I'm looking forward to make this Roserade to kill in the current metagame. Leaf Storm/Sludge Bomb/Dazzling Dream/HP Fire. I'm really sure she would only lose against talonflame and gengar (from the popular choices), and makes her able to kill the popular overrun aegislash, tyranitar, togekiss, scizor, garchomp, skarmory and greninja. I was very tempted to do HP Fighting and change Dazzling Dream for Shadow Ball, but thinking it well, fire is the best option for the build. Will be pairing her up with a physical greninja and a focus-sash froslass, so I think that will work well.Otter PowerSet Name: Venus Fly Trap (Choice Scarf)
Roserade @ Choice Scarf | nature: Timid
ability: Technician / Natural Cure
Leaf Storm / Energy Ball | Sludge Bomb | Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Rock / Sleep Powder| Sleep Powder / Dazzling Gleam @ 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
4 SpA Roserade Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Genesect: 224-264 (79.1 - 93.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKOThat would make your physical side really horrible, I'd do 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe @ Assault Vest and I'd rather have Natural cure
As I have said, I'm pairing this with a fully defensive Slowbro.Scarfed Raptor said:supernut64 I think you have too much fat on the SDef side, it would be wise to invest those Sdef points in defense so your Roserade isn't fodder for a mixed attacker. But do what works best for you nonetheless.
Assault Vest is for tanking hits, not walling. If your wall is an AV user you need a different wall. It's about walling not sweeping. Isn't that the point of Assault Vest?
Tanking, not walling. Taking hits without doing anything back is just walling. A good AV user needs to have offensive presence or otherwise they are completely helpless against anything that is remotely bulky or can set up. In particular, AV Roserade can beat Genesect one-on-one easily with Technician, but not Natural Cure.Yeah that's true, taking hits, but I believe Natural Cure is fromm "taking hits" because you want to take status instead of your team and absorb them.
How low can the Attack IV go and still get HP fire? Foul Play and Swagger are both moves--low attack is good to have.HP Fire takes 31/30/31/30/31/30 IVs.
It only takes an even Attack EV for HP Fire, so you can drop it all the way to 0.How low can the Attack IV go and still get HP fire? Foul Play and Swagger are both moves--low attack is good to have.
But you don't get any more power. Energy Ball is 90 BP now upped from 80 last generation, so it has the same power as Technician Magical Leaf. The special defense drops are much more valuable than no-miss, which is really situational.Anyone decide to run Magical Leaf on the offensive set to take better advantage of technician? I've been doing that for a while and it's been working really well. You lose out on the special defense drop from energy ball but you get more power without any drawbacks.
Ah, my mistake. I forgot about the energy ball buff. But you don't get any more power. Energy Ball is 90 BP now upped from 80 last generation, so it has the same power as Technician Magical Leaf. The special defense drops are much more valuable than no-miss, which is really situational.
