Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

hey can somebody give me my secret id by using pokesav for me because my comp wont work with sav i need it also for the rng but do i need a shiny for the pokesav technique to work? or will any old pokemon do?

also how do i post my own avatar onto my account?

Urgh. I keep coming one frame off. I guess I just can't count- it's only 289 taps and a flip for my careful Bronzor shiny (it's for my VGC team and is built to stand up against repeated surfs and blizzards from probable enemies).

This is a lot harder than Emerald sweetscenting. And even from that, I've only managed to get 15 useless bold Zubats when I've been trying to get a Spheal. Just rotten luck, probably.

Oh and sorry about asking if this worked on D/P- I'd skimread the whole topic before the first post had been edited, which was why I'd only read the first 60 pages. I feel like a bit of a plonker now.

mingot, I think we should split up the PRNG Research thread into a thread for actual research topics (for posts like these) and a thread for help on how to abuse the PRNG. Probably something with the instructions but not the detailed science so as to not confuse people more than they need to.

Since you're a badgeholder now, you can lock this thread yourself and start those other ones, but you'd need a mod to sticky them.

Wifi is pretty sticky heavy, so I'd definitely want to ask before doing that. I really wanted to get just a bit more information filled in and then take the technical part to C&C, so maybe I will try to push that up a bit. I think think it's a little rough to go there, though. What do you think?

triple post

ok, so i tried this the first time and no luck. i used ad AR code for my SID so i am pretty sure that's right. i based Evs off a lvl 100 (rare candied). I tallied every 10 taps so i didn't lose count.next trial i am going to check evs with the AR too.

the only thing i didn't follow exactly with (belatedly realized) is that the parents were in my party.

the eevee did come out correct nature. coincidence?

nvm... i entered my actual id wrong... xx605 not xx065...

what iv code are those that are ARing it using? the ivs mine keeps generating do not correlate to anything the program can find

ps sorry for the n00bish 3 posts in a row neediness

Nope. I clicked Dppt EGG PID. If it helps at all, the only thing that popped up when i entered the IVs and nature was only 1 "Initial" option.
also= excel spreadsheet? how does that work when counting happiness taps?

Lol, ok when you type in IVs, you generally get only one, i rarely get more than 1, and the Dppt Egg PID is not where you select shiny. Dppt Egg PID is from the drop down list on the top left, and the shiny selection is a box which you can tick, its under the ID and SID.

And congrats on a triple post NAG.

EDIT: Ughh, not again, guy above me, while it does have to do with the PRNG, thats for the DMP thread, also i would use it as a parent (unless you have better), bcuz 30 attack is useless for calm, and would be using SpA attacks anyway, and HP and Def is too low.

Where should you position yourself next to the old man to stabilize offsets? I'm guessing to the north..? Just curious on how other people do it..

Oookay, need some advice here. Just finished a Happiness Check/Coinflip, for a Jolly Nature. What should I breed, Chimchar or Pikachu?

Sorry about that, I never know which questions should go where sometimes. Usually when I have a RNG question they tell me to go here.

Okay, now for some actual research on resetting for the IVs of legendaries. This is my capture process:

1) Start the game surfing one on the shore of the cave of Lake Valor (or whatever lake you visit). This is so you do not cross any tiles where a wild Pokemon encounter can occur when moving towards the cave.
2) Sweet Scent for a Pokemon. Catch it and check its IVs.
3) Enter the time\date and IVs\nature into the RNG Reporter. Take note of the offset. (Note: you can actually be completely off with the minute, so long as you get everything else correct.)
4) Find the Pokemon you just caught in the Method J list.
5) Move directly into the cave. Do NOT visit any other tiles on the water.
6) Catch Azelf and find it on the Method J list.

What I'm finding so far is that the frame of the Pokemon I first catch is always 11, and the frame of the Azelf I catch is equal to the offset + 8. Is this consistent with anyone else's results?

You can try this with any of the other pixes, or Heatran. Regigigas I'm not sure about because of the puzzle you have to get across, and I don't know about Shaymin either.

I was wondering, is it possible if you mess up the taps to save generate an egg and just keep repeating until you get a shiny without turning the game off since it only increases by 1. This would only work if you were under the correct amount of taps though. if you are flying do you do the taps before or after you fly?

Quick question, after I've completed my taps and the Daycare man has the egg, can I save in front of him BEFORE getting the egg, to Soft Reset for IV's, and the shininess still be there also? Does Saving advance the RNG, or change the PID of the egg?

Save and reset for IVs, it will still be shiny. IVs get generated when you pick up the egg, shininess is generated when the egg is created.

The IVs listed for the AR IV check code are HP/Atk/Def/Speed/SpA/SpD. You were probably entering them in a different order and so RNGReporter had no atches for the incorrect IVs.

Yes you can do that, exactly as you said, IF you are under your target frame. I assume you can do your taps before or after you fly. I usually do them before, I wouldn't know. As long as you change away from the Happiness/Coin Flip App so they aren't affected when you fly.

I used the IV check code and the stats of the pokemon change to the IV's until placed back in the PC. Is there more than 1 version of the IV check code?

I don't have a naturally caught Shiny or my AR right now but I want to find my SID so I can hatch a shiny Gastly.
Problem is the "Simple Questions" thread that I was directed to to ask about my SID is gone -- so hopefully someone here can help me.
So...how do I find my SID? >__>

You need AR, or pokesav, i dont have so dont ask me >.<

Darn. I hope I don't have to wait until monday to get my AR and hatch shinies. But then again I'm still only on badge 4 on Platinum (decided to restart out of boredom -__-) so I have something to work on till then.

>_>

Just hit my target spread... and it isn't shiny. My IDs are correct and everything. Was probably because I screwed up the time I got my initial seed, then starting resetting off the time and date that gave me that seed. Would that change the seed at all?

Depends how far off you were. A few minutes won't make a difference. Not sue exactly how far ou can be off for it not to make a difference.

As I have said to other people:
The best thing to do when you hatch a non-shiny is to check the nature, ability and gender. If it has the same nature ability and gender as the shiny pokemon should have then your SID is wrong.

If these details are completely different then try to find you position on the list. I would suggest you uncheck shiny only, re-click generate, right click on the list and do output ot CSV. You can then open that file and do Ctrl+F for the nature of your hatched pokemon. Then hatch another 1 or 2 eggs and look on the list for those pokemon's nature in that order. If you find them there, then that means you've made a mistake with your taps/flips.
