Atlantimon

Hi, people!

Here is Atlantimon colored. It isn't blue! [Like others Water type: Krabby, Kingler, Psyduck, Politoed, Staryu, Octillery, Pink Shellos, Slowbro, etc]

Any comments?

Here's a fully colored version of my submission, not my final though, still need to fiddle with it some.

It was taken on my webcam, so when I actually scan it it'll looks better.

I'd try it in blue and green instead to make it look more Watery. With the orange and yellow it reminds me of a sun warrior crab.....thing.

I do like the concept of the legs though. The majority of fighting types seem to stand on two legs, this seems to give it a unique look while not decreasing its mobility. (Assuming that its body can turn sorta on a swivel)

Love Artyoki's design. ;D

The fins and stuff on the head look a lot better than the... thing that was there earlier (which I notice makes a reappearance on the other end of the paddle), plus now the shell on the right hand looks a lot more fitting.

The torso looks fine, but I kinda feel that the arms could be a mite bit thicker. They seemed somehow thicker on the original design. Different angle? :S

And ditto with what everybody's saying on the sandals.

I liked its new head (except for the eyes, although the other one's were too Gallade-ish), paddle and shells. On the other turn, His legs and feet are pretty bad, in my opinion. The shoes just doesn't fit the pokémon, and the legs make it look like a pretty fragile and skinny pokémon; I prefer the first's legs.

I just sketched some ideas last night.

Just some basic ideas I was thinking of. I guess everyone thought of a fighting squid, because I drew these last night and then saw a couple others had that idea. I also remembered a type of fish called the fighting fish that puffs up it's cheeks and hits other fish with them. Then there is the platypus guy there, I had that idea for a while and figured it looked like it could be fighting type. The last is just a lobster/shrimp thing.
I like the octopus one the best, but the fists don't seem 'aggressive' enough. Perhaps if some of the fists became legs and it walked on its fists, it may look more fighting IMO. The fish seems like the most unique design, though I would work off only the concept and create a new pokemon.

Also, the pokemon look similar to existing ones (octupus and tentacruel, platypus and golduck, fish and mudkip) but I don't think that would matter.

WOW. That looks fantastic!

The only real complaint I have is the chest. It currently looks kind of... pudgy. If you slap on some biceps, It'll look awesome.

How does Kappamon ver 2.0 legs make the entire Pokemon look fragile? Personally it doesn't have to be stocky bodied nor muscle bound to show great offensive and/or defensive prowess. It's shoulder pads and shield already protrays a slightly defensive aspect while it's lean body mass and weapon shows it a great combatant. I don't see why thicken it's arms or leg would do any good now.

Wow, just popping into CaP for a minute and I see some very awesome art submissions :) I especially love Atyroki's and the new fighting Platypus by Darth Vader. Nice job everyone though!

I wish I was artistic :(

Well, SOMEBODY needs to do a pirate Pokemon. After all, pirates are the first things to come to mind when you think of a warrior of the sea.

A squid's head makes a wonderful base for a pirate's hat, without actually being a hat. With multiple arms, it can pull off Fighting attacks quite easily. Of course, you'll need the trademark cutlass and hook. The front two arms can be used as fist for punching moves.

Blacking out an eye can give it the effect of an eyepatch, although whether it's necessary is the question. A skull shaped design can carry make the pirate hat look more obvious, although it may be too heavy handed.

I think aragornbird's submission deserves more comments. THIS is the submission I'd like to see win most of all discounting my own. It demonstrates everything I like about a well designed Pokemon; a well-honed idea that isn't burdened with a lot of unnecessary details, strong visual puns, and easily recognizable features that help make a design iconic. It's also an interesting adaptation of the 'Fighting' title, taking it beyond just Asian martial arts, or the MMA to a brawling, bully of the sea.

I'd like to see this coloured (my personal favourite being 'one-eye, no-skull').

edit: Hazmat, I like the faceguard-like armor and his pincer bands. The colours I find a little muted, though. I think you can risk making it 'louder' and then tone it back from there if needed.

Hazmat's drawing appeals to the seafood lover inside of me. It's a tasty little critter that will save your ass and that you will eat when its done.

Yeah, you have a point. I think I'm just not liking the legs because of the shoes and then I hate the whole drawing and then I look like a jerk ?_? Probably. I still like the old legs, but I don't think I have *that* much of a problem with these.

But seriously Atyroki, if the eyes are changed and shoes removed and old feet reused, I'll be more than happy. I don't know others, it's just me.

Wow, gee Cartoons, I'm glad you think so. Well, I'll work on a cooler pose and then color it, though I should probably prepare for my drawing and painting finals, so it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

I really think you should change the ore into a huge leek xD. They grow in really watery soil, and we got it as an item. Maybe it'll boost attack O_o.

Noooope >>

Keeping the oar no matter what

@Cadabolg: I don't quite follow :S

Dammit Languaje!
xD

Well. If you look the head of Kappamon, you will see straight lines, angles, etc. Now, the rest of the body have several curve lines [99,99%]. It doesn't have continuity... It isn't its head, artistically.

What do you think about the colors of my submission?

I don't have a problem with the shoes myself, but not completely attached to them so if they go I don't have a problem with that. I mostly made my point because I tend to see people throwing out suggestions like make it said creature thicker/bigger so it can be defensive or make it look slimmer to make it more speedier, some of which are unnecessary. They're more than one way to portray a certain statistic aspect in the world of Pokemon.

BTW I personally enjoy Pokemon whose appearance slightly conflict with their base stats, it implies a certain aspect that make them unique.

[picture go where?]

Not going to bother colouring it until I get some feedback >>
Shoulder pads in that picture are too huge. The smaller ones were better as it didn't restrict it's arm movement as much. The cut off pants were good on him in my opinion. Sure people might say those kind of pant would make it look fragile but I believe those were best suited for him.
