Kyogre and Groudon were NEVER tested in DPPt, guys; it was a test held on CaP, even before Platinum was released, where lv~65 (help me here guys) Groudon/Kyogre were tested only to see if automatic 5-turn rain/sun were broken or not.

If memory serves, it was a small-scale, unofficial test on the CAP server so you should bear that in mind when attempting to draw conclusions from it. Even if that weren't the case, this is a different generation and the results of tests in the previous gen are almost entirely irrelevant.

While the results are irrelevant for this gen in whether or not the abilities are broken, it shows that drought/drizzle (and now sandstream) can be broken themselves, and ban them rather than politoed, ninetails, tyranitar, and hippowdon, if we find them broken.

Why is everybody complaining about DrizzleToed?
Hippo and Tar are much more bulkier and aren't just weather inducer. They are very common pokemon that can enforce whole teams and don't need a whole team based on them.
On the other hand, Politeod can be easily destroyed - then a common Hippo or Tar can come in and change the weather to one that fits the opponent team more.
The effects of SS aren't game breaking but can make a team much better. And SS Teams don't rely on the same pokemon as Rain teams - they have a broad teampool.

Rain has a HUGE teampool.

It's not just stuff that have abilities which make them better in the rain that are great rain Pokemon. Look at Nattorei, an absolute monster in the rain. Same with Scizor and Bronzong. In the rain, Bronzong has no weaknesses, for example.

I could say the same thing about Sand and Sun.

In Sand, all Rock-types get their SpD boosted by 50%. Look at Terrakion who's an absolute monster in the Sand. Or how about how it completely wrecks Focus Sash regardless of Stealth Rock. Also, it nullifies Leftovers recovery just by being there.

In Sun, anything weak to Water can use literally the same argument you just used with Rain. Fire-type pokemon in the Sun not only lose their Water weakness, but they also gain a second STAB multiplier. A good example would be Rotom-H, whose only weakness with Sunshine is Rock.

All of the weathers are useful to a wide pool of pokemon. I don't see how Rain is any better than these. They're all pretty manageable if you have a good team and a good strategy, which isn't impossible with team preview.

Well, sand has:

Doryuzuu, Hippowdon, Tyranitar, Garchomp, Nattorei, Fortress, Skarmory, Genosect, Randurusu, and Scizor.

Rain has:

Politoed, Kingdra, Manaphy (as of this post), Zapdos, Ludicolo.

Sun has:

Venusaur, Ninetales, the Urgamoth, Charizard, Jumpluff, and Victreebel?

Clearly sand has the upper edge.

Weather teams consist of more than just pokemon whose abilities or typings give them an advantage when fighting in a specifici weather. Rain, for example, has, adding to your list, Kabutops, Nattorei, Bronzong and Jolteon, among others.

I might as well just not post and let Bologo to it because I seem to agree with every single one of his/her posts.

You're leaving out a lot of pokemon. Sun also has blaziken, infernape, shanderaa, tangrowth, etc.

Rain also has vaporeon (thanks to water absorb and hydration), gyarados, and pretty much anything with thunder. It also benefits toxicroak.

Why is everyone ignoring Kabutops as a rain sweeper? It's probaby top 3 for physical rain sweepers.

Also, Genosect is not yet allowed in standard play, which is what this thread is about. Genosect is completely irrelevant here.

Also, Scizor and Nattorei do well on rain teams too, so you should include them there.

Rain also has Parasect ... if you laugh, you obviously haven't faced subseed Parasect in the rain.

The point I made was simply that there is a lot of guys that can go on rain teams, and yes there is probably just as many for sun. The whole point was that rain has a massive amount of guys that can fit on and benefit from rain.

Inconsistent is easily the most broken thing right now. I've used Inconsistent Bibarel + Octillery for three battles and I've swept with Bibarel every single time without even having to use Octillery. If you get an evasion boost, it is pretty much game. I spent approximately two minutes on the rest of the team (just took four members from my stage 3-2 team).

Here are a few logs:
(Just for the record, I had +5 Attack, +3 Defense, +5 Special Attack, +4 Special Defense, +5 Speed, +5 accuracy, and +6 evasion at the end of the first battle.)

Congratulations stellar. You ruined 3 people's days. xD lol those logs were funny.

But seriously lol, it's really hard to believe that at the beginning of BW, people were saying that Inconsistent would be a terrible ability. I guess if gamefreak really wanted to make crappy pokemon into monsters they were successful with most of these Dream World abilities.

Honestly, right after Bibarel got a sharp Evasion boost, the opponent's chances of winning were basically non-existent barring a miracle (which the Politoed got with Hypnosis, though it was short-lived since Focus Blast had fucker% accuracy after the Evasion boosts). One sharp Evasion boost brings all 100% accurate moves down to 60%. And as we all know, Hypnosis, which has 60% accuracy, likes to miss more than it hits.

Which user do you think is more dangerous and more deserving of suspect status? Bibarel, Octillery, or both? (I guess Glalie and Smeargle don't count for now since they're not released.)

lol I can't wait until Inconsistent Smeargle comes out when you can Baton Pass those boosts to something like Espeon/Xatu who carry White Herb...on top of that it has Magic Coat. xD

Player2: Can I forfet?
Lol, that's exactly how the set makes me feel. Still, it is new and frankly the idea of banning Octillery or Bibarel scares me. Celebi resists water, takes little from neutral frustrations and can force either out with perish song or kill them as a last pokemon. Jynx and Lapras also absorb water with the right ability (and Lapras can shrug off toxic in the rain if it foregos water absorb for hydration) and use perish song.

This is all theory, I've yet to try them out. Celebi seems he'd have trouble finding a niche with Shaymin-S around. Bibarel and Octillery are certainly evil, but I don't see them as Ubers just yet.

Time to figure out the counters the best way I know how, abusing them and watching how other people beat me!

Well, if you want a tip, Evolution Stone MH Murkrow is actually the best counter for both. Not only does his Haze get +1 priority, but so does his Perish Song, and if you want, his Taunt does too. If you look at the skeleton analysis I made for Murkrow, you'll see that he's not totally useless in OU either, rather, he's quite useful. xD

I personally don't think either are suspects, although it's still a new niche that is rising in popularity, so if it gets too popular and too dangerous, I might change my mind.

My friend has been battling with my team and I've been watching Lady Bug and a few others battle with Bibarel and Octillery and they pretty much consistently sweep. It's hilarious. I have about ten more logs just from the last few minutes.

Inconsistent is soooo rage inducing lol. Pringles seems like a good way to deal with the Bibarel one though. What does Octillery typically run? Sub/Protect/Surf/???

Yeah. Inconsistent Pokes are assholes to play against, but fun to play with. I'm considering using Psych Up Jirachi or perhaps another Psych Up Pokemon to turn it around on them.

I remember twice when I faced an Inconsistent Octillery.

The first time, its Sp Atk got lowered 4 times and its Def got raised 3 times. It's Surfs were doing absolutely nothing to me.

Another time, I switched in Nattorei on a Toxic, and proceeded to wall it to death.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, if it gets a Sp Atk and Spe/Evasion boost, it'll be near unstoppable. xD

edit: I just realized. Now that we've got OU Drought, think about the usage of Cresselia. Yes, she still gets absolutely raped by Tyranitar, but against any non-weather team...

Echoing Inconsistent statements. It basically turns the game into a crapshoot. I played two Octillery/Bibarel teams back-to-back, and despite me winning both, it was from pure luck. The game is almost entirely out of your hand (as the opponent) as soon as Bibarel hits the field. I don't think that's healthy or what we want in a metagame.

Most Octillery are now using Boil Over to get past Nattorei. Energy Ball is also being used over Toxic.

Inconsistent is even less conducing to competitive battling than OHKO moves or Double Team. Read: It's bull shit, ought to ban.
