Pet Mod Generation X - The Next Chapter (Region 4: Brunica) [Slate 12: Pseudo-Legendary + Exceptional Evolution]

Should we have a Generational Gimmick akin to Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax and Terastalizaiton?

Sub Review once again, giving flavour-based and semi-competitive feedback and notifying which of these raise vetoable concerns.
Sowlixi, Gartifoli, and Violgarie; Cartrage and Bajocoyl; Clammush, Bivalteit, and Mollzest; Brunician Aipom, Brunician Ambipom and Arynosopom; Ferrustle and Mustelone
- Ferrustle and Mustelone: I apologise once again little critters. On a personal note I feel they might fit Wimp Out than Emergency Exit lore-wise.
- Violgarie: Second personal favourite. Mulcher helps give extra recovery, Seed Sower + Rototiller sets are nice to see, Violet Seed is cool, though for the life of me I can't put my finger on why the name feels slightly off...
- Bajocoyl: Bulk-ish Poison-type, though both its Ability and Balm move do raise concerns, particularly with the Item changing gimmick. The coding team will be consulted.
- Molizest line: My personal favourite out of these four, is that a MasterChef Canada reference? Steam Body is niche, while Bon Appetit has the same issue as above.
- Arynosopom line: Ground/Dragon, which means Ice-Weakness, Froskua's gonna eat it alive. Sharp Tail is fine. Not game-changing, but will hardly see use because the mon only has two not very good slicing moves, one of which is its Keratin Strike, which appears to be Dual Chop that has shakier accuracy, slightly more BP, and is slicing.
Qimmiqua, Splabrashor, Newflowake
...I'm gonna have to start finding reasons, aren't I?
Sugacer, Saccharup, Syruptitious
- Syruptitious: Hilarious. Had an old friend who used to jokingly chant 'blame Canada! Blame Canada~' whenever things went wrong. This is that embodiment.
Stegocene, Stegsaw, Stegohaul; Brunican Ponyta, Alicheron
- Stegohaul: I don't what it is, I'm aware there are dinosaur-like mon that aren't fossils, but this line keeps feeling to me like it belongs in the Fossil slate (that one is not happening until much later). They are otherwise good subs, though I dread for the coding team when we have yet another category of moves to code...
- Alicheron: I see someone else likes a Run Away update. That aside, it took me a long time to figure out why a British breed is used to justify a French stock.
Servop, Servault, Servolant; Carebel, Caruckus, Caraskull
Eyyy, region creator finally makes their debut!
- Servolant line: This signature move wants to hit first.
- Caraskull line: This signature move has to hit last.
- Both lines: Quick Feet might make them hard enough to outsped and revenge kill, particularly if they opt for a Thunder Orb. Ideally, swap out Quick Feet, or lower their Speed stats slightly.
Brunican Bellsprout, Brunican Weepinbell, Brunican Victreebell, Brunican Narabel
- Brunican Bellsprout: I'm assuming that the colours are simply cosmetic forms? Anyways, Mineral Absorb is an awkward name but good effects, though I'm also questioning the Stealth Rock healing considering that Earth Eater does not heal if Spikes are on the field.

Keep posting your subs!

Second and final sub review for this slate, if anything new pops up after this note that it won't be commented. You have 48 hours starting from this post to post and finish any incomplete subs.
Name: Anglerod [Angler + Fishing Rod]
Typing: Fairy / Water
Ability: Pickup (Old Form) Prankster (Good Form) Long Reach (Super Form) / Suction Cups | Stalwart
Base Stats:
- (Old Form) 47 / 90 / 82 / 90 / 86 / 85 (480)
- (Good Form) 57 / 85 / 87 / 85 / 91 / 75 (480)
- (Super Form) 67 / 80 / 92 / 80 / 96 / 65 (480)
Notable Moves: Play Rough, Dazzling Gleam, Misty Terrain, Waterfall, Scald, Hydro Pump, Throat Chop, Foul Play
Height + Weight: 1.2 m + 61.0kg
Flavour/Design: Based on the Fishing Rod. Canada's top industry is fishing, so this was probably mandatory. Old Rod's falling by the seams, Good form's your old standard, Super Old focuses on patience.
FISH.
Name: Sphymetic (Sphynx + Memetic)
Typing:
Fairy.png
Electric.png

Ability: Cute Charm / Lightning Rod | Download
Base Stats: 55/83/70/106/75/100 (BST 489)
Height + Weight: 0.36m, 5.4kg
Notable Moves: Dazzling Gleam, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Volt Switch, Growl, Scratch, Play Rough, Work Up, Fury Swipes, Take Down, Hone Claws, Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Hidden Power, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Swift, Helping Hand, Facade, Rest, Attract, Thief, Electric Terrain, False Swipe, Shock Tail, Shadow Claw, Thunder Wave, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute, Flash Cannon, Wild Charge, Snarl, Electroweb, Iron Tail, Knock Off, Trick
Flavor (Required): The Sphynx Cat (otherwise colloquially known as a 'bingus') was first bred in Toronto in the 1960s. Sphymetic is a Pokemon that is more prized for being a housepet (where it's been popular because of its silly demeanor) then being trained and used in battles, as its lack of fur makes travelling the region a bit problematic (though not impossible, just really intensive as you have to regularly maintain its body heat). Sphynx cat but with a computer screen for a face (not the full head, just the face). Its face cycles through a bunch of different old-school emoticons (^_^ is a popular one) to suit its mood. Its tail ends in a plug.
Cat memes inbound.

Name: Hawkular (Hawk + Ocular/Binoculars)
Typing:
Flying.png
Psychic.png

Abilities: No Guard, Keen Eye, Infiltrator (Hidden Ability)
Evolves: Into Hawkular at Level 30
Stats: 40 HP / 50 ATK / 80 DEF / 105 SP ATK / 50 SP DEF / 80 Spe (405 BST)
Height: 1'4"
Weight: 20 lbs

Notable Moves:
  • Level-Up: Leer (1), Gust (1), Thunder Wave (4), Psybeam (8), Agility (12), Laser Focus (16), Calm Mind (20), Air Cutter (24), Tailwind (28), Confusion (32), Volt Switch (36), Nasty Plot (40), Air Slash (44), Twin Beam (48), Hurricane (52), Solar Beam (56), Psyshock (60)
  • TM/Tutor Moves: [TBA]
Flavor:
A small bird of prey closely related to Rufflet and with similar proportions (though slightly smaller), Hawkward is based on the sharp-shinned hawk, which is found in much of Canada. It is purple in color with white flight feathers on its wings and tail, tipped with black; the underside is also white, with a black chevron on the chest. Its big, somewhat clumsy talons are gray with four black claws, one backward and the rest forward, and the hooked beak is also gray. Notably, its huge, orange eyes are surrounded by black marking suggesting both nerd glasses and binoculars, and the eyes themselves are almost bigger than the rest of its head - this is a Pokémon built for obtaining as much visual input as possible. The rest of the head is gray, but there's a singular long, white feather sticking out of the back of it like an ahoge - this is actually a psychic broadcasting apparatus that sticks up straight when transmitting visual information to others' minds, making it perfect for visual reconnaissance - falconers in Brunica still train it for precisely this purpose.

"A small bird Pokémon with extremely sharp vision, Hawkward can spot objects many miles away. It likes to investigate interesting things it notices from afar, but its impulsive curiosity can lead it to misjudge the situation and get into trouble."
1920px-Red-tailed_Hawk_%28Buteo_jamaicensis%29_%2812059507526%29.jpg
Name: Hawkular (Hawk + Ocular/Binoculars)
Typing:
Flying.png
Psychic.png

Abilities: No Guard, Keen Eye, Infiltrator (Hidden Ability)
Stats: 60 HP / 70 ATK / 100 DEF / 125 SP ATK / 70 SP DEF / 100 Spe (525 BST)
Height: 3'2"
Weight: 45 lbs

Notable Moves:
  • Level-Up: Same as Hawkward, but with added starting moves Eerie Impulse, Signal Beam, and [signature move TBA]
  • TM/Tutor Moves: Same as Hawkward.
Flavor:
Now fully evolved, Hawkular is based on a red-tailed hawk, but adds predator drone characteristics as well, being adapted for long-range surveillance. Its body shape is not unlike that of the closely related (though slightly larger) Braviary, but it's purple in color overall with white legs and underbelly, several black chevrons running down its chest, and flight feathers on its wings and tail which are a striking pinkish red with black bands and tips, with a black topside, secondary feathers, and limb portion joining to a sphere of the same color upon the shoulder. Its huge, forward-facing eyes, from which it fires devastating laser beams to attack, are orange with crosshair patterns around their pupils, and are surrounded by a black mask pattern like night vision goggles crossed with a falconer's hood. The single, straight feather at the back of the head, akin to the crest of an ornate hawk-eagle, is gray like the wings, with an orange end to make it resemble an antenna. Its hooked beak is gray, as are the feet which, unlike with Braviary, are featherless up to the ankle joint, while its feet resemble its cousin's with four black talons each - three forward, one back.

In both stages of this line, the shiny is notably dark red instead of purple with a striking pink to the wing and tail feathers, while the eyes and crest feather are a bright blue.

Potential Competitive Role:
Hawkular is an agile and lethally precise special attacker which takes full advantage of No Guard to unleash incredibly powerful attacks without having to worry about inaccuracy, at the cost of being unable to escape any incoming attack in turn. With No Guard allowing it to make full use of Thunder, its main STAB option is resisted or blocked by only four types, and Grass is easily taken care of with Hurricane; even the weaker Air Slash and Air Cutter aren't unusable here. Being a Flying-type and thus vulnerable to Rock and Ice, packing Solar Beam will hopefully allow Hawkular to deal with such threats, especially on sun teams, though its only answer to Ice-types is Heat Wave and without proper team support to take care of blind spots or clear away things that can resist its strongest attacks, it's probably for the best that it's able to naturally learn Volt Switch, because it's probably going to be clicking that a lot. Its defenses leave something be desired (especially given the downside of No Guard) and as a Flying-type it has every right to be scared of Stealth Rock, but since it's quick enough to have a good chance of peacing out before its opponent even realizes what's happened, it's not as if it has any need to stay in a prolonged battle anyway.

"Once trained for surveillance, it has since seen additional use as a long-ranged hunter. Using its exceptional vision to aim, it can shoot down a fist-sized target from six miles away."
Hawkeye inbound. Hawkward's sub does seem to be incomplete at the moment, so do try to amend that stage.

For previous subs that haven't seen change,
Brunican Bellsprout Line
Ability: Chlorophyll (Mineral Absorb)

Mineral Absorb: Rock version of Water Absorb. Includes healing from Stealth Rocks
Earth Eater does not include healing from Spikes, so I fail to see why Mineral Absorb would from Stealth Rock. Remove the healing from Stealth Rock.

Brunican Bellsprout: I'm assuming that the colours are simply cosmetic forms? Anyways, Mineral Absorb is an awkward name but good effects, though I'm also questioning the Stealth Rock part considering that Earth Eater does not heal if Spikes are on the field.

Keep posting your subs!

Correct it is all cosmetic much like Spinda shapes not changing movepool, save for the orange evolution option.

As for the spikes vs SR. My thought was that SR actually cares about your interaction with the rock typing itself while Spikes and also Toxic Spikes, care only about if you are grounded or not.

That said it will be removed.

As for the spikes vs SR. My thought was that SR actually cares about your interaction with the rock typing itself while Spikes and also Toxic Spikes, care only about if you are grounded or not.
abilities made in other mods that make you immune to rock moves do not protect from sr so this ability doing so wouldnt make sense

Each vote is worth one point; self-votes are worth two points, limited to one per user, must be accompanied with (SV) and permitted only if you have voted for at least two submissions belonging to others. Failure to properly mark your self-vote will result in said vote being disqualified, and only the first five votes will be counted if you vote for more than five. The submissions with the top three amount of votes will become part of the dex.

Replaces all Ghost moves when holding a Ghost Balm:
Clone Express
And second of all...here are some Pokédex entries for Ferrustle and Mustelone.
Ferrustle, the Ferret Pokémon: Height: 2'00" Weight: 8.3 lbs.
This common sight flees at the slightest trace of danger, so people once tamed them in the past to allow them to know when a disaster would occur.
Mustelone, the Cloning Pokémon: Height: 5'07" Weight: 26.8 lbs.
It confuses predators by creating clones of itself, making them think that their pack has multiplied overnight. However, these clones are smart enough to make more clones, leading to chaos.
And furthermore...here are some example movesets!
Clone Express (Mustelone) @ Ghost Balm
Ability: Cloning Genes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Power Gem
- Calm Mind
Fairy Balm Turbo (Mustelone) @ Fairy Balm
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Body Slam
- Glare
- Zen Headbutt
Substitute Support (Mustelone) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Quick Feet
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Calm Mind
And finally....Sprites for the two! The left one is Ferrustle, while the right one is Mustelone.

I guess all that's left is Egg Moves, so I'm putting the Hawkward line in the Flying egg group, and giving it Feather Dance, Sand Attack, Fury Attack, Sky Attack, Boomburst, and Uproar as breeding moves. Height and Weight are provided as well but in US customary units, though they should be convertible to the metric system.

Slate 6: On top of the World, on top of the Earth~
{Cavernous & Mountainous Slate}
:SV/Clefairy::SV/Gligar::SV/Sableye::SV/Bronzor::SV/Joltik::SV/Carbink::SV/Dugtrio-Alola::SV/Carkol::SV/Frigibax:

From the overabundance of Zubat, self-destructing Geodudes and the occasional Shadow Tag Wobbuffet, mountains, caverns and the like have come a long way from being an annoying route that necessitates the use of Repels. Nonetheless, it's true that within the confines of the earth, they are home to some of the more useful Pokemon types that are worth the risk to traverse - just ask any Hiker...

Rules:
  • For this free slate, the mandatory flavour criteria is that your submission(s) are among the options utilised by Hikers, the most common Trainer Class you can encounter in these areas. To quote Bulbapedia, Hikers commonly specialise in a combination of Fighting-, Ground-, and Rock-type Pokémon, though there can be exceptions, as you can tell from the examples of Pokemon found in cavernous and mountainous areas over the generations listed above; alternatively, perhaps the Hikers in Brunica have different preferences. As usual, failure to include proper explanations will automatically disqualify your submission.
  • Regional forms/Evolutions (ex. :Zigzagoon-Galar: :Linoone-Galar: :Obstagoon::Wooper-Paldea: :Clodsire:), ecological similar Pokemon (ex.:Toedscool::Toedscruel:), and cross-gen additions to existing Pokémon such as Baby Pokémon or new-stage evolutions (ex.:Azurill: :Annihilape:) are permitted.
  • While submissions in every free slate have a hard BST limit of 550, you should not be intentionally aiming at or above this threshold unless you have both valid competitive handicaps and flavour justifications for your intended sub. (ex. :Slaking: :Archeops:) The BST average of the vast majority of final evolutions and/or single stages tends to peak around 525, so this is the power level you should realistically aim at or below.
  • Pseudo-Legendaries (ex. :Dragapult::Goodra-Hisui:) and Exceptional Evolutions (ie. :Archaludon:) cannot be submitted until their designated slate, which will likely be one of the final slates.
Name: Subs with no given name are ineligible to be voted.
Counterpart(s) / Evolutionary Members: Write the names of the previous stage or counterparts of the Pokemon, if applicable. For pre-evos, instead write the evolution method.
Typing: Remember to respect the rules of the ongoing slate; you may use these link for images: https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/types/Type.png.
Ability: Ability 1 / Ability 2 | Hidden Ability
Base Stats: HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe (BST) These can be written in any configuration you want, the important thing is that it also fits with slate-specific and general rules. New pre-evolutions’ BST have to be lower than the original, while evolutions’ BST is usually higher; for regional or convergent forms, their BST must match.
Height + Weight: How tall the Pokémon is in Meters (m) + how heavy the Pokémon is in Kilograms (kg). While the former is optional, the latter is required for weight-based moves.
Notable Moves: List the moves that this Pokémon will learn, both viable and flavor moves, though the former is more important. Once your submission is voted in, you will create a full movepool for it in the discussion phase.
Flavor (Required): Describe the lore/flavor/design of your Pokémon, why is it found here in Brunica? What connection does it have to Canada?
*Custom Elements:
Name: Try to use distinct combinations of words never used before for moves in Pokémon games, double-check on Showdown or Serebii.
Power: [Base Power of the Move, should be a multiple of 5]
Type: https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/types/Type.png
Category: https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/categories/Category.png (Physical, Special or Status)
Base Power: try to balance this, PP, effect and accuracy; only multiples of 5 are allowed as values.
Accuracy: write -- if it ignores accuracy and evasion checks; must be multiple of 5
Power Points: specify just the max PP if you want; allowed values are 1, 8, 16, 24, 32, 48, 64.
Effect: What the move does, including how many targets. Note that while custom elements are allowed, they should be distinct from already existing abilities/moves introduced as of SV and/or Desvega, and are relatively simple to code (Which means no more custom field effects, we just introduced a new (Poison) terrain in Desvega and a 'Primal Reversion' terrain in Lutakon. Also, if you think it's codable but the coding team disagrees, then you'd better be prepared to code it yourself if it wins.)
Priority: (Optional) The priority bracket of the move. Unless specified, it is assumed to have the standard priority of 0.
Flags (ex: Contact, Sound): [Specify which flags the move has. A full list can be found in the spreadsheet.]
Distribution: Specify if the move is exclusive to a particular evolutionary line; otherwise, list the criteria of Pokémon that are eligible to receive the submitted move.
Justification: If this is adjusted from an existing move, explain why it should be changed, both competitive AND flavour wise. Note that any changes you propose will carry to the Move you suggested only, not to any similar Moves. On that note, be sure that it is not similar to any existing Move introduced in any Generation X iteration or up to SV, otherwise it will be vetoed.
Name: Try to use combinations of words never used before in Pokémon games, double-check on Showdown or Serebii.
Effect: While custom elements are allowed, they should be distinct from already existing abilities/moves introduced as of Gen IX and/or Desvega and relatively simple to code (Which means no more custom field effects, we just introduced a new (Poison) terrain in Desvega and a 'Primal Reversion' terrain in Lutakon. Also, if you think it's codable but the coding team disagrees, then you'd better be prepared to code it yourself if it wins.)
Permanent (Yes or No): [Specify whether or not the ability can't be suppressed, Skill Swapped, or copied]
Ignorable (Yes or No): [Specify whether or not the ability is ignored by Mold Breaker]
Distribution: Specify if the Ability is exclusive to a particular evolutionary line; otherwise, list the criteria of Pokémon that are eligible to receive the submitted ability.
Justification: If this is adjusted from an existing Ability, explain why it should be changed, both competitive AND flavour wise. Note that any changes you propose will carry to the Ability you suggested only, not to any similar Abilities. On that note, be sure that it is not similar to any existing Ability introduced in any Generation X iteration or up to SV, otherwise it will be vetoed.
Name: [Name of the item]
Effect: [What the item does, these should not be similar to any existing and relevant competitive items]
Can Be Removed (Yes or No): (Specify whether or not the item can be stolen or Knocked Off)
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): (Specify whether or not the item's effect is ignored by Klutz)
Fling Power & Effect: (The BP of Fling when used with this item and what secondary effect it could additionally have, like :Light Ball: causing paralysis)
Justification: If this is adjusted from an existing Item, explain why it should be changed, both competitive AND flavour wise. On that note, be sure that it is not similar to any existing Item introduced in a previous Generation X iteration or up to SV, otherwise it will be vetoed.

As previously noted, for every free slate such as this comes more regional dex nominations. You may additionally nominate up to two existing non-legendary nor mythical Pokemon families introduced in the mainline games or in a previous Gen X iteration as part of the initial "pre-dlc" regional dex. Counterparts (:Passimian::Oranguru:) and regional exclusive evos (:Mr. Rime::Clodsire:) serve as two distinct lines, other regional forms (:Marowak-Alola::Stunfisk-Galar::Tauros-Paldea:) count as one. Their final stages (or if they are a single stage) can additionally undergo adjustments to be buffed (if you feel they are undervalued) or nerfed (if you feel they are overpowered), just like a certain Pet Mod... [This serves akin to balance buffs as done by GF, such as :Rotom: forms becoming different from Electric/Ghost, :Gallade: getting Sharpness, :Shiftry: swapping Early Bird for Wind Rider, :Slowking: getting Chilly Reception, :Mantine: gaining +20 HP, and of course, :Aegislash: losing -20 to its BST. No, this is not us treading new ground, Scovillain was the forerunner to this idea.]
Name: [Name of the Pokémon]
Type: For mono-type Pokemon, you may either add or change the current type to another type, not both. For dual-type Pokemon, one of their original types must remain.
Stats
: Each stat change must be a multiple of 10. Up to a 20 point change from the original BST is permitted; the Pokemon is entitled to a buff if its BST is 470 or below; it is otherwise entitled to a nerf if its BST is 500 or above.
Abilities: For Pokemon with two Abilities, you may add another. For Pokemon with three, you are permitted to swap out one of their existing abilities. Ability changes are not permitted on a Pokemon with one singular Ability. Alternatively, you can rework one of their existing Abilities provided it has not already been reworked by someone else already. See the Ability template above.
Moves Changes: Up to four moves may be added and removed, adding to a total of eight moves. Alternatively, you can rework one of the moves they can learn, provided it has not already been subject to a rework already. See the template above.
Justification: [Explain in detail (as in, more than two sentences) why these changes should be added, both competitive AND flavour wise. Lack of either will disqualify the adjustment from being slated.]

This slate will last for at least 168 hours, and may be extended or reduced depending on forum activity.

Flavor: Awww, it's an adorable little rock candy wrapper with small brown legs and beady eyes! Bright brown spots decorate it's body, as a little dot completes the look with a smile. Despite it's innocent looks, the insides of it are as hard as solid rock. Many Pokémon have been lured to Canlumi's sweet aura, only to meet their demise when they break their teeth trying to eat it.

Flavor: Upon evolving, Paynaimo undergoes a drastic change, being inspired by the Upper Gloucester Women's Institute of New Brunswick, which published one of the earliest known recipes of the Nanaimo bar! From a Nanaimo bar shaped body with a red gem in the middle, a candy wrapper dress extends from the bottom, with a pair of legs resembling Nanaimo Bars coming from the bottom. On each of the sides of the body are two arms with pink tips at the end. The head itself has a stream of scarlet hair running down the sides, with a Nanaimo bar lodged on the right hand side, with candy wrappers on either side of it. A very innocent and also kind of maniacal Pokémon, it walks across every food source it comes across, and tests it with it's signature rock solid lollipop made of gemstones. If it finds even the slightest fault in it, it will smash it to smithereens while giggling maniacally. As such, people referred to Paynaimo as "The Famine Fairy", as they woke up to see that Paynaimo had destroyed all of their food supplies.
Name: Confectionist
Effect: This Pokémon recovers 10% of it's HP after it uses a Gourmet Move, even if the move ends up failing. Gourmet moves are Sweet Scent, Cake Scent, Decorate, Grav Apple, Apple Acid, Order Up, Spicy Extract, Fillet Away, Soft Boiled, Egg Bomb, Milk Drink, Stuff Cheeks, Syrup Bomb, Matcha Gotcha, Teatime, Aromatic Mist, Salt Cure, and Aromatherapy.
*Neither Canlumi or Paynaimo can normally use the moves in bolded italic.

Name: Nintynon (Corruption of 1991, the Chinese Year of the Metal Sheep)
Exact Mountain Habitat: Outside, on the mountain pass
Evolution: Apsovis at level 32

Ability: Heavy Metal / Sturdy | Big Metal
Base Stats: 50 / 45 / 68 / 23 / 42 / 40 (268)
Weight: 41.9 lbs.

Flavor: According to famous storyteller Old Coyote..."A man possessed by evil spirits attempts to kill his heir by pushing the young man over a cliff, but the victim is saved by getting caught in trees. Rescued by bighorn sheep, the man takes the name of their leader, Big Metal. The other sheep grant him power, wisdom, sharp eyes, sure-footedness, keen ears, great strength, and a strong heart. Big Metal returns to his people with the message that the Apsaalooka people will survive only so long as the river winding out of the mountains is known as the Bighorn River."
This Bighorn Sheep Pokémon is inspired by that legend, having a wooly coat made of pure metal, with two tiny copper horns and a pink nose making up the head's major details, with it's hooves being made of the same material as it's horns.

Flavor: Once Shinton evolves into Apsovis, it becomes a fully grown Bighorn Sheep, with long spiral horns and ears made of copper. A metallic goatee extends from it's head, while it's neck is connected to a tuft of metallic wool. Several metallic spikes make up it's tail, while a petroglyph of a bighorn sheep is imprinted on the side of it's body. A mountain guardian with a strong heart, people once tamed it in the past to send messages across dangerous locations.

Flavor: This little Snowshoe Hare Pokémon resembles the Snow Bunny item from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, abeit with blue ears and long skis extending from the bottom of it's body, along with a nose and fluffy tail made purely of ice. It spends all day sliding down mountains, climbing back to the top once it has finished sliding.

Name: Lelpine (Lepus + Alpine)
Exact Mountain Habitat: Outside, on the mountain pass
Evolution: Stratohare using an Ice Stone
Typing: Normal
Ability: Slush Rush
Base Stats: 110 / 55 / 59 / 55 / 69 / 100 (448)
Weight: 76.3 lbs.
Notable Moves: Body Slam, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Drain Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Metronome, Tackle, Growl, Powder Snow, Ice Shard, Quick Attack, Agility, Aurora Veil, Endure, Headbutt, Icicle Spear, Aromatherapy, Extreme Speed, Rain Dance, Snowscape, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Safeguard, Smack Down, Swift, Helping Hand, Trailblaze, Play Rough, Acrobatics, Zen Headbutt, U-Turn, Nature Power, Dazzling Gleam, Freeze-Dry, Ice Spinner, Icy Wind, Knock Off, Snatch, Triple Axel, Take Down, Hidden Power, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest, Attract, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute
Flavor: Upon evolving, Lelpine now resembles a rather fat Snowshoe Hare (The body in particular might remind you of a certain cartoon character who mocks people who claim "That outta hold em' alright"!) though it has very long feet as a remnant of the skis from it's previous form. It's long ears, which have blue tips on the end of them, extend far to the back of the body, and can serve as a snowboard. A pile of snow resembling a skiier's cap appears on the top of the head, which now has a white underbelly. The body itself has two paws with blue spots gathered around them. A common sight in Brunica's mountains, this childish Pokémon enjoys playing around in the snow, and looking for it's favorite food, frozen carrots.

Base Stats (Snowboard Form): 120 / 100 / 85 / 40 / 85 / 70 (500)
Weight: 114.6 lbs.
Notable Moves: Snowshoe Rush, Brick Break, Calm Mind, Bulk Up, Aerial Ace, Thief, Surf, Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Upper Hand, Body Slam, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Drain Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Metronome, Tackle, Growl, Powder Snow, Ice Shard, Quick Attack, Agility, Aurora Veil, Endure, Headbutt, Icicle Spear, Aromatherapy, Extreme Speed, Rain Dance, Snowscape, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Safeguard, Smack Down, Swift, Helping Hand, Trailblaze, Play Rough, Acrobatics, Zen Headbutt, U-Turn, Nature Power, Dazzling Gleam, Freeze-Dry, Ice Spinner, Icy Wind, Knock Off, Snatch, Triple Axel, Take Down, Hidden Power, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest, Attract, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute
Flavor: Stratohare undergoes a big change when it fully evolves! As Ski Form, It now has a long human shaped body with arms and legs that extend as much as a human's would. On the tips of these arms and legs are bright blue paws, with the body itself having a white underside, with three blue gemstones being at the centre of it, and a fluffy tuft of fur appears on the back. The head has two long ears with blue tips at the top, with it's eyes being covered with a veil of ice that resembles skiing goggles, which it can take off at will. To complete the look, Stratohare wears a bright blue scarf around it's neck. It's greatest speciality are the two ski poles it wields: with it's special ability, it can convert them into a snowboard and back! As Snowboard Form, asides from the fact that it's skis have been put together into a snowboard, it's scarf also covers up it's mouth.
Name: Equipment Change
Effect: This Pokémon starts battle as Ski Form. When this Pokémon uses any damaging moves asides from Snowshoe Rush, it switches to Snowboard Form. When it uses the move Snowshoe Rush, it switches back to Ski Form. Mechanic wise, this is identical to Stance Change, except the trigger move is Snowshoe Rush.

Typing: Rock
Ability: Prism Shell / Shell Armor | Own Tempo
Base Stats: 45 / 50 / 70 / 50 / 70 / 30 (315)
Weight: 44.1 lbs.
Notable Moves: Bind, Withdraw, Mirror Coat, Reflect Type, Rollout, Ancient Power, Octazooka, Conversion, Endure, Terrain Pulse, Weather Ball, Twin Beam, Shell Smash, Sandstorm, Sunny Day, Venoshock, Reflect, Light Screen, Safeguard, Solar Beam, Smack Down, Earthquake, Leech Life, Psychic, Shadow Ball, Rock Tomb, Sludge Bomb, Energy Ball, Stealth Rock, Explosion, Zen Headbutt, Stone Edge, Bulldoze, Rock Slide, Poison Jab, Trick Room, Dig, Giga Drain, Gunk Shot, Meteor Beam, Power Gem, Skill Swap, Water Pulse, Take Down, Hidden Power, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest, Attract, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute
Flavor: Amolitus is a Nautilus Pokémon with a spiral shell made of Ammolite, a colourful gemstone which has been claimed to be the most famous gemstone in Canada. It resides within underground ponds, despite it's typing, feeding of the beauty and shine of gemstones and rendering them as dull as a rock. It has quite the thing for pigments too, and when a Flute made from soot is played, the pigments that were used to make the flute react with Amolitus's body, causing it to evolve.

Name: Raatilus (Red + Nautilus)

Flavor: All of Amolitus's evolutions possess a very similar base look: Their ammolite shell, will still displaying some of it's beautiful colors, has now been mixed with the color that the evolution represents, and two long tentacles extend from the ones that make up it's mouth, with two tips being at the end of them. However, this is where the similarities end. Raatilus has several razor sharp spikes extending from it's shell, and the tips are jagged red daggers that can pierce through almost anything. Armed with a strive for the color red, Raatilus is the bravest of the lot, eager to go into the most dangerous of locations in search for food.

However, this is where the similarities end. Blootilus has several sideways circles extending from the shell, and the tips are bright blue discs that can serve as handy wirecutters. Despite it's blue color, Blootilus is easily the most agitated one of the lot: It has attacked travellers and drained them of their water, because it is blue like Blootilus itself.

Name: Yletilus (Yellow + Nautilus)

However, this is where the similarities end. Yletilus has one huge crescent extending from it's shell, and the tips are large round circles that oddly resemble a full moon. By moving them in front of the crescent shape on it's side, people got to know the moon's phase.

However, this is where the similarities end. Acktilus's shell extends out further than the other Amolitus evolutions, both from the top and the bottom, making it resemble the maw of a dragon: The tips allow it to further camoflauge as one by resembling a dragon's tounge. It's known as "The False Dragon of Fear" in some areas because of the fact it scares people away by making them think it is a huge dragon, when in reality Acktilus is just hiding within the shadows.

However, this is where the similarities end. Whiltilus a second head extending from the back, and even it's two tips are mouths themselves! As the master of metabolism, people once watched Whiltilus to see which foods had which tastes by watching where the food went, as each head has a different taste. Apparently, it does not get along well with Dodrio, as the Triple Bird Pokémon views it as a jealousy, as the heads always work together compared Dodrio's.

Weight: 14.6 lbs.

Flavor: This Purple Saxifrage Pokémon resembles a little seed with a bulbous body and two tiny little legs. A purple saxifrage flower appears on the top, covering it's right eye like a teenage girl. A very shy Pokémon, it will run away on the slightest trace of provocation, and as it does, it leaves behind beautiful flower seeds. As such, people once used it to help sow seeds across bountiful fields.

Name: Gartifoli (Garden + Oppositifolia)
Exact Mountain Habitat: Outside, on the mountain pass
Evolution: Violagarie at level 37
Typing: GrassGround
Ability: Seed Sower | Aroma Veil | Rattled
Base Stats: 50 / 60 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 (320)
Weight: 20.3 lbs.
Notable Moves: Mud Shot, Rototiller, Sandstorm, Earthquake, Rock Tomb, Stealth Rock, Earth Power, Stone Edge, Bulldoze, Dig, Metronome, Triple Axel, Absorb, Growth, Charm, Razor Leaf, Worry Seed, Confuse Ray, Mega Drain, Entrainment, Petal Dance, Petal Blizzard, Seed Bomb, Psyshock, Calm Mind, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Light Screen, Reflect, Safeguard, Solar Beam, Psychic, Swift, Helping Hand, Trailblaze, Grassy Terrain, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, U-Turn, Dazzling Gleam, Rock Slide, Nature Power, Leech Seed, Giga Drain, Hyper Voice, Skill Swap, Signal Beam, Trick, Take Down, Hidden Power, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest, Attract, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute
Flavor: Upon evolving, Gartifoli becomes a lot less shy, now resembling a chibified gardener. From it's body, two little legs are covered by a saxifrage dress, while two arms with purple tips at the end are attached to the body itself. It's flower hair is now a lot longer, and can be detached to serve as a form of fertilizer. It gladly helps people spread soft soil across the land, with the detachable flower hair never seeming to run out of dirt. Of course, it can still spread seeds, and it takes good care of the plants that it grows. In battle, however, it confuses it's foes by scattering the soil across them like a watering can. Often, Hikers use this Pokémon as a fast Pokémon among their slow and sturdy ones, being easily able to find out along the mountain trails.

Exact Mountain Habitat: Outside, on the mountain pass
Typing: GrassGround
Ability: Seed Sower | Aroma Veil | Mulcher

Flavor: With one last evolution, Violagarie becomes a beautiful gardener woman! It's legs now extend as much as a human's would, with green spiky tips making up it's feet. The purple tips on it's arms have now become a pair of long saxifrage flowers that it uses as seed cannons, firing them into the hearts of enemies and turning them into a living potted plants. It's long flower hair now extends to the back of the body, and it's dress now has green gems on the tips of them, with a large green gem now on the centre of it's body. Practically a walking garden centre, Violagarie makes sure that the area around it is as beautiful and healthy as possible, helping humans to allow their gardens to prosper. It is sometimes employed to cover towns in beautiful flowers of all sorts of colors.

Much like the previous slate, these two nominations are related to the slate itself.
:onix: :steelix: : These two are a commonplace for not just mountains, but also for Hikers themselves. Their greatest weakness in the past despite their powerful bulk was their slow speed and vulnerability to Water: To compensate for this, Steelix will have it's Rock Head be replaced by Sand Rush, allowing them to thrive in Sand teams: In addition, it will also be getting a brand new Balm Move! Both will be able to get Endure, Gyro Ball, and Heavy Slam via breeding, as those moves are not TMs in Brunica. Finally, as a little gimmick, Steelix will be getting back Power Shift from Hisui via the Move Reminder, being able to pass it onto Onix via breeding. (Or Power Trick if Power Shift cannot be used in a battle in this generation)
Name: Olive Rampage

:zubat: :golbat: :crobat: : With the exception of Paldea and the past three new regions, at least one cave in a region always has these bats in it. Since they didn't appear in the previous region, they can now get Poison Terrain and Toxic Shock, the latter via the move reminder, as well as Drain Fang via TM. They also gain a secondary ability at last, and a unique one at that! In addition, Crobat will be getting Ominous Wind, Dual Wingbeat, and X-Scissor back via the Move Reminder (The latter not being a TM move in this region) being able to pass it onto Zubat and Golbat via breeding. Speaking of Crobat, to finish this nomination, it will be getting a new Balm Move!

Flavor (Required): Komantice is based on Komatilte, a rare Proterozoic sample of which is found in central Manitoba, Canada. Among the minerals Komatilte forms with is Dolomite, which, wouldn't you know, we just introduced Doloice, whose name and partial inspiration draws from that mineral.
Effect: Normal-type moves become Rock-Type and are boosted by 20%.

My nominations for this slate include Doloice, because Komantile is its counterpart, which would be silly if it can't be found here, right?

I hereby nominate the Humbat line (Quite on topic for this slate, and we’ve got returnees from Loria and Desvega but not Brazdo, which Echologos hasn’t seen (or felt rather) the light of day since), and Absol (The main two legends do be wildin) to return
Pokémon: Humbat line
New Stats: (Echologos) 65 / 65 / 70 / 100 / 90 / 120 [510] (+10 Speed; Prevos are untouched)
Moves Changes: +Psychic Noise (Level-up for Echologos, egg for prevos)
Justification: Psychic-type and relies on Echolocation sounds like the perfect fit here. Also offers an alternate Psychic STAB to shut down recovery on defensive mons, though the main ones we have at the moment are Photalohm and Bibarricade, though the former can hit it back badly with Electric STAB and the latter has priority in Aqua Jet. I finally gave it some Speed because Hawkular’s sitting at 100 and it needs something to set itself apart from that, even with the lethality of Tinted Lens Hurricane.

Pokémon: Absol
Stats: 65/130/60/85/60/85 [485] (+10 SpA/Spe, both from 75)
Moves Changes: +Snowscape, -Hail
Justification: While I couldn’t find much in the way of new moves for Absol between SV and any iteration of Gen X (Snowscape replacing Hail is even something I’m unsure about whether it would count towards the total amount of movepool alterations), Speed got boosted because imagine being slow with the bulk of wet tissue paper. SpA got boosted by the same amount as Speed to keep the two stats equal and also so it could get more out of Fire Blast for example.

Starting the sub review early, just so I can additionally answer some questions posed.
Canlumi and Paynamo; Shinton and Apsovis; Snoshi, Lelpine, and Stratohare; Amotilus, Raatilus, Blootilus, Yletilus, Acktlius, and Whiltilus; Sowlixi, Gartifoli, and Violagarie
Canlumi and Paynamo: Our obligatory Fairy-type dessert. Keep away from rust, and check the labels.
Shinton & Apsovis: Big Metal is a nerfed Unseen Fist. Considering this isn't a Doubles Format, I'll let it slide. For the life of me, though, I cannot figure out how 1991 can be corrupted and combined with Sheep to form Shinton...
Snoshi, Lelpine, and Stratohare: Bunnies again, as long as this doesn't end up as fur bait I will be fine.
Amotilus and the Flutes: The most interesting nomination out of this quartet, bringing back not only a very niche item set and reworking it to something new. Prism Shell looks like a status variation of Gen VIII Protean \ Libero, held back by the fact that their status moves, as of this writing, can change them to Normal-, Psychic- and Rock-Type, in addition to their secondary type.
Komantile
...

Regarding nominations, there are, well, issues. First, to answer this question:
(Why would we Dexit a mon but not its regional variant, even with the final evos being completely different mons altogether?)
The current nomination system is for you to decide what mons can be found in Brunica, pre-dlc. Take Growlithe in SV for example. Its Kantonian form is available in the base game, but its Hisuian form cannot be found until HOME or the Teal Mask. We are currently working on the 'base game' of Brunica, so to speak; the criteria I chose ultimately is based on the Species clause, I will admit, with some pre-evos being collateral to this policy. Maybe the other forms could be added in the future after we figured out the metagame of Brunica, but until then, they will not be available... yet.

Onto current nominations. We have one for the Onix line, the Zubat line, Doloice, Unovan Venipede line, the Humbat line and Absol.
:onix: :steelix: : These two are a commonplace for not just mountains, but also for Hikers themselves. Their greatest weakness in the past despite their powerful bulk was their slow speed and vulnerability to Water: To compensate for this, their niche Rock Head ability will be replaced for each family member: Onix will have it's Rock Head be replaced with Sturdy, allowing it to fare better against Grass and Water opponents, while Steelix's has it's Rock Head become Sand Rush, allowing them to thrive in Sand teams. The two also gets brand new Balm Moves, one for Onix, and one for Steelix!

[/SPOILER]
For the Onix line, the first issue is that the nominee would like to change their Rock Head ability. The issue arises when they want Onix's Rock Head to be changed to... Sturdy, its other standard Ability. Are you asking for Onix's abilities to be Sturdy / Sturdy / Weak Armor? Is it not Sturdy enough?
Second, they have two different Balm Moves. As the one who made the gimmick, I would have personally preferred it if each line had only one Type Balm move; it's not to say you can't do it, but to give it the same type seems like a bit of a waste.
Third, Power Shift is a move that we technical know what it does - being a clone of Power Trick - though the fact that it's not usable, not even via Metronome, gives me reason to wonder if we should have it usable here.
For the Zubat line, my gripe comes down to the 'Venom Asset' volatile status of the Balm move, which reminds me a lot of Coalossol's Tar Shot, a move that, while intriguing, ultimately sees very little use. Aside from that, define what you mean by immunities? By type? By Ability?
Pokémon: Unovan Venipede line
Moves Changes: +Poison Terrain (all), +Toxic Shock (Whirlipede and Scolipede)
Justification: Common fare among Poison-types

Pokémon: Humbat line
Moves Changes: +Psychic Noise (Level-up for Echologos, egg for prevos)
Justification: Psychic-type and relies on Echolocation sounds like the perfect fit here. Also offers an alternate Psychic STAB to shut down recovery on defensive mons, though the main one we have at the moment is Photalohm, which blasts it back with Electric STAB.

Pokémon: Absol
Stats: 65/130/60/85/60/85 [485] (+10 SpA/Spe, both from 75)

Justification: While I couldn’t find much in the way of new moves for Absol between SV and any iteration of Gen X (Snowscape replacing Hail is even something I’m unsure about whether it would count towards the total amount of movepool alterations), Speed got boosted because imagine being slow with the bulk of wet tissue paper. SpA got boosted by the same amount as Speed to keep the two stats equal and also so it could be more inclined to run Fire Blast or something as a gotcha.
It is mentioned in the introduction that this slate permits two nominations, not three. One of your adjustments will need to be removed.

Keep on with your subs!

Height + Weight: 0.7 m / 40.1 kg
Notable Moves: Snowbank*, Ice Spinner, Earthquake, Milk Drink, Bulk Up, Snowscape, Aurora Veil, Stealth Rock
Flavor (Required): An ecologically similar Pokemon to Skiddo, this Pokemon is known for its helpful nature when others are stuck in the mountains of Brunicia. It willingly lets others ride it and it glides through the snow with the grace of a hockey player.

Name: Gogoxen (gogo+muskoxen)
Counterpart(s) / Evolutionary Members: Gogoat
Typing: Ice/Ground
Ability: Lightningrod | Speed Boost
Base Stats: 123 / 110 / 67 / 87 / 86 / 58 (531)
Height + Weight: 1.4m / 400kg
Notable Moves: As above + Rapid Spin, Chilly Reception, Spikes
Flavor (Required): Drawing on features of a muskox (big beard) and a zamboni (a tail that plows ice out of the way), Gogoxen are frequently used by hiking groups where they take turns alternating clearing a path. Sometimes they are also used in cities to move snow out of the way in the long Brunician winters. (fun fact: muskox actually display convergent evolution from some goats)

Snowbank: Ice-type. 80BP. Physical. 100acc. 20pp. The user slams into the opponent, moving everything in the way. The effects of any entry hazards on the opponent's side are reapplied (Spikes/SR take damage again, TSpikes attempts to poison again, Webs lowers speed again).

In the past, Galarian Ponyta were captured from the wild in great numbers and then brought to Brunica as beasts of burden, and in particular they were used to haul heavy loads through the tunnels used for mining. The Ponyta, as you do, were not too fond of the inhumane labor conditions and thus escaped and went feral, though not before losing the Psychic typing in exchange for Steel. (Kantonian Ponyta are useless for mining, mind you, partly because of their claustrophobia and partly because a fiery mane consumes oxygen over time - not the best choice in caves and tunnels with limited oxygen to begin with.) For every load of precious ore they transported, the Ponyta were given some of this ore as a reward in the vein of a salt lick. All that metal they lapped up had to go somewhere, so over time, their hides and horns became infused with it, growing far more durable as a result; their added muscle from hauling loads was also useful for carrying around this added weight, so even though they're no longer used in the tunnels, they still make for fantastic load-haulers and valuable fun-sized assistants for all sorts of heavy work.

The main body of this Ponyta variant is almost white like the other two kinds of Ponyta, but has a very pale bluish hue with some luster to it like shimmering silver, and the mane, tail, and fetlocks are similar to Galarian Ponyta (with which it shares a common ancestor), but instead of cool pastel colors, they're a beautiful, shining gold; the animated sprites would probably include sparkles winking throughout these parts. The mane and tail are also shorter than Galarian Ponyta's, with the golden part of the tail actually starting only halfway down the otherwise narrow tail, a little more ox-like than horse-like. In males, there's also a short goat-like beard on the chin like a curved spike with a smaller spike behind it at the base. The eyes meanwhile are more akin to Kantonian Ponyta's than their Galarian cousin's, and though black in color they do have a reddish tint to them. The hooves have a small seam in the middle that makes them seem almost cloven, and they along with the long horn are bronze-colored; the horn is twice as long as in Galarian Ponyta and has three thin golden stripes on it, and is even able to spin like a drill so that it can tunnel its way to freedom in case of a cave-in. The body is, overall, a little stockier and more muscular-looking than the other two types of Ponyta, like a very tiny draft horse more than anything else; notably, its coat also has thin seams on the joints as well, almost resembling a suit of armor.

"In the past, these Ponyta were used for labor in caves used for mining for metal ore. As a reward, they were fed some of the ore itself, resulting in their coats and drill-like horns becoming metallic over time."

Notable Moves:
  • Level-Up: Same as Ponyta (Brunica), but with added starting move Sacred Sword.
  • New TMs: Same as Ponyta (Brunica)
Flavor:
Looking for all the world like a type-swapped cross-breed between Mudsdale and the Galarian Ponyta line, Alicheron truly redefines the trope of the mighty, noble steed. As Brunican Ponyta evolved and were brought up to the surface world for above-ground labor, some escaped and turned feral, and in the wild they're so dangerous that only the most gentle and innocent trainers can hope to catch one. However, domesticated specimens are the go-to choice of mount for any self-respecting law enforcer - in other words, no Officer Jenny in this region would be complete without one!

While built more like Mudsdale than Rapidash, Alicheron is slightly more slender than the former for greater running speed, more like a Percheron (a French draft horse breed) than a Clydesdale. Instead of dreadlocks it has the same golden mane, tail tuft, and fetlocks as its pre-evo, though unlike Galarian Rapidash, they retain the same curliness as with Galarian Ponyta, with numerous "tails" on the back edges. The white, narrow part of the tail is twice as long proportionally as its pre-evo, and normally curves upwards so the tuft covering the latter half trails behind it like a medieval pennant; there's also a small curled spike of hair on the base of the tail and one midway along the curved white portion on the underside with a smaller spike branching from the base of each, similar to the two-pointed hair tufts on many heraldic animals' tails. the mane is similar, and there are two golden wing-like tufts on the shoulders that also flare sightly upwards before flowing back in the same way, not unlike the wing tufts of Mega Absol. The fetlocks are a mix of Mudsdale's and Galarian Ponyta's except gold like the mane, tail, and wing tufts, with bronze ends that sport three notches, Mudsdale style, in a way that suggests cloven hooves. The head is overall similar to Kantonian Rapidash's, the eyes being solid red with a furious glare, but its upper side, save for a slot around and between the eyes like a visor, is covered with a plate of solid metal armor, the mane extending partway down its upper part in a manner reminiscent of the plume of a knight's helmet; the snout is left uncovered, as is the lower jaw and chin. Mounted on the forehead is an immense and extremely deadly horn with a thick base that actually briefly flares out to a slightly wider diameter before narrowing the rest of the way, its bronze color and golden stripes being reminiscent of a jousting lance (fittingly, the horn is used similarly in battle, though like its pre-evo it's also useful as a drill to break through rocks in search of metal ores for nourishment). The ears are long and donkey-like, Mudbray-style, and have curly spiked tufts on the ends like the ones on the tail; males also have a short beard on the chin like Kalosian Ponyta except now it's golden like the mane. The rest of the body is still silvery white like Kalosian Ponyta, with seams all over suggesting armor, but the back and the top of the neck now have a row of armored plates like Larion's except without the dorsal spines and with smaller bronze studs like rivets instead of black holes. This armor is styled after medieval horse barding, being formed by fusion and metallic reinforcement of the hairs of its coat in a manner akin to pangolin scales or rhinoceros horns in real life. This armor, along with the headplate, is steel-gray in color, though it still sports a polished sheen to it and seemingly won't ever rust or wear out.

The shiny sprites for this line are still silvery-white, but the golden parts are instead bluish silver, the eyes are blue instead of red, the bronze parts are black like the Galarian Ponyta line's hooves and horns, and in the case of Alicheron, the armor is rust-red. It's therefore been suggested that Alicheron's armor normally has a tarnish-proof quality akin to stainless steel, and that of the shiny seemingly lacks this property.

Potential Competitive Role:
Both kinds of Rapidash have a stat spread of 65/100/70/80/80/105, and Rapidash is meant to be a physical attacker, but sadly lacks the movepool or abilities for the job, so I decided to try and redeem this line competitively through Alicheron by really leaning into its intended niche. Starting from the above stat spread, I thus nerfed each special stat and buffed the corresponding physical stat, and sacrificed Speed for additional physical Defense. The added Fighting type, despite depriving it of a couple of resistances that it would've enjoyed as a pure Steel-type, gives it STAB on some powerful attacks such as Close Combat (via TR) and Sacred Sword, and there's even something to be said for Revenge if you can get it to eat a physical attack and live (it has fewer type resistances than a pure Steel-type, sure, but it's still got eight of them including double-resistances to Rock and Bug in case someone with Head Smash or Megahorn tries anything). Fairy-type coverage helps take down other Fighting-types that it's otherwise weak to, but Ground and Fire are trickier - while it's not impossible for it to survive an incoming Earthquake, some of the most frequently used Fire-type moves are special, and its 60 Special Defense being its Achilles heel (even lower than Skarmory's 70!) means it'll no doubt be melted to slag by a single Fire Blast. At least it can learn several Ground- and Rock-type moves via TM or breeding, so perhaps it might be worth including, say, Earthquake or High Horsepower in a potential moveset, though that still leaves it with no answer to Ground-types, and unlike Kantonian Rapidash who can at least learn Solar Beam and Solar Blade via TM, poor Alicheron gets no Grass-type moves at all. Then again, of course, if you're putting it out against a Ground-type at all, that's on you, really.

Despite Run Away being all but useless as it is, I sadly had to keep it to maintain the spirit of the canonical Ponyta variant; I debated as to whether to replace it with something more useful in the case of Alicheron, but ultimately I decided to maintain consistency and bank on Rock Head, which would enable it to use Gold Rush (along with the other powerful recoil moves it can learn, e.g. Head Smash) without eventually committing suicide and which would give it a powerful Steel-type STAB move as it by all means should have. I did however give Run Away itself a buff for this pet mod, so that with it this line won't have to worry about getting caught by trapping moves or abilities and can switch out with impunity, as though it's got a built-in Shed Shell without having to use up the item slot. With decent Speed and access to U-Turn, this can enable Alicheron to also work as a decent pivot, or at least give it a better chance at pulling off a tactical retreat in the face of a counter.

"Their metallic coats resist most attacks, allowing them to retaliate fiercely. They prefer the gentler company of children than adults, but they're nonetheless powerful mounts and guardians to those who can earn their respect."

I'm sorry to say that while Galarian Ponyta is cute, my incredibly subjective personal opinion is that Galarian Rapidash was a waste of an opportunity to really delve into the fantastical design elements of the medieval unicorn, which is more than just a horse with a horn! Given that France and Canada have had some pretty close historical association, I decided to come up with a variant that really leans into the more heraldic aspects of the unicorn, particularly how it used to be portrayed as a stab-happy hybrid of goat, horse, and deer that can only be approached by virgins (and even then, some accounts of virgin/unicorn interactions could get pretty skeevy, but, uh, let's not go there, alright?). To distinguish Alicheron from its prissy British cousin, I based it off a war horse with knight-like armor and a jousting lance for a horn, with wing-like tufts on the shoulders as a nod to not only the artistic motif of the winged unicorn (which is actually much, much older than a certain New Tens cartoon, with depictions known from as far back as ancient Assyria), but also the hussars of Poland, cavalry knights with fancy wing-like ornamentation. Alicheron's shiny color palette is also a reference to rusted iron, as well as one of the original accounts of the creature, Ctesias' Indian unicorn which is white, red, and black in color with blue eyes and a donkey-like appearance (hence the subtle nods to the Mudbray line I worked into its design).

This line was originally submitted for the defunct Regional Evolutions mod for Gen 8 as a Kalosian Ponyta line, adapted to the same mining cave that Zygarde was found in. When I moved it to Brunica, though, I had to find an alternate justification for making it a Steel-type, and found that ponies actually were used in mining in historical times, including in some places in Canada. Thus, the flavor that Brunican Ponyta used to be used for mining, a practice which has since been outlawed for their own safety, though the type change to Steel had already happened by then. I thought about changing it to Rock or Ground, but that would've made it too similar to Mudbray, and I liked the jousting war horse angle, so I guess the Steel type is here to stay for this one.

Flavor:
A small, weedy lizard Pokémon with a segmented look to its dark red skin and light orange underbelly, Sqamhalia is notable for a pair of short horns jutting up from over its large green eyes, but more importantly, it also has a striking orange, semicircular fin on its back like a Dimetrodon, which it can use to absorb energy from sunlight or even enemy attacks; it also has a leaf-shaped skin flap of the same color on the end of its tail for flair. Its hind legs are longer than its front legs and its tail takes up over half the length of its body, enabling it to stand up in a tripodal position to throw energy blasts from its palms, either Kamehameha- or Hadoken-style. Its feet have three long toes each with pointy tips suggesting claws, allowing it to climb rather well despite its wimpy figure - it's often found clinging to rocky cliffs, tree trunks, and the sides of buildings to bask in the sun, but will scamper away swiftly if confronted, reserving its energy blasts only for when absolutely necessary.

"This cowardly Pokémon senses Aura through the fin on its back, and will quickly flee from even possible danger. If it has to fight, it uses its long tail to prop itself up on its hind legs, allowing it to sling blasts of Aura with pinpoint accuracy."

  • TM/Tutor Moves: Same as Squamhalia, but with added moves Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Flamethrower, Sludge Bomb, Fire Blast, Dragon Pulse, Will-O-Wisp, Heat Wave, Outrage, Temper Flare, and Draco Meteor
Flavor:
A vicious, brutal reptilian Pokemon with a somewhat Gen-I feel to it, this predatory beast looks like a cross between a vintage carnivorous tail-dragging theropod, a lizard, and an Asian dragon. It has a relatively long yet thick torso and an even longer tapering tail, its large hind legs and its smaller grasping arms both resembling Charizard's, with three claws each; it can move on either four legs or two depending on which works better. When reared up, it drags its tail along the ground while holding its spine diagonally, retrosaur-style. It has a medium-length, serpentine but muscular neck and a large head with a pair of short horns and huge and powerful jaws full of fangs, somewhat resembling that of Aerodactyl but with a shorter, broader snout and two large saber fangs on the upper jaw that remain visible when the mouth is shut. Instead of a beak, it has a short trunk like Drowsee's, and its horns are longer than Aerodactyl or Charizard with an extra point near the base to resemble antlers; a pair of barbels also extends from near the nostrils like a Fu Manchu mustache. Patches of large, diamond-shaped, overlapping scales are visible upon its sides, neck, and upper limbs, but the belly is ridged like Dragonite's, while the upper surface sports a row of segmented armor plates all the way down the neck, back, and tail as well as a plate like a helmet on top of its head; however, it also has a ridge of fur like a shorter version of Zoroark's mane running down the back of the neck, starting from the forehead to just before the shoulders, and a matching large tuft on the end of the tail; smaller tufts of fur are also visible around its wrists, on its shoulders, and atop each thigh. This fur glows and billows in the air as it uses its special attacks, implying that it channels its power through it. The dorsal sail of the pre-evolution is also taller and more vividly colored, shaped and colored in a manner invoking a sunset. It is primarily golden in color with bronze-colored back armor and horns, and its belly and facial whiskers are cream-colored, while its fur is the same red shade as on Charmeleon's body with the tufts tipped with brick red, and the sail is a striking orange edged with the same red as the fur; the shiny inverses this by having red scales along with brick-red armor and light orange belly/barbels, but golden fur tufts tipped with bronze and a yellowish white sail, like a sunrise rather than a sunset. For both color palettes, the eyes are a fierce lime green with vertical slits for pupils, it's teeth and talons are white, and its snakey forked tongue is a dull pink.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Wherever Azhdashti goes, destruction and chaos are certain to follow. This hulking beast is slower than molasses, sure, but why outrun your foes when nuking them from afar works just as well? There are actually only four non-Max, non-Z-move special Fighting-type moves in existence (Secret Sword being exclusive to Keldeo and not flavor-appropriate for this big lizard), and I had to use every single one of them here, but they're far from useless in this case, especially with that frankly ridiculous Special Attack stat. Your best bets at Fighting STAB are Aura Sphere for the accuracy and Focus Blast for sheer damage output, though the latter's meh accuracy might be an issue as is tradition. Dragon STAB of course comes in the form of Draco Meteor, but if you want something without recoil, Dragon Pulse is a decent standby as well. Coverage includes Fire, Electric, Grass, Poison, Dark, and Ground-type moves of various effectiveness, meaning it has an answer to every single type it is weak against, though with the prompt specifically calling for Overheat and that being the Fire equivalent to Draco Meteor, you can certainly run that as an insurance measure against Fairy-types which are resistant at the minimum to both STAB options, along with surprising Ice-types if it can get the drop on them. Its slow speed, high defense and rather decent special defense (Fairy-types notwithstanding) also allow for an easier time proccing Berserk, though if it absolutely needs to heal up, it's important to remember that Draining Kiss is a special attack, making it more viable than Drain Punch despite lacking STAB, though Giga Drain isn't a bad idea either if you find yourself up against something weak to Grass. Be aware though that its Speed and physical Attack are basically its dump stats, which can come back to bite it in the tail if it isn't careful - that double-weakness to Fairy is no fun at all.

"As it grapples with its prey, it clamps its jaws upon them to drain their life force, allowing it to heal itself, boost its strength, or project destructive projectiles of dragon energy. Sometimes, though, it can't help but devour its downed adversary in one gulp."

This line is based on several kinds of lizards which were introduced into North America. Canada has rather low lizard diversity but it does have one invasive lizard species, the common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis). Further south, the southern U.S., especially Florida, has had an issue with the Nile monitor (Varanus niloticus). Monitor lizards are named because they rear up on their hind legs to see better, but also to fight like wrestlers over mates and territory - hence the Fighting type for this line. The generic name Varanus is derived from the Arabic waral, meaning "lizard beast", and as it turns out, Islam is the second-largest religion in Canada, practiced by approximately 5% of the population! The evolution is thus based on the Azhdaha, a dragon from Persian mythology which is said to be vicious and destructive like a European dragon, but has an appearance more an Asian dragon, though with a few unique twists like a trunk on its nose. This sort of transitional nature does make sense given how the Middle East is sandwiched between the two continents, but this design also incorporates characteristics of Japanese kaiju like many Kanto designs did. Persia was situated in the region that would eventually become modern-day Iran, so I referenced the Iranian form of wrestling to inform the overall design, as it is heavily ritualized and based largely on display with body contact being done only in the climactic match. Both stages also take cues from the old practice of slurpasaurs, the colloquial term for gluing rubber features like fins, spikes, and horns onto lizards or other reptiles and then using special filming tricks to make them look big enough to (unconvincingly) pass off as "dinosaurs".

Azhdashti actually originates from one of my first subs for the Fakemon Frontier pet mod, though it didn't win, and I've been trying to pitch it or at least a variation on it since then. I hope the modifications I gave to it will be enough that this time, it'll finally get its chance to shine!

Flavor:
Skarmory and Mantine were version counterparts in Gold and Silver, in that they were both single-stage Flying-types with a BST of 465. Mantine, however, got a pre-evolution in Generation IV, and an additional 20 HP in Generation VII. As such, Skarmory kinda sorta needs a buff of its own, as well as a pre-evo to go with it. To this end, I decided to introduce a "version counterpart" of sorts to Mantyke, and while I've had that idea since long, long before Brunica was even A Thing, I figured it'd be good to submit the same idea to this mod, and since Skarmory is nominated as noted above, it was only fitting to not only give it a buff to its stats and one of its abilities, but also give it a pre-evo for completeness' sake. The other reason for Skarmini's existence is so its evolution will have access to one very specific status move to make use of: Shell Smash, which increases Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed at the cost of both Defense stats. Combined with Blade Runner and its increased critical hit ratio, along with Sharpness giving a 50% boost to Aerial Ace as well, a few turns tanking hits and popping off a few Shell Smashes will be enough to turn an already formidable physical tank into an absolutely brutal physical sweeper.

Skarmini itself looks like a naked, featherless chick that hatches with soft, pink skin; only the solid metal helmet (silver normally but gold in the shiny) over its entire head, including its permanently shut eyelids, offers any protection, though its beak is hinged like the helmet's visor (the eyelids doubling as the hinge points) with the nostrils leading right into the mouth cavity. It has a three-pointed dark tail and dark feet with a single claw each, and its little wings are entirely featherless. The Skarmory couple that raises it puts it in their nest of thorns for its protection, and its body gets pricked by the thorns in its nest so much that it becomes tougher and more callused as it ages, feeding on metal brought by its parents all the while. Once strong enough to leave the nest, it climbs up and then jumps back off the faces of the cliffs it lives upon every day to practice flying - this always ends with a splitting headache from bonking its hard head on the rocky bottom, but it just picks itself back up and climbs back up again each time. As such, the people of Brunica revere both it and its evolution as symbols of perseverance in the face of adversity, literally toughened up by the harshness of their habitat. Its wing feathers grow in only when it evolves, and that's after it's collected enough metal to fuse into the parts of its skin where feathers would normally grow.

This design was purchased by me from bonelessnerd on Tumblr, who originally based it off the bird in a helmet from Hieronymus Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights. I figured it'd be a good idea to try and submit it for Brunica with Skarmory itself as a nomination to go with it, but if anything purchased or adopted from someone else is banned from being submitted by default, I won't hesitate to withdraw it.

"Their heads are covered in thick armor - even their eyelids - but their bodies are soft and vulnerable. Their parents place them in nests of thorns to toughen them up."

Once per switchin, this Pokémon’s sound moves deal an additional 1/4th of the targets HP
Base Stats: 85 HP / 89 Atk / 77 Def / 99 SpA / 58 SpD / 107 Spe (515 bst)
Height + Weight: 1.4m, 179 kg

90 BP, 8pp special rock move, changes the opponents ability to soundproof
Flavor (Required): rock type based on a popular rock band. This Pokemon has put a lot of effort into shaping a large rock into a guitar shape, and often believes that it can produce sound. This however doesn’t happen as the music it plays is purely composed of vocals that sound similar to a guitar

Second sub review, pleased to see more participants. Veto-worthy things are listed in red:
Knockit, Steevul; Bigsoot, Detonape, Blastquatch
Steevul: Nothing wrong with the sub in terms of stats or type, but a slight nitpick in the move. We have a Steel-type slicing move introduced in Blade Runner, so you could either change the slicing tag or Pick-Apart's type.
Blastquatch: It's no longer up to be a starter, so it can't have a starter Ability. Change Blaze and remove Fire Pledge & Blast Burn.
Sleddo, Gogoxen; Lokolmotive
Gogoxen: From the looks of things, Snowbank's effect looks like an Ice-Type variant of the move Iron Strike introduced in Desvega. You may want to match Snowbank's BP to that.
Lokolmotive: It says Carkol that eat a more metallic diet evolve into Lokolmotive, but you neglected to translate that into actual in-game terms. Does it need to use a Steel-type move a certain amount of times? Does it need to hold a metal-based item? Does it need to beat a certain amount of Steel-type Pokemon? Does it need to use a Steel-type move to knock out Steel-type Pokemon while holding a Steel-based item? Point is, provide the method that allows Carkol to evolve into Lokolmotive instead of Coalossal.
Sqamhalia, Azhdashti; Brunican Ponyta, Alicheron
Azhdashti: Looks like we have our Magikarp-to-Gyarados equivalent. I would like to stress (and I'm fairly certain the folks over at Paleomons or Fusion Evolution also gave you this earful as well) that Brunica does not follow Scarlet & Violet's list of TMs. We have our own set of Universals, check the bloody spreadsheet, thank you.
Alicheron: I should have expressed this the last time you subbed it, but it would be preferable if you had two different moves (that also includes by type) introduced with the line. Even in the mainline games, very few mons have new moves of the same type and category that shared equal spotlight (Blue Flare and Fusion Flare, for example). Change or remove one of the new moves.
Mabass, Felsound, Maftra
An incomplete sub. Feedback will come later.

Ability: Rivalry / Rock Head / Sap Sipper (HA)
Base Stats: 75 HP / 120 Atk / 100 Def / 60 SpA / 60 SpD / 65 Spe (480 BST)
Notable Moves: Head Smash, Double-Edge, Cripple Cobbler*, Zen Headbutt, Stone Edge, Earthquake, Iron Head, Body Press, Iron Defense, Wild Charge, Close Combat, Stealth Rock
Rock-type, physical, 80 BP, 100 Acc, Lowers target's speed by 1 stage (Loria)
Height + Weight: 1.8m, 150kg
Flavour/Design: Batteram live in herds among the Brunican mountain tops, each led by a single alpha male. Male Batteram battle for dominance over the females, crashing into one another with their tough, rocky horns until one is defeated. They retreat into caves during bad weather.
Batteram are based on bighorn sheep, covered with rocky armor plates on their shoulders, knees, and back. The males have large, impressive spiral horns which they ram into one another with, the females have smaller horns (only aesthetic stat/ability wise).
Potential Competitive Role: Physical/Choice Band wallbreaker. Rock Head with STAB Head Smash and Double-Edge, anti-Water coverage with Wild Charge, or EdgeQuake coverage with Earthquake.
