I say we name it REZAL for two reasons:

1. it is LAZER spelled backwards and therefor goes along with my idea that more electric pokemon should be backwards real things like ROTOM is

2. It is 1 letter change away from REGAL like is what a king is often thought of being like kings and dragons always seem to go together so :D

The word is spelled "laser," not "lazer." It is an acronym that stands for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation." So, it would be Resal, which looks better than Rezal anyway. (I still wouldn't vote for it over Teslacoatl, though.)

These suggestions are in general featuring too much weeaboo. Kitsunoh won because it was actually clever and the pun didn't work in English. These are just pointless...

I am sorry about spelling I think I have been speaking L33T for too long its been messing with my spelling.

A few days ago I said WTF while talking to someone. There is something seriously wrong with me. T.T

But what ever sounds better to you people RESAL or REZAL doesnt really matter to me. you can choose which ever if you want.

Most of the name suggestions I seen so far have more to do with Greek/Latin/Norse myth. The "weeabooness" as you put it might be a generally belief that anything foreign sounding equal Japanese in origin since Japanese is more well known on the Internet.

BTW, how would say Resel? Weasel without the "w"?

Beamgon! I must say it actually was the first thing that came to my mind but lets face it...it sounds funny! ^^ Plus, it sort of makes sense with the CAP 8 idea. Beam as in a beam of light somewhat realted to electricity and the ending "Gon" because its a Dragon just like...Bagon lol. Anyways, hope this helps I am not the best at coming up with names, but I just wanted to help the CAP project, good luck!

My name submission will be Lampagon (Relampago-dragon)

Sorry for posting multiple names , just ignore the previous posts, this is my final submission

I'm talking explicitly about the needlessly Japanese stuff, though. Most of it is not coming from there, but there is definitely a lot of it.Though really, the puns should ideally be coming from English anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jabberwatt seems like a better way of putting the name. Actually, if not for the 10-letter limit, Jabberwatty would probably be best. But the way it is now, it makes me think of Jabba the Hutt.

In my head originally I had it as Jabberwatt, but Jabbawatt just seemed to roll off the tongue better.

This one will be my final submission.

Cerebolt

Cere- comes from the name Cerebus, the three-headed dog that guards the Underworld.
bolt- (Does this really have to be explained?) A lightning bolt -.-

This one will be my final submission. This one is all based off of the dragon element, and is pretty lame actually -.-

Smaugon

Smaug- a dragon from J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit" who guards a precious hoard of treasure (going along with the defensive theme).
gon- Your generic ending of dragon.

Lol-Smaugon sounds like Smogon...

Quite fitting I'd say

Seconding whoever said that we should leave the Japanese out of this one. Anything with "rai" or "ryu" in it won't be getting my vote.

Tesladon, Teslacoatl and Ohmega stand out to me so far.

If we go with Cartoons! design, I suggest Shox.

Because, you know, it's rather Ox-ish, even though it was intended to be a dragon. Then again, why does Salamence have a play on Salamander in his name? Because he resembles a Salamander somewhat. Thus, I thought it was fitting.

Otherwise, I don't have any other suggestions.

Puns are ok in the name as long as it isn't overly obvious. And, obviously, a lot of these are.

Uhhhh, most of these names are portamanteau's (a combination of two words), not pun's, and nearly all pokemon names are portamanteau =/

Skarmory = Sky Armory
Salamence = Salamander Menace
Feraligatr = Feral Aligator

Notice that these are also pretty obvious >>

Well since Temper and Drakepi are not popular(no real surprise) let us try something else based on Tempest.

Temperil, an obvious mixture of Tempest and Peril. Tempest links it to electricity(though only slightly) and Peril is representative of the danger of going against a dragon.
