Okay so I've been away from Pokemon for a while and have not been paying much attention lately. So I was surprised to learn that Deoxys-S has now cemented a spot in OU play. I was also excited to see a surge in the amount of offensive teams. Now looking to get back into play on Shoddy and such I have made a new team (or rather tweaked my old one) to fit the new metagame. Since I started playing pokemon I always loved making teams of six sweepers and playing all-out offense and in D/P that dream is realized with the amount of hard-hitting sweepers that dominate the metagame.
Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 216 HP/16 Atk/92 Def/184 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Stone Edge
-Waterfall
-Dragon Dance
-Taunt
Bulky Gyarados after i got tired of getting outsped by stuff like Gengar and Azelf one to many times after a DD. 184 Speed lets me outspeed the Base 115 speed tier. Taunt almost seems necessary on a lead nowadays considering the amount of Bronzong leads being used. Stone Edge to help out with other Gyarados as they are always a major threat. Waterfall and DD need no explanation. While Gyarados has been able to sweep, I generally don't think of it as a primary sweeper on this team, its mainly used as a lead for intimidate and taunt. I'm considering putting the Attack EVs into defense to make up for the ones I used to boost the speed but I'm still not sure.
Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpAtk/Spd 252
Timid nature (+Spd, SpAtk)
-Focus Blast
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Hypnosis
Standard Gengar. Fills many roles on this team as a revenge killer, special sweeper, and distributor of status. Shadow Ball + Focus Blast for STAB and coverage. Shadow Ball hits stuff like Cresselia and Dusknoir nicely. Thunderbolt for Gyarados and other bulky water types that like to ruin the fun. Hypnosis really helps out in a pinch when there is some wall I can't break (if it doesn't talk in its sleep) and is the only status I have on this team. Focus Blast is meh for me, but I feel like its needed for coverage at least to threaten stuff like TTar,
Blissey, and Weavile.
Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 24 Atk/252 SpAtk/232 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SpDef)
-Close Combat
-Flamethrower
-Grass Knot
-Nasty Plot
Mixape, very useful for taking out big physical walls that I hate. My team is basically physical and so the main attacks that shine here are grass knot and flamethrower. Grass knot to take out those bulky waters along with
Hippo and Flamethrower for the floaty steels. Killing Blissey is always fun as well. STAB CC really makes Infernape one of the best users of NP out there.
Metagross @ Choice Band
Ability: Clear Body
EVs 252 HP/244 Atk/12 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Explosion
-Earthquake
-Meteor Mash
-Bullet Punch
Metagross is extremely helpful on this team. Choice Band Meteor Mash can hurt pretty much anything and if it gets an attack boost it is especially dangerous. Earthquake is there for type coverage. Bullet Punch because priority moves rock and it does away nicely with Weavile and Aerodactyl. Explosion for those things that just won't dye and helps Metagross go out with a bang. I'm not entirely sure about the EV spread as I might want something with more speed, but I'm not exactly sure what would be best. I'm also considering incorporating Pursuit in there somewhere
but not sure what to put it over.
Deoxys-S @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Atk/252 SpAtk/252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SpDef)
-Superpower
-Ice Beam
-Psychic
-Shadow Ball
Okay Deoxys, which seems almost mandatory on any offensive team now considering its revenge killing capabilities. Seriously I wouldn't be surprised if it starts to challenge Chomp on the usage list considering how fast this thing is gaining popularity. Max speed as I want to outspeed everything i can with this thing. Ice Beam for dragons, Shadow Ball for things like Gengar and Azelf. Psychic because Infernape scares me and Superpower to hit Blissey. While it is be a great sweeper, its much more valuable for its revenge killing and sweep-ending potential.
Garchomp @ Yache Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Fire Fang
-Swords Dance
This thing is seriously so good its not even fair (some people really do think its not fair). Yache Berry lets it take a hit and get in a good SD so it can wreak havoc on the opponents team. Originally had Adamant for extra power, but after a while I realized that Chomp needs all the speed it can get so I went for Jolly. This thing hits extremely hard with SD, Outrage, and EQ. Garchomp really rounds the team out nicely as the only electric resist and the Yache Berry makes it so I do not have to fear random HP Ice pokemon after switching in on
an electric attack.
