I was going to write a full review for this movie, but I'm at a loss for words. This is nothing short of an absolute masterpiece, and easily the best movie I've seen in a long, long time. Perfect performances all around (although Heath Ledger clearly steals the show), great fight scenes, many plot twists, and edge of your seat excitement from start to finish.

Whether you hate Batman or not, you have to see this film. It's that fucking good.

oh and before anyone asks, the film came out in Australia on the 16th (probably due to Heath Ledger being Australian), while in america it comes out on the 18th (tomorrow)...

you lucky cunts, we get it on the 24th and even so I am doubtful i can make it to the theater that day :(

i am really hyped both for this movie and this review

How did you like Batman Begins though? I wasn't really too amazed by that one, and I want to know how this compares.

Either way, I'm still pumped for this movie at least, it looks way way better.

i'm looking forward to both your review and the actual movie. Begins was pretty good and joker will only make it better. Great villain there and batman was always one of the coolest superheros

It was very good. Saw it on wednesday at IMAX, and it played to a sold out house (of 500)

Heath Ledger's performance was brilliant, with Aaron Eckhart also quite good as Harvey Dent/ TwoFace.

I just got back from the Midnight Premiere, its 3:30 AM here!

I must say this has got to be one of the best movies ever filmed. I was skeptical at first of Ledgers ability to play the villian, but he impressed me. I was just really dissapointed that....It might be a spoiler and i don't wanna say it...but i felt really bad when i got out of the movie.

i absolutely loved this movie. so good. i did the midnight release at a regular theater, and i will be going to an IMAX tonight to see it again.

heath ledger absolutely stole the show. not to say other people didn't act well, but his performance was EPIC. everything i expected and more.

... you were disappointed with one of the best movies ever filmed?

I was dissapointed/sad because they didn't have any "In memory of" or acknowledgement of Heath Ledger ANYWHERE. Me and my friends and a few other people in the theaters waited until the end of the credits, but nothing. It was kinda sad, if i was a family member i'd be pissed off.

EDIT-There was also supposed to be a video memory of him, but i guess thats what i guess for being gullible to a rumor.

kagster there was a in memory of heath ledger and someone else right at the beginning of the the credits...right before the whole character list

There was, it was in the credits, dedicated to him and someone else I forgot.

Conway Wickliffe was the other name. He was a special effects technician on the film who also died before release.

The only thing I was sad about is that they'll never find a good enough replacement for Heath.

Oh i must've missed it, my bad. I got up during the credits to stretch so i guess i didnt see lol. Did anyone else hear about the video rumour though?

Just came back from the Movie and, I really must say it lived up to the expectations. It was a great movie that is for sure, but it was really only after watching this movie that the tragedy of Heath legder dying really came into play for me. At the end of the movie I started talking about how the next one will be even better but then my friends reminded me that Heath was dead. It really makes you think were they will go from here. Really is too bad he died.

So now the question may as well be:

Do they end Joker right there or do they cast someone else to play an inferior version of the joker?

I think they would still try to make hints at his presence.

Great movie. Making pencils disappear takes a newer freakier meaning after watching.

i can't imagine them topping this. the movie was honestly one of the best i have ever seen (and overtakes spiderman as the best comic book movie for me), everything about it was perfect.

the acting was stellar, the action scenes were amazing and the storyline held itself together solidly (although, to be honest, having joker as a central villain does WONDERS for a storyline; he is probably the most perfect villain ever to be constructed). really i don't have anything to say about this movie outside of it being 2.5 hours of awesome.

best scene: pencil scene was awesome, but i'm partial to the hospital scene with dent/joker. i don't think anyone walked out of my theater disappointed with this movie; just amazing.

5 stars easily.

Heath Ledger IS the Joker. Defiantly my #1 on my Top 10 movies for 2008 and easily in the Top 10 movies of all time.

I'm curious if/when they have the next movie who the villain will be...

The Penquin? Probably the one I'd like to see next
Mr.Freeze?
Ivy?
Catwoman?
Bane? Another good villian
