It all started the day the world didn’t end. Not that the citizens knew that.
John Wilson of Lewisville, Texas thought it would be just a harmless prank. Just some loud noises. So what if it was December 21, 2012? Nobody would believe this shit for real. Right?
Wrong. The setting off of the fireworks caused the city to batshit insane. Riots in the streets. People dying left and right, in fistfights and firefights and stampedes. It was impossible to tell where one panicked mob ended and another began. The city wasn’t just wracked by chaos - it WAS chaos.
After one arduous, tortuous, treacherous, chaotic week from hell, a family rose up to restore order. The family name has since been forgotten, but nobody called them by their name anyways. They were simply known as “the Mafia”. The Mafia used their power ruthlessly, promoting rampant crime and oppressing those they bore grudge against. It was better than the chaos - but barely.
A year has passed since then. Rumors have swept through the streets that a resistance group is working underground to defeat the mafia. This movement calls themselves the Vigilantes In Lewisville Laboring Against the Greater Evil, or V.I.L.L.A.G.E., and they have some very savvy, crafty, persuasive people working for them.
And what of John Wilson? Nobody knows. They say that the chaos made him snap. Made him crave more. They say he lurks in the shadows, biding his time, wishing for chaos to return to the streets. But those are just urban legends, right?
Whatever the case may be this certainly is a backwards city. You might say everything is the reverse of the norm.

Please don't ask about when a majority is reached - once it's time for the day to end, it'll end (provided the host is there to update).
