Game Freak hit with another hack, info leaking

Assuming Tetto was meant to line up with Steel Tower It was probably not a Zygarde and probably not Zeraora
Funnily my first thought is Dural/Archaludon, which would also explain the latter's Electro-Shot signature in a funny way. The point brought up about the Electric/Steel vs Yveltal and Xerneas typing just reminds me how weird Zygarde's typing is in the role of a Trio master for them.

I have a circle of friends chomping at the bit for ORAS info. Scrapped Megas, other planned content, more of those Character Beta sheets, etc.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of the curiosity is around the Delta Episode stuff. While the game itself keeps details vague, my gut feels like Aster gets some kind of outline or elaboration in anything drafted about Zinnia and the Draconids, so this could be the first big chance for "newly" learning about a character rather than adding context/a spin on a detailed depiction. I'm also curious about what they were think for things like Devonn Corp. or Mauville given their morally dubious nature, like if other depictions "invented" things like the Adventures Manga where Aster was the preceding Lorekeeper who they freakin incinerated (which is a much more ruthless/malicious idea than anything the games allude to by comparison)

Moreso with the fact that, coincidentally, Archaludon also shares the same Base Stat Total of 50% form (base form) Zygarde, which is 600 BST.

I said coincidentally, since Archaludon’s low Special Defense compared to most Pseudo-Legends means Xerneas and Yveltal will just brute force with Aura-Boosted STAB on the special side anyways. I do agree that’s a funny thought!

I know that's supposed to be Diancie but I'll do it anyways

Ok, so

ORAS stuff is starting to trickle out, and this is apparently from the design document talking about the Battle Resort. In other words, if we're interpreting this right, the Frontier was never under consideration.

In addition, Centro claims there is STILL no additional cut Mega evidence. Not even Flygon, it is literally just Jynx between both Gen 6 titles with any surviving trace.

Too much interesting stuff was in the XY leaks so I guess ORAS had to swoop in to slap us with the fattest Nothing Ever Happens to compensate

I think it’s interesting to see how ORAS salvaged more from XY’s cut content than I’d have thought.

I’ve mentioned before that there was an interview with Masuda and Ohmori where they said that Cosplay Pikachu was thought up during XY development but didn’t make the cut. And now we have evidence that they also planned soaring in the sky, a create-a-Gym feature, and a “Battle Island” for XY*, all of which found their way back into ORAS. I wonder at what point in ORAS’s development they knew Z wasn’t going to happen, and had to start making choices about what could be saved, what could maybe be punted to SM, and what just wasn’t going to happen at all.

* I suspect that the Battle Island was going to be a bespoke location for XY’s Battle Maison, which then perhaps had to be relocated to Kiloude City once most of south Kalos got the axe. Meanwhile, it’s always been interesting to me that instead of just recreating the Battle Tower as it was in RS, they decided to create a new island resort with Kalos’s very distinct battle facility.

I've said it for a while, but ORAS and SM both inherited a lot of the third-version baggage.

ORAS:

-post game stuff
-origin story for mega stones
-events for a bunch of mythicals
-full mega roster

SM:

-zygarde complete stuff
-sina / other guy making a return
-potentially the entire alien plot (no confirm yet ofc)

Like I said the Battle Resort was in the design document, which seems like a pretty basic thing you lay out before you start doing shit. Coupled with Southern Kalos being nuked from the map as of XY's August 2012 build and the answer to your question is most likely "pretty early, if not right at the start".

-potentially the entire alien plot (no confirm yet ofc)
XY Aliens is dead btw. It was discovered that originally AZ was going to be the main villain, presumably not remorseful and trying to finish what he started 3,000 years ago. The 4chan post made no mention of this so into the trash it goes.

So here's another point of intrigue: Seems like at one point they were considering including Max from the Advanced Generation anime. Wonder what he would've done. Any animeheads here got clues?

Oh man there is SO many cut mons
Looking at the beta kanto starter megas, it seems like they were going for an 'awakened sage' theme with megas in general. In the final game, the most obvious example is of course Mega Alakazam, becoming a yogi. But it also seems to have influenced several Megas having prominent chin details, evocative of a beard and a wizened appearance.

Other elements of enlightenment/awakening is also hinted at with Mega Gengar's third eye, or how Mega Mewtwo Y was known as its Awakened Form before release.

Personally, I'm glad that they didn't adhere to that theme too closely, since I think it allowed them explore more directions a super form can go.

I assume (I'm also assuming this is explicitly labeled as Max and not jsut a proposed redesign for the School Kid class that he was based on originally) he would have just been a cameo added to Norman's gym/our house or a sibling for the other player.

What are you talking about? Mega Garchomp is terrible, it was only OU by technicality (since it can't exactly be tiered lower than regular Garchomp). It has consistently been an absolute downgrade from regular Garchomp, a waste of your Mega slot, and seen near zero usage, even in Gen 8 and 9 NatDex where it has access to Scale Shot. And it doesn't fair any better in VGC either.
Its always had a niche Monotype, even in National Dex Mono. It’s one of the few special attackers Ground has access to- And it arguably has the best bulk of the Special Attacking Ground types. It’s thank to this bulk increase that allows Mega Garchomp to check Belly Drum Azumarill, a huge threat to Ground teams. Mega Garchomp also allows the use of slower water immune Pokémon like Gastrdon and Clodsire. Sand Force also makes excellent compliment to Hippowdon and Tyranitar. As someone who used Mega Garchomp extensively, the best way to use it to preserve the Mega Evolution until you are sure you don’t need the speed advantage or you are in a scenario where the bulk is required. It can be also effective lure against Pokémon like Skarmory, Scizor and Pelipper and surprise them with Fire Blast and Draco Meteor respectively.

Okay, I have looked though the half a dozen or so pictures from the leak that included Southern Kalos. This is what I was able to find compiling it all together:

South Kalos Areas:

To me it seems like a lot of southern kalos just got regrouped into northern kalos concepts. Since this was so early on in planning when it got cut, I can probably see a lot of these routes not having fully fleshed out concepts, too.

Well, looks like Mega Jynx did get its design finalized, in case you wanted to know how far along it got before being sent to the shadow realm.
even aside from Jynx, it's fun to think of how far along the Pokemon were at the day they were announcing BW2.

This is neat, a little bit of extra Gen 2 things with some help of Gen 4 stuff

As revealed by a file in the HGSS leak, we now know the names of every unused dungeon in GS:

Kanto-
D03: Cerulean Cave
D06: Power Plant
D07: Pokemon Tower
D08: Underground Path (Routes 7-8)
D09: Silph Co.
D10: Safari Zone
D11: Seafoam Islands
D12: Pokemon Mansion

Kansai (September 98 - February 99 Johto)-
D13: Tower 1 Kansai D1 (Nagoya)
D14: Castle 1 Kansai D2 (Nagoya)
D16: Tower 1 Kansai D4 (Osaka or Kobe)
D19: Tower 1 Kansai D7 (Iga)
D20: Tower 1 Kansai D8 (Biwako)
D21: Tower 1 Kansai D9 (Yamanashi)

Johto-
D28: Whirl Island 1
D29: Whirl Island 2
D30: Whirl Island 3
D31: Whirl Island 4
D32: Haunted House
D33: Blackthorn Frozen Cave
D34: Mt. Silver Cave

With the exception of Haunted House, the Johto dungeons were all reused with later IDs.

Hey just like the game itself:mehowth:

So they were planning a more expanded Kalos after all. Kiloude City being the only new postgame area, this city separated from everything felt pretty awkward after Sinnoh's Battle Zone and East Unova. XY having this much cut content is unsurprising, I mean, one of the postgame missions has the player visit a copypasted Lysandre Labs' floor, it's clear to see that they had a lot more planned for that game that didn't come to fruition.
