Heh, do you live around where I do too? I don't know if it's the entertainment we see, but prom seems to be such a big deal in the States compared to Canada. For us, it's just one large last social event to dance and talk with our friends/teachers in our last year of high school. I just went with a bunch of friends. Asked the dj to play Numa Numa but they didn't ;_; We got YMCA though XD
Yeah, watching all those US movies overblowing prom's importance always seemed strange to me. Prom itself wasn't that big of a deal; the after-party was more interesting. Nevertheless, even that wasn't some important rite of passage--just a party. And yeah, I do remember catching up with teachers during prom, even dancing with a few. Hehe.
