Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

So the seed for every minute is always the same? I've been going off April 2nd, 2009, 13:37 (heheh) every time. More often than not I get what looks to be a couple of taps out (I'm doing Bronzor which makes it harder to see how close I was). It's probably quite simply that I suck at counting.

In fact, I might as well give up on Bronzor for now and just make a note of that time being good for them. I'll do Yanma, Croagunk, Horsea or Heracross instead- I've been wanting shinies of those for ages. Lapras would be good too. Oh and Qwilfish. So many possibilities...

Open an Excel Spreadsheet and for every tap push the down arrow key. This helps me immensly.

The IVs listed for the AR IV check code are HP/Atk/Def/Speed/SpA/SpD. You were probably entering them in a different order and so RNGReporter had no atches for the incorrect IVs.

Yes you can do that, exactly as you said, IF you are under your target frame. I assume you can do your taps before or after you fly. I usually do them before, I wouldn't know. As long as you change away from the Happiness/Coin Flip App so they aren't affected when you fly.

Hey, I fly all the time with my Coin flipper application out. It's never affected it before.

Okay, now for some actual research on resetting for the IVs of legendaries. This is my capture process:

1) Start the game surfing one on the shore of the cave of Lake Valor (or whatever lake you visit). This is so you do not cross any tiles where a wild Pokemon encounter can occur when moving towards the cave.
2) Sweet Scent for a Pokemon. Catch it and check its IVs.
3) Enter the time\date and IVs\nature into the RNG Reporter. Take note of the offset. (Note: you can actually be completely off with the minute, so long as you get everything else correct.)
4) Find the Pokemon you just caught in the Method J list.
5) Move directly into the cave. Do NOT visit any other tiles on the water.
6) Catch Azelf and find it on the Method J list.

What I'm finding so far is that the frame of the Pokemon I first catch is always 11, and the frame of the Azelf I catch is equal to the offset + 8. Is this consistent with anyone else's results?

You can try this with any of the other pixes, or Heatran. Regigigas I'm not sure about because of the puzzle you have to get across, and I don't know about Shaymin either.

The fact that your first mon is on the 11th frame is interesting. I wonder if thats the same for scenting at all lakes. I think it's going to be pretty important as folks will definitely want to scent something before doing a bunch of work to advance the RNG.

I'll note the offset +8 after a battle, we were not sure if it was 7 or 8 at this point. Will also be coming up with a new list of research tasks hopefully.

>_>

Just hit my target spread... and it isn't shiny. My IDs are correct and everything. Was probably because I screwed up the time I got my initial seed, then starting resetting off the time and date that gave me that seed. Would that change the seed at all?

Sounds like you're really not doing it right at all. Re-read the directions. You find your initial seed every time you reset.

Yep excel is the way to go, however if some one can find an actual counter (you click and it goes up by one) that would be good.

The make these things called pencils.

Heh, thanks. I got the idea that I was messing it up. I'll redo the whole thing now, after grabbing some rare candies and breeders for Yanma and Heracross.

What do you mean by this? I'm going to SR for Azelf soon, and I think either you wrote a typo or I'm not getting it.

I think he means that you are facing the edge of the cave, but still on the water, so you don't move on the water at all when you go onto the land.

You mean if I were to go forward one step I'd step on the piece of land right outside the cave?

Ignore what he is doing. He is catching a pokemon first. Since you just want to SR in front of him, just save in front of Azelf and change to whatever time you need.

Omega, I tried doing something different from what you did a while back. Save in front of Azelf. When I start up the game again, it would be frame one on Method J, but if you leave and come back in, it would be like frame 4 or 5 (Can't remember which one, think its 4). But if you go out the cave, back in, and go back out and in again, it doesn't advance it, only the initial exit and enter of the cave.

I used the IV check code and the stats of the pokemon change to the IV's until placed back in the PC. Is there more than 1 version of the IV check code?

the code i was using placed them in the top of my tm slot.

and maybe i was reading out of order, thanks, i'll check that out now

Well here comes the hard part. Working out reliable ways to advance the RNG to exactly what you want reliably. I do like the idea of immediately seeding because it lets you know if you hit the right delay and time. After that it's just the advancement.

Check the OP soon for new research projects based on a lot of this.

And I should have a new RNG reporter out VERY soon now. Just finished up the last nasty bit of the timefinder. Just pretty much need to go fix up tab orders in a ton of the windows where I broke them and put a package together. Of course people working on exploiting don't always make the best researchers, but this is going to pretty much require it unless you are just going for things like shinys on the first frame. Fun stuff.

There is only one seed. If it shows more than one (which does happen sometimes) then one will be wrong and you get to guess.

From the OP:

If you do not see any natures that you are interested in or there are too many taps required to reach them please reset and go back through the previous steps.

Just managed to get my first shiny.^_^

A bashful Omanyte, which I didn't really plan on, but he's beautiful nontheless. Swift swim and a couple of 31s, plus bashful is useable on a mixed, rain dance Omastar. Pretty much the only thing I'd ever use with a neutral nature other than a Claydol I have which is mixed and built to have speed BP'd to it.

I just saw the 38-tap shiny and thought I'd have to take it up.=D
I have to say, mingot, you rock for making RNG reporter. Without reporter, none of this entire thread would've been possible.
