I sincerely apologise, I was given to understand that players called DQ, from
the first match I ever battled in to my most
recent battles.
Even as a ref, I never called DQ, but instead waited until the other challenger
called it.
Generally, it is considered good sportsusership as far as DQ is concerned to remind a user to post if they have exceeded DQ initially. If they do not adhere to the warning, then seek DQ. This is a Tournament Match, something of a higher calibre than a regular Tower Match. Because of how prestigious they are, rules are a lot more regulated than they are anywhere else. Given Flamestrike is not here with us, I am willing to be lenient on DQ, & so is others like Alch, but as Alch said, a DQ is the last thing we need in this tournament. The problem I have is in how rash you have been; taking what I have been saying out of context. I mean, you obviously did not see...
Atheno, idk where he is, but I have sent him a VM.
If you saw this, maybe you would have not had to call DQ in the first place. I was obviously mistaken.
I took the above quotes to mean that, if Atheno exceeded DQ, he would be DQ'd. Otherwise, what is DQ for?
He did exceed the deadline, but that does not mean you can go "Whee, free win, calling DQ." Did you remind Atheno & the rest of his team to post? Not that I am aware of. Did you ask me or Flame or Alch or someone else if it was absolutely okay to call it? As you said, you did not. That is not exactly good sportsusership from you, & I expected better. What is DQ for? To punish those who blatantly go on inactive streaks & ignore reminders to post.
I didn't ask permission because:
1) I didn't know I needed permission to call DQ and
I am a bit at fault there for not stating it clearly before this happened. All matches that have ended in DQ in this tourney as far as I am aware of have all been authorised, & I thought it was taken for granted you had to have permission. I was obviously mistaken.
2) If I had stopped to think about it, I would have said the above quotes constitute permission.
Quotes about DQ rules never constitute permission. As you say, you were very rash in your decision, which I do not like, & neither do others. What constitutes permission in this context is evidence that you asked for DQ to be called & got approved.
If I've upset the process of the tourney, I sincerely apologise. I was only trying to follow rules you yourself put into place.
Apology accepted, but the rules about DQ I never put into place - they were put into place long beforehand; I simply reminded users. The only thing I have pseudo-officiated was the permissions rule.
At any rate, I am not impressed that something like this happened, & I do not want a repeat of this. Since Atheno randomly posted a couple of hours ago, & the way DQ was brought up, coupled with the fact that we do not need another DQ...
DQ CALL OVERTURNED. CARRY ON AS NORMAL, & I DO NOT WANT A REPEAT OF THIS. ENGINEER, IF YOU MUST RE-REF A ROUND, YOU MUST LET USERS KNOW IT HAS HAPPENED. THANK YOU.
I am not being biased, but the way this has occurred is not a good look, & if this DQ call stood, it would simply open a floodgate of DQ's in the Tourney, with this match being used as precedence, which I do not want. Thank you all for your patience & cooperation.
Cheers!
