Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I made a copy of my save before catching any legend (except Giratina and the pixies). Once I've caught all the shiny legends, I'll catch them all flawless ^^

I want the 3 other Regi's aswell, but I don't have a TRU gigas x.x
i have one in my thread you can have. i'd like to see what regis can be caught in Pl :)

also, is there a guide for catching the legends? i did read but didn't seem to find it.
also i'm wondering how i look up my shiny spreads.

It does not skew your offset really, because you take the egg before you even walk.

Right, but if you were to walk around, would it advance the offset. For example, could you leave this code on and walk around at 2 RNG calls per step instead of flipping journal pages/tapping.

Yea, sorry for not answering the question. It shouldn't advance.

1. The steps counter only goes up by 1.
2. I did some tests earlier with the same code on and it was not affected by having the code on.

Someone from Serebii traded me one, thanks though ^^

As for a guide, I made this, it's not a complete guide, but just the base steps.

EDIT: In that post, I only mentioned method 1, the same goes for J.

I've been taking an almost month long break from trying to get good IVs for my Skorupi. I guess I'll have to try again. I was hoping for a breakthrough in removing more of the luck, but it's clear it's not going to happen.

EDIT: Oh yeah, mingot, I've been meaning to ask you. 99% of users can run RNG Reporter, but the 1% on Macs obviously can't. Is there something in .NET that you absolutely need, or could RNG Reporter be ported to Java and run on everything?

I'm sorry if I've missed it somewhere, but when SR'ing for legends, how do we advance the RNG? Is it Journal flips or something? If so, is there an area in the RNGReporter that tells us how many? I'm saved in front of Uxie's cave ready to sweet scent, but I'm unsure how to advance the RNG.

Wait, changing your ID/SID is legal?
That would be amazing.
Anyways, I really need to get my BP done so I can start SRing Legends.

I don't care for Java. Do you happen to program? If so and you have something you can show me so I know I won't be wasting my time I'd be happy to guide you towards creating a Java version.

It'd really also be nice if a somewhat technical person who owned a Mac (they must exist, someone out there is writing all of that cool mac software) could give an earnest try to getting it to run either under native mono or even windows mono under wine it would be appreciated. It would likely require communicating directly with the Mono folks once the problem stopping it from running is identified, though.

There are lists of things that advance the RNG in the OP. I'd check there. I don't think you are going to want to scent outside of the cave.

Ok, I'll check thanks. I was under the assumption people scented outside the caves, or was this just to find the offset? Considering from what I've read they are constant, so I suppose it shouldn't matter. But is there a place in the Reporter that I can see how many times I need to advance the RNG?

Actually, I highly recommend scenting outside the cave. When you Sweet Scent starting from a particular save point, the Scented Pokemon almost always shows up on the same frame. So if you make a list of some of the frame X Pokemon that show up at nearby delay\seconds, you can just take one look at a Pokemon's nature and characteristic and say "Oh, I hit 601 delay and 25 seconds again" without ever having to bust out the Rare Candies to check.

It would be nice if the next version of RNG Reporter had a feature that automatically listed these adjacent spreads for a particular frame.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't recommend scenting outside the cave as a means of advancing the RNG, though. That'd just take forever.

1) Find the offset of the Pokemon you Scented and caught. Make sure it's for the correct seed.
2) Find your target frame.
3) Number of times RNG needs to be advanced: target frame - (offset + 8)
4) If the number is odd, then walk 128 steps to advance the RNG by 1. Subtract 1 from the number of RNG advances. (Note: these 128 steps have to be made in an area where no wild Pokemon randomly appear, like the inside of the Lake caves)
5) Divide that result by two to calculate the number of journal flips you'll have to make.

Oh, I just dabble in Java in my spare time slowly teaching myself. I wouldn't be able to implement all the complex math, I was just curious. It's not a large concern at any rate, as most Mac users probably run a copy of Windows in some form or another.

I understand that changing around the year will change your Delays (Time Finder). Is there any way to change the offsets?

Oh I see.. one more question. What are the offset range when you take the egg from the old man (mashing A button repeatedly from start, pressing A on Continue screen, then getting the egg)? I've seen from 3~9, but could there be any lower/higher offsets?

For the whole calibration thing, do the seconds of the DS have to match EXACTLY the seconds of an external watch? I.e. a PC clock or a VCR clock or a TV clock, etc.

If I get a spread of say, 96 Happiness Taps, and 0 Coin Flips, do I need to switch out of the Happiness Checker app to get the desired spread?
