I do NOT want to see either NFC contenders win the Superbowl this year, even though I like them, I will refuse to accept the fact that either of them would win simply because they are not champions and the Lombardi trophy belongs to teams that actually deserved it.
SO that's why I'm leaning on the AFC to win this year.

What I'm trying to say is; Would you rather see a 9-6-1 or 9-7 team win the Superbowl, who barely made the playoffs in the first place, or would you rather see the Steelers to win, who actually had a great season?
Point is, I wont accept either NFC team to win the Superbowl, simply because neither of them are champions.

winning the super bowl is deserving it. this kind of argument seems pointless when we've had two wild card teams win the super bowl twice in the past 3 seasons. if you are in the playoffs, you deserve the chance to win the super bowl. obviously we've had a discussion about whether teams deserve to be in under the current system or wild card teams hosting a game but...still.

the 05 steelers and 07 giants were probably better teams than either the 08 eagles/cards but going on the road to beat one of the two best teams in the conference says something.

You can always find Hines Ward on the field. Just look for his teeth.

Also, though I am a Steelers fan, I'd say that if either the Eagles or Cards won the Super Bowl, they would deserve it. How you did in the regular season means nothing once you're in the playoffs. Everyone is 0-0 then, and the team that wins out wins the Super Bowl.

Also lol @ Lions Chiefs super bowl. I would so watch that!

If the Steelers had such a great season, and another team manages to knock them off, then how are they not deserving of the Lombardi? This, provided, that the Steelers even make the Superbowl.

I think last years Patriots would be glad to tell you that a great regular season has nothing to do with whether or not you are a champion.

I'd rather see the Ravens win. :pimp:

In fact, they're pretty much who I have to root for, since I can't root for the Eagles/Steelers as a Cowboys fan and I don't really want the Cards to win either just because I don't feel they deserve it.

Maybe all your hostility should be directed at the teams that shit the bed against those "undeserving" teams, especially the Panthers, who turned the ball over 6 times in the second most epic chokejob of the weekend AT HOME.

The fact is there were no great teams in the NFL this season, just a lot of good teams that peaked whenever. The Giants could have been a great team if Plax wasn't a fucking retard, but why lament the fact that they aren't going to play for the NFC Championship if it only took one player for their offense to become unhinged?

There's no doubt that if the Cards or Eagles win, they deserve to be there. Sure, the Cards taking games off after they clinched was a little cheap, but hey, it's not their fault their division was horrible and they clinched before people could start believably counting down shopping days to Christmas. And anyone who saw some of those performances by the Eagles, specifically late in the season when Coach Reid finally started running the ball, can't say that they schlepped into the playoffs. Hell, if we take care of business in Cincinnati and are 10-6, how many people are bitching that we were unworthy? No one.

If Arizona was so unworthy to make the playoffs, but a team like Dallas was, maybe Dallas should have beaten the Cards in the regular season. Or maybe the Bucs shouldn't have lost four straight, including one at home to the putrid Raiders. Things like these don't exist in a vacuum, and Herr Goodell has far, far more important things to worry about than making sure those big, bad 9-7 teams stop making runs into the playoffs.

the giants didn't screw up because plax wasn't there. They messed up because they had to put up with a lot of crap and were often disturbed by the press during pratice to ask about plax

If that's truly the case, then they failed as professionals and deserved to lose that game out of principle. When you work for the best company in your industry, the best is expected from you, especially when what is "distracting" you happened weeks ago and you've had time to deal.

But it's not the case. The fact is that the Giants have no other receiver as good as Plax, and in the past, they were able to run rampant on the Eagles because we couldn't put 8-9 men in the box to stop the run to respond to the threat that Plax was. Without his dynamic presence in the lineup, who's the Giants' best receiver? Kevin Boss? Steve "o hai, the wind made me fumble" Smith? Methuselah Toomer? Do any of those names strike fear into your heart if you're an opposing defense?

Without Plax, stopping the Giants' offense is alot easier than it is with him. Yeah, Jacobs and Ward broke off some nice runs, but all in all, they were contained very well and were a batted pass and fat guy INT from only scoring 6 points on offense. Part of that is because our defense is playing lights out, but the other part is we were able to key in on the run game, especially in short yardage situations. It forced Eli Manning to beat us, and as usual, he reverted to his old, lemme throw a bunch of picks self.

The funny thing is, they gave him a 7 year, $110M extension in the face of his worst performance of the year. The Giants organization must either have seen something that I didn't, or they really don't think Plax is going to jail and are intending on bringing him or a receiver of equal caliber into the fold.

Ravens and Cardinals would be a more interesting super bowl in my opinion but it's probably gonna be Pittsburgh winning the Super Bowl again.

Fuck the Steelers. (ilu steeler)

also ravens are pretty banged up on defense, titans were actually doing very well offensively (until the got within spitting distance of the end zone)

imo banged up defense and kind of meh offense > difficulty of beating same team thrice. steelers look pretty good right now...but we'll see what happens. i'm not even going to get to watch it live as i'll be at a brawl tournament so i'm going to ask my dad to record it. i will stay away from anything that will suggest what the outcome was.
