Bored games

Let's say you're sitting at a lecture, bored out of your mind, and you can't fall asleep at the risk of impoliteness etc. There's no paper, no pencil/pen, no electronics, and no friends to keep you company, yet you'd like something to do rather than listen to the lecture. What do you, smogon, do when you're bored in this situation to keep you entertained?

I've got a few examples if that wasn't clear at all:

- people watching. It's fun to just watch people at an uncreepy distance and see what they do or guess what they are thinking. You might even spot a pretty to glance at every now and then :] (or guy, whatever your preference)

- mental math. Keeps you occupied and it never ends since there's an infinite amount of numbers and equations out there. factorials are good as is 1+2+3+4+.....

- my friend taught me this one rhythm with a left tap and a right tap that stretches the mind. it goes LRRL RLLR first, and then you mirror it right after, so LRRL RLLR RLLR LRRL. Then you mirror that pattern, so LRRL RLLR RLLR LRRL LRRL RLLR RLLR LRRL and so on.

got any more for me? I'm sure you've been in these situations before.

I Imagine I'm playing a battle in my head.
It's hard, and quite stupid, but I get a good 10 minutes out of it.

Lol

I generally watch-and-learn.That's it, watching other people, and stuff.Sometimes I stare into anything/anyplace, and start thinking really deeply, but I can't do that on command. The downside is, I will be loss and disconnected from the world, in trace so to say, and probably watching something I SHOULDN'T be watching =/

do what the above poster does or drum out a random beat from a song i like on the table.

sometimes i do this anyway, even if something interesting is going on/i have friends around me. i'm not terrific at concentrating and tend to randomly zone out.

as a drummer, my first insticnt is to tap random beats or rudiments, which annoys the fuck out of too many people for my liking >:(

a drill even better than the one you posted to keep your brain sharp is the paradiddle. LRLL RLRR LRLL RLRR etc etc. Once you can do this without even thinking, as I can, you can start to include both feet! Do R L R L R L R L with your feet while doing the paradiddle with your hands. Then if you are awesome like me and have mastered that you can switch the roles of the hands and feet, which is nigh impossible. If you can do this you are probably a genius bar none.

other things i like to do are people watch, think of new niche pokemon sets/mafia roles or just reminisce about the past :)

Ever since I was a kid I just used to look for triangles. Just any three lines forming a triangle with the negative space and counting how many I could find.

It's not really the most fun game ever, but it's a habit I've always had.

Have a nice day.

It all depends on circumstance. Sometimes my girlfriend or a hot T.A. was around. Well that is problem solved right there.

Other times I'd draw firebreathing dinosaurs or a dinosaur in a space suit.

Other than that, I've noticed alot when I'm bored I actually will starting drifting mentally into something else, then wake up suddenly because the lecture is too boring. So, I made a rule by my last semester: If it's too lame/easy/boring to have to do games in, you're not paying attention anyways. Just sleep in either the class or your bed, depending on if you want the formality of getting up involved.

I usually start singing songs in my head, or start humming randomly. Sometimes I just start to snap my fingers.

haha that's been one of the things i've done when among friends, McGraw!!

also, i just whistle songs, or if the workspace doesn't permit it, tap my fingernails on a table or an equally resounding surface

I also always tap things and make drum beats / recreate existing drum beats, although, I cannot play drums to save my life. I play bass... Go figure.

I do alot of drawing, or song writing. Sometimes i rap in my head. Sometimes I sleep. Idle thought's always nice too.

I get a song I like in my head, and I will tap to the beat with my fingers on the desk or on my leg.

And, back in my early days in college, I would look around the room at all the girls and rate them based on how much I would love to get in bed with them. The ratings were "Stay Away," "Maybe When I'm Drunk," "Not half-bad," "Pretty Hot," and "Get Her ASAP!"

when i get bored, i count things.
like, number of people walking past a window, or tiles on the ceiling or whatever.

also this. it gets fun if you imagine what kind of weapons they could have and base a fight off of that.

I just brainstorm about random stories, which invariably turn out being fucked up. Typed up a pair of them and presented them (not in school, of course. ) for laughs and kicks, others are told in a channel I'm currently banned at for obvious and highly related reasons.

Also reflecting over life (this, here, means "games I played yesterday"), monologuing, sleeping, reading an unrelated book and so on. And I'm fascinated by writing 7 on a paper repeatedly, each following 7 starting from the middle of the previous one.

Theres a game called 'chase the blue circle' where you shut your eyes REALLY tightly and look for the blue circle (it may be purple, indigo or nearly black). then just try and focus on it.

People will think you have a costipation and/or think you are high.
