Is this a 4-away ####% because it seems to continue my chain and before I always thought this was the 4-away zone ###%?

#=non-wiggling patch
%=wiggling patch

I thought I was correct but my chain of 17 Nidoran(female) just broke even though 4 patches were wiggling and the patch was 4 away like this, ####4.

patches that are 4 spaces away and directly above or to your side (vertical or horizontal line) are not secure. Have you seen the graph? Read Diesel's chaining guide.

Yeah, they are hard... It took me two weeks to get the chain running, the reward was there though!

Because they're on the edge or directly above/below/to the right/left
