Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Where you stand in relation to the old man does not matter. The NPCs still move, even when off screen which means they still trigger RNG calls.

Oh I see.. so does that mean other NPC's in other areas (in all of Sinnoh) affect the offset? Or just that particular area (in this case, Solaceon town)?

The NPC's in Stark Mountain don't move, do they? If they do, that would explain why I'm always 10-30 frames off my target.

Anyway, I'm finding that for Heatran, the frame of the first Pokemon I catch is usually 4 (sometimes 5), but the Heatran I catch immediately after (with no RNG advancing) is equal to the offset + 14.

I do believe scenting in a cave takes an extra RNG call, but it doesn't seem to explain offset+14 as opposed to offset+8. For Heatran though, refresh me, is he in a quiet cave? IE. do you have to be outside of his chamber to scent and then walk in?

And have you went directly to Heatran and captured him, and if so what offset?

Hi.
I'm new to this. And have a few questions. If i sync my clock on my computer to "7:30" and do the same for my DS. Would that be consider syncing? So then i would put 17 in hour and then 30 in minutes? Am i doing that right or wrong?

Also does anyone know a place for 55+ I always get like random numbers between 2-3 15-16 on metalkids IV calculator and i have no rare candies what so ever.

Thanks in advance.

Military time (0-23 hour clocks) means you add 12 hours if it's past noon. i.e., it's 7 PM, so 7 PM + 12 hours = 19 hours. That's what you put in for hours.

The OP lists a good place that only requires a bit of leveling to determine specific IVs

So far, I've gathered that being in Heatran's room does nothing to effect the RNG. Additionally, walking through Heatran's door while you're already facing up consumes no seeds. What I'm going to try to do is sit outside Heatran's door facing up, scent a pokemon, use it to verify my seed, and then immediately go catch it. If it doesn't consume any seeds in between (like it should), then you have a reliable way to see if you hit your time/delay without having to go through your journal presses every time.

Bringing up the journal in-game works exactly the same way as if it pops up normally, so you can still achieve your offset even after you catch a pokemon.

Ok, it is the process of scenting and catching a pokemon itself that fucks the offset up, as I just sat in Stark Mountain outside Heatran's room for ~20 secs before entering, and still got offset 1. So the NPCs do not affect it.

Ok.. i am in the process of trying to find my SID and i just have one question

The binary code for the 2 halves of the PID and the trainer number look like this

0111101011010 111
0000111101000 101
0101110001100 111

My only question is, if there are 3 0's in a row, do i put 0 or 1 for the 4th number?

EDIT: nvm im stupid, 0 is an even number so i got my answer

Yes, there are no random encounters inside Heatran's Cave.

I just went through 1436 double taps for a Rash natured shiny Nidoran-M. For gender 50%/12.5%/25% it says it's Male, 75% says it's Female. I hatch it, it was Rash and shiny, but it was Nidoran-F.. So I'm assuming for Nidorans, those M/F percentages don't matter, it's random?

Nidoran-F and Nidoran-M are two different species, so Nidoran F is always female, and et cetera.

shinyrattata : yes, they have to be exact. If you put in the wrong IV's, it'll probably say "check your date/time"

Wait.. so what should I look for to breed a Rash Nidoran-M? My parents were a Smeargle + Nidoran-F

IIRC you'd have to use a Nidoran-M/Nidoking + a Ditto to get another Nidoran-M. :\

Oh okay.. darn >_< time to breed a male one then.. I got a question. On the Time Finder, when it says A and/or B, I've always put male pokemons into Day-Care first, female second. I'm assuming that the first pokemon put in the Day-Care is A, and the second pokemon is B. The gender doesn't matter, right? So I found a good spread for a Rash Nidoking,
31/B/30/B/A/31. If I get a Ditto with a x/x/x/x/31/x + x/31/x/30/x/x Nidoran-M, I would get 31/31/30/30/31/31?

No, this isn't the case. Otherwise, how else would you be able to breed Nidoran-M with Nidoran-M egg moves, like Amnesia?

Clearly, Nidoran gender is determined by something other than the PID, and so RNG Reporter doesn't cover it. This probably applies to Volbeat\Illumise as well. I don't think Nidoran gender is something that has been researched, though. I guess nobody really cares enough.

Just keep trying until you get a Nidoran-M egg.

It's most likely something in the PID that determines it, just not the same thing that determines gender. It can't be Odd/Even as if that were the case then Volbeat/Illumise would not be able to have different abilities. Now I am curious about this. Surprised X-Act didn't cover with Spinda Spots, Wurmple, and Unown.

Does going on Wifi to do a trade affect the RNG? I'd assume so but I'm not sure, I got a nice spread and then realized one of the parents I want is on someone else's game :\

Is it possible that at a certain save point a spread is not possible? I've been taking note of my delays and offsets the past few times I've reset and every time I hit my delay (605) I miss my offset, but every other delay I get gives me the desired offset (5):

611 5
599 5
605 4
613 5
595 5
603 5
597 5
605 4
597 5
609 5
605 4
599 5
601 5
605 4

This is pretty frustrating. Any advice? Should I just try resaving again?
