I have several things I was wondering about:

1. Why do the g/s/c batteries run out making it impossible to save your game? Why hasn't this happened with the older r/y/b? Will this eventually happen with fr/lg, ru/sa/em, and/or d/p?

2. Is there any "random battle" on wifi for d/p? I haven't actually battled anyone on wifi yet (only shody). I've been breeding good pokes and trying to learn strategy first. However, I think I am almost ready to go.

3. When is the shinyness of an egg set? Is it before you pick it up or is it while the egg hatches?

thanks :)

1: Because on the old Game Boy games the only way to maintain a clock was an internal battery. Since there's no clock in the RBY games they won't die. Since the new games don't have a clock on the actual cartridge they don't have an internal battery to die.

2: I don't think so.

3: As far as I know, which admittedly is not that definitive, I believe it's the former. But given that the actual rate of shinyness is so low, people haven't really tested it, afaik.

It's actually possible to replace the battery so that the game can be saved again. Check google for guides on how to do this.

I'll probably do that once I get home for the summer...Do you guys happen to know how long a r/b/y battery lasts? I might just replace those for the hell of it too

Unfortunately, no. The best you can do is the 'online' Battle Tower, where you can download others' teams of three Pokemon and fight them as the AI controls them. If you want random battles against real people, you have to have Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii. Even there, random battles are restricted to 3v3 matches (or 4v4 Doubles) and there are no rules. There are no banned Pokemon, no Species Clause, no Sleep Clause, etc. It's an obvious lazy cash-in by Nintendo, but what are you going to do?

Well, seeing as you're going to get passed a Sub, you may want to consider the "All Out Attacker" moveset on the StrategyDex page:

CurseLax may be another choice? I dunno.

QUESTION!!!!

I have just found that I have a HP Fighting 65 Jirachi, but with not amazing IVs (fairly all round though, nothing below 18). The only problem is that I hacked so that it would appear in the wild. Nothing more. I just want to ask, would anybody be willing to trade with me for it? Or would it be looked down upon, because it is caught in Route 210 or whatever? I asked somebody, and they said it would be looked down upon, but i want to ask more people. Answer ASAP.
Yes it would be considered "hacked".

As I said in my earlier post, afaik there is no internal battery for rby, so those games won't ever die the same way as gsc.

All cartridge-based games have a battery that they use to save your game. This battery lasts a long time, but it will eventually die.

EDIT: Nevermind. OmegaX says that GBA, N64, and DS games have flash memory. Check his posts below. Thanks, OmegaX! Now I know! And knowing is half the battle.

Well, the question I was asking was:
Is Jolteon an effective lead?
Quick statistic:
Jolteon is #12 on Shoddy's most commonly used starters list.
I say, sure. It's fast, has an okay movepool, and can lay a good hit on chomp with HP ice.

I refrain from using him imo.
I feel zapdos can preform this role better.

I read somewhere that those batteries lasted like 7 years but I think that the replacements might last a little longer.

You are wrong, RBY and GSC use the same kind of internal battery the only difference is that GSC uses it to power up the internal clock too while RBY uses it only to prevent the save data from being deleted.
Maybe you are confusing it with FR LG for the GBA, those games don't have an internal battery because they have no clock and the save data doesn't need to have a power source like those used for the original gameboy and the SNES.

As mentioned above, only the cartridges used for the Gameboy, Gameboy Color and SNES had an internal battery that was used as a power source for the internal memory that saved your progress.
The cartridges that were used for the N64, GBA and DS have an internal flash memory, that kind of memory doesn't need a power source to keep its data safe and it could be said that it lasts forever. Realistically speaking it really last a fixed number of write operations before it can't be written anymore but good quality flash memories have a limit around one million write operations so it will last for all your lifetime.
The pokemon games for the GBA and DS have an internal battery but it is only used for making the internal clock work so when it finally discharges you can still play the game and save but clock based events won't function anymore. FireRed and LeafGreen don't have a clock so that doesn't apply to them.

My brother bought a used Saphire game and it said "the internal battery has run out, You may still save, However time based things will no longer occur" or something close to that.

Yep that's what happens when the battery dies for the GBA games. I haven't found a guide for replacing the battery for those games unfortunately but not all ruby and sapphire games have died like Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Cristal. Maybe it has something to do with usage but both my Sapphire and a used copy of Ruby I recently bought are still working fine.

I just found my Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disc and I have a Ruby Cartridge. Should I start milking the Jirachis? And should I palpark them right away or only those with good natures, before I check the ivs?

What should I be aiming for nature and iv-wise?

well my battery ran dry in my sapphire game. so i couldnt grow my berries =(. but after a year or so i could replant my berries and they grew =). idk if that helps but yea it worked for me!

I have that too, but I haven't touched it since I learned about nature's/iv's...Back when I got it, I only used it to get a Jirachi and I was content just to have one.lol. Do you need to restart your game in order to get a new jirachi, or can you keep doing it with the same game? I might also join you in milking jirachi's eventually :P

Did you use a bonus disc or attend any events? I know there were many things you could do that would make berries start growing again (although I forget what all the fixes were)

I have a Gliscor on my team as a physical wall, who would complement it better as a special wall; Milotic or Snorlax? I'm thinking sleep talker in both cases.

does Hercross need ot be adamant to OHKO Bulkydos with Facade. According to the Flame Orb SD Set analysis it can OHKO but it didnt work on shoddy when i was jolly.

Wow thanks, I guess I was wrong. I always assumed that the RBY ones had no internal battery. Sorry for jumping the gun with the wrong answer.

Can the Vitamins be used on level 100 Pokemon?

Specifically, if a level 100 Pokemon does not have full EVs, let's say for the sake of example that said level 100 has 0 Defense EVs and... oh, let's say 150 total EVs (far less than 510, but you get the idea), can an Iron be used on it to bump up its Defense EVs?

Yeah I guess, but the only way it could fully be ev'd is if you altered the vitamin evs amount with that ar code. Still I doubt people would want a lvl: 100 pokemon unless it had extraordinary ivs.(my honchkrow for example has gotten some interest but not nearly what it would if its evs were able to be changed. Still though it's a good parent)
