matches. Best of luck to you two, Exclaimer and deadfox081; you are both very strong competitors from what I've seen, and I most certainly have my work cut out for me. I will do my best, and I hope our matches are fun and challenging.

I have not really looked at teams.

Maxim vs PTPlatinum - Maxim is a great player and I think he will win this matchup.
PTPlatinum vs Geodude6 - Geodude will go over DQ and get booted.
Geodude6 vs Maxim - Geodude will go over DQ and get booted.

Ooraloo vs Dogfish44 - Tough pick but if Hillary couldn't beat Trump, then what hope does she have against Dogfish?
Dogfish44 vs AOPSUser - Not even Welsh internet could stop the fish from not making an early Brexit.
AOPSUser vs Ooraloo - In spite of the above, even a team of Hillary's could lose to a rusty player like AOPSUser.

Matezoide vs EndlessAge - Matezoide—embellished by being in group Buzzwole—will crush his opposition by the power of his favourite UB. YOLOL!

Texas Cloverleaf vs Gale Wing Srock - Texas to lose one Pokémon to Energy KO in one turn due to a bad substitution and then go further downhill as a result of Gale's rules lawyering.
Gale Wing Srock vs Elevator Music - Not even the might of EM could block the Srock!
Elevator Music vs Texas Cloverleaf - Match of the round, EM's better play will probably result in a win here

Toon vs Someoneelse - I will stay unbiased here and say good luck to my opposition....
Someoneelse vs Its_A_Random - ... because they will need it...
Its_A_Random vs Toon - ... for I am going to win. >:)

Mowtom vs zarator - zarator will be far more interested in convincing ASBers that Assault on Mount Coronet - The Siege is not a heavily luck-based raid that you can win irrespective of RNG (especially if you use priority!) than fighting Mowtom who is the superior player and will crush zarator here.
zarator vs Vaillish Wafer - ... Even then, someone who is too invested in raids will be good enough to beat Vanillish Wafer tbh.
Mowtom vs Vanillish Wafer - Better player.

Snarguffle vs Rainman Legends - I think Rainman will wait longer to claim his free Silvally because he is the best player of the group to be honest.
Rainman Legends vs Glacier Knight - Glacier will try to do some flavour action, Rainman will threaten to forfeit, referee does not allow the action and Glacier will be depressed into being crushed by Rainman.
Glacier Knight vs Snarguffle - Sorry don't know you.

YellowAdminSilver vs JJayyFeather - Tough matchup, but I think Jay has this...
JJayyFeather vs ZhengTann - ... but then Jay will get too cocky and overlook something and ZhengTann will pounce!
ZhengTann vs YellowAdminSilver - I don't know really, but I think ZhengTann will win.

Fort Colorcastle vs Birkal - Better player.
Birkal vs S0L1D G0LD - Gold can go toe to toe with Birkal, but will cross DQ one too many times and lose to DQ.
S0L1D G0LD vs Fort Colorcastle - Seriously Gold don't go over DQ, you will probably win this matchup with better play.
 
Not gonna post predicts because after having been gone for ~10 months I don't know half the people in this tourney. GL to everyone except dogfish and ooraloo!
 
I really love reading other people's predictions (and commenting on them on IRC), so I hope more people post them besides just IAR and myself!

Also I haven't looked at teams at all. Just going off of gut feelings.

Maxim vs PTPlatinum - Maxim is a strong battler and has been getting progressively better over the years. I think that will make a difference here.
PTPlatinum vs Geodude6 - Geodude is a good battler, but I think PTP has something to prove in this tournament.
Geodude6 vs Maxim - Probably a win by DQ, but Geodude has been more present lately. Could go either way.

Ooraloo vs Dogfish44 - Ooraloo is becoming a rising star, and I think that will eek out a win over Dogfish. Should be a great match to watch.
Dogfish44 vs AOPSUser - AOPS has a lot of rust to shake off -- I hope he can make this interesting.
AOPSUser vs Ooraloo - Should be interesting should AOPS stick it out.

Matezoide vs EndlessAge - *flexing ascii dude goes here*
EndlessAge vs TorterraX - Both are new users that I like a lot, but I think TorterraX may be a bit more involve right now thanks to having a gym run. Going for a gym seems to really help focus new players, in my opinion.
TorterraX vs Matezoide - Upset, I know. I think Matezoide is the better battler, but I think Torterra is gonna have a good run here.

Yoshiblaze vs Lucy Heartfillia - Another newbie upset, but I think Yoshiblaze is much more active and isn't a bad battler at all.
Lucy Heartfillia vs adiass - Still going with Lucy though. adiass is no slouch at all, but activity may be an issue.
adiass vs Yoshiblaze - Going with another underdog. Best of luck to both!

P2X7 vs TheBisharpKing - P2X7 struggles so much with activity... TBK has this match if they want it.
TheBisharpKing vs Complications - I can't imagine Complications sticking around. I hope be does, but I can't see it.
Complications vs P2X7 - Going to be the slowest match of the tournament.

deadfox081 vs Willow Wisps - deadfox has had his ups and downs, but I think he'll have a clear win here.
Willow Wisps vs Exclaimer - On the other hand, Wisps is proving to be really competent and active on IRC. I think they'll squeak out a win this tourney.
Exclaimer vs deadfox081 - And we're splitting it three ways! I think Exclaimer will invest more in this match, granting a win over deadfox.

smashlloyd20 vs FMD - smash is a strong battler when he puts his mind to it. I think we're going to have a few really good upcoming years of smash, starting here.
FMD vs Silver_Lucario42 - Another newbie with a lot on the line. I just don't see FMD caring about this match, and SL42 can take advantage.
Silver_Lucario42 vs smashlloyd20 - smash potatoes

Texas Cloverleaf vs Gale Wing Srock - This group is definitely the most intense. Texas will win unless Gale can manage to find some obscure policy to split hairs about.
Gale Wing Srock vs Elevator Music - Emma has awful luck, and I can just envision Gale taking this one. Don't bring Persian, Emma. Don't do it.
Elevator Music vs Texas Cloverleaf - But I think we'll have another three-way split with gb_sounds hurdling over Texas. Let's see!

Toon vs Someoneelse - 2016 is the year of Toon. Sure he's nice, but he's a great battler with a ton of reffing experience. That is not to dismiss Someoneelse though, who I greatly respect. Will be a tight match.
Someoneelse vs Its_A_Random - IAR is having some activity / motivational issues, but I still think he wants the win.
Its_A_Random vs Toon - Between reffing all these matches, Toon will take a second victory home.

Mowtom vs zarator - He gets stronger and stronger with each passing tournament. We have to be careful of zarator or he will rule us all.
zarator vs Vanillish Wafer - I think Vanillish has a lot of style, but again, zarator is packin'.
Vanillish Wafer vs Mowtom - Mowtom always impresses me on the battlefield, so I think this will be a good match.

Snarguffle vs Rainman Legends - Rainman is the best player of the three when he actually cares about his matches.
Rainman Legends vs Glacier Knight - If Glacier can make enough noise to distract / dishearten Rainman, he'll win the match.
Glacier Knight vs Snarguffle - Glacier will lose on activity if Snarguffle wants the match badly enough. Going with another 3-way tie here!

YellowAdminSilver vs JJayyFeather - YAS is a terrifying battler, but Jayy will be hot and heavy for the DQ. If YAS zeros in and makes this happen, he will win. Be active, buddy.
JJayyFeather vs ZhengTann - I think Jayy edge out Zt with some substitution abuse. Write those subs carefully, Zt.
ZhengTann vs YellowAdminSilver - I think activity will get the best of YAS here, leading to a round robin yet again. Zt is also a great battler, so I'll give this one to him!

Fort Colorcastle vs Birkal - highlight match
Birkal vs S0L1D G0LD - highlight match
S0L1D G0LD vs Fort Colorcastle - doesn't matter they're both gettin' BENCHED
 
So i'm a dumb butt and forgot about Christmas, battlers and ref change of plans have a bit a leniency of send ins and posting matches, when deadline hits you can post you matches but if they still havent sent in please respect that ^_^
 
Now that I'm sending in my teams, I can really see why Silvally was such a good pick, and why so many people picked it. I'm just going to say now, that I'm using Silvally for all my battles. And saying this doesn't give me any disadvantage at all, since it's impossible to counter Silvally. In fact, it's impossible to not get countered by Silvally. When I look at the opposing team, I'm not put in a position where I need to make 3 good choices out of 6 Pokemon, I'm in a position where I only need to make 2 good choices, and then slap Silvally on.

Eh, Silvally will be nice but for me, Silvally is just a last resort for when counter-teaming isn't possible. Also, what do you guys think about Kommo-o this tour? Primarina and Toucannon are everywhere but otherwise it looks super strong. (the other dragons feel kinda mediocre to me)
 
Aaahh, how i love the sweet, sweet smell of another tournament.

I am quite glad EndlessAge has managed to stick around for the tournament, despite the unfortunate accident with his team. TorterraX i have seen you grow into a powerful battler in your own right, and your team took me a lot of brain power to properly prepare myself.

I am quite sure both of you will manage to put a valiant battle and potentially defeat me if i make the tiniest of mistakes. May our battles be hax-free. #Yolol

Maxim vs PTPlatinum - Maxim is unbeatable outside his gym (right??). Nah JK but he's actually quite competent, just seems to have a mental block in his gym.
PTPlatinum vs Geodude6 - PT has been putting in work in his 101 and I think that's going to pay off.
Geodude6 vs Maxim - Geodude is too competent to go 0-2.

Ooraloo vs Dogfish44 - Should be one of the battles of the round, but dogfish is imbalanced in rental tournaments.

Matezoide vs EndlessAge - Matezoide is really good yolol
