I told myself I wasn’t going to get this game. I told myself I wouldn’t cave. Especially after that whole AI art drama. I don’t want to play any of the mobile games anymore. And I still haven’t downloaded this, and I quit both GO and Masters. But something about this new set that came out seems extremely familiar. Can’t quite put my finger on it, though… it’s not like this set features an oddly specific combination of Legendaries that were all on the cover of a game together or something, right?
Between this and the last set, I think this game is trying to tell me something… eh, probably thinking too much into this. While I would call myself a big Johto fan, I don’t know if I’d call myself enough to want to start playing an entire game just because of a couple TCG sets of it. I’ll let you guys decide. Would you “recommend” this to someone, for lack of better word? I mean, it’s just another F2P mobile game, it’s not a big deal or anything.

I enjoy the game more than I expected to and just play with the free stuff but I don't think I'd recommend unless something seemed fun to you. Especially at this juncture since you'd be needing to pull on multiple sets (such is the way of gacha).
Like I guess if you jsut raelly want to see the new cards in-game and move the cards around and maybe play a few matches? That's probably fine. Then just uninstall when the luster wears off. The one upshot of these kind of games is, ideally, you can just put them back down.
Also for clarity it wasn't an AI art issue. The issue was they gave the artist fan art (considering the fan art itself was based on official merch, I can see the line of how this happened, even if they really shouldn't have had it happen to begin with) as part of their materials and told them to reference the materials very closely due to how immersive arts work.
I remember hearing online somewhere it was another AI theft situation, but this matches more with what I was pretty sure actually happened. Stupid fake news outlets. In any case, thanks for getting back to my post. It looks decent, I suppose, certainly welcome as I don’t collect the physical cards anymore (thanks, local scalpers) and most of my friends don’t play the TCG anymore anyways. I tend to give mobile games a lot of crap regardless of the franchise, with only a select few ever holding my interest over time. I may opt to give this a shot, but I probably wouldn’t be that interested in the PVP side of it- said friends I mentioned earlier got me into Magic: the Gathering in college and I strongly prefer their PVP over Pokémon’s.

The game is amazing, it fixes so many of the issues with OG TCG. Also, you can legit make a lot of good decks as a f2p player.

Good news for everyone complaining about new sets coming out too fast, (In other words: everyone) the next set is nothing but reprints and new art!
Bad News for anyone who like collecting alternate art cards: It's only going to be available for a month. I'm going to be SO annoyed if there's an Immersive Art card and I'm not lucky enough to open it. I'll be even more annoyed if there's multiple.
One of the alternate art cards is Full Art Professor's Research. Even if you don't get one (Odds are you won't.) it's still going to be cool to see when other people play it. It'd still be nice to get one because full art Trainer Cards are always the better looking ones, right?

My spare ex situation is very sparse so I try to keep hold of them for future purposes, also sorry (though...checking my collection I'm not sure I would be able to trade anything from Shining Revelry anyway....)
Well, this might be the worst bs this game has pulled so far:
- Deluxe Pack EX consists of all cards from previous sets. They don't count for the collection if you already had these from previous sets, and it even messes up the order if you pull them in this pack.
- But that's not all! There's also "a toofpick changes everything" variants that p much doubles the quantity of repeated cards for a total of 379 cards to collect! 26 of of those are rare full arts which dont forget btw, limited time pack.
- There's like a million rewards and missions to claim now and the game still doesn't have a "claim all" option

When I saw that I had several missions already completed because I already had cards from the previous set, I definitely expected pulls to count for the previous card dexes too. Was disappointed to find they didn't, since my pulls would have completed a couple of emblem missions. Bizarre decision to have it count one way but not the other.

So, one positive before I get into the negative: Parallel Foil 3 Diamond cards don't have a glossy background in the art. (For an example of what I mean, look at Shaymin.) I have no idea why they though making rarer cards glossy instead of reflective was a good idea, but I'm glad there's at least one version of 3 Diamond Cards that don't have that.
I've already had problems finding cards I wanted to add to decks for the Solo Missions and Evolution Chains because of what set they count as being from moving them from where I thought they'd be. The worst part is if you open part of an Evolution Chain, it gets split across different places! Also, the Riolu reprinted is the one that takes 2 Energy to Attack, so the Riolu that only needs 1 Energy is getting separated from Lucario if you open it.
Also, if you've only opened a card in a Deluxe Pack, you can't trade it. (Source: I got my first Magearna card from a Deluxe Pack and I can't offer it in a trade.) You can trade cards if you've opened them in both the Deluxe and Original packs, but I don't know if trading a card you've collected before counts as the Original set or Deluxe yet... I can understand not being able to trade Parallel Foils yet, but why this?
The good news is that counts super rare cards like Full Art and Shines too.
The bad news is there's 379 cards in the set and the odds of any one of the 139 Parallel Foils is 0.359%.
You'll either need months of trading or more than enough money to buy a game that isn't P2W.
Edit: Well... After 32 Packs, I think I've gotten everything I can hope to get from this set. I got the Immersive from my third pack, a Full Art Lusamine, and I just got a Shiny Darkrai EX. I really want Immersive Ho-Oh and Lugia because they're the two I don't have, so I'm only going to open 3 more Deluxe Packs so I have exactly enough for two 2 Diamonds Cards and a 1 Diamond.

One card is always a Normal 1 Diamond card.
One card is a Normal 1 or 2 Diamond Card.
One card can be any Parallel Foil, Star Rarity card, or Shiny EX.
The last card is always an 4 Diamond EX.
How rare a card usually is doesn't affect how rare Parallel Foil version is. The 1, 2, and 3 Diamond ones are all a 0.36%. By the way, there's no Parallel Foil Professor's Research, only the 2 Star one. Side Note: The 2 Star EX Pokemon are all the set mascots.
If you're looking for one card, the odds are surprisingly close between the 1 to 3 Diamond rarity cards if yo don't care about if it's the normal or Parallel Foil version.
The odds of opening a Zubat are about 1 in 45.
The odds of opening a Golbat are about 1 in 50.
The odds of opening a Crobat are about 1 in 60.

it also means, once this set has gone (i prseume they will trot it out every year alongsie a new high end set; maybe for the half anniversary too) that trading anything other than the parallels & art rares won't actually contribute to the set

I thought the name of the pack was kinda weird, but now I'm thinking the "ex" is referring to the A-series's "gimmick" so like the next deluxe pack will be called something like "Deluxe Pack: Mega" or "Deluxe Pack: Mega ex"
