There are lists of things that advance the RNG in the OP. I'd check there. I don't think you are going to want to scent outside of the cave.
Actually, I highly recommend scenting outside the cave. When you Sweet Scent starting from a particular save point, the Scented Pokemon almost always shows up on the same frame. So if you make a list of some of the frame X Pokemon that show up at nearby delay\seconds, you can just take one look at a Pokemon's nature and characteristic and say "Oh, I hit 601 delay and 25 seconds again" without ever having to bust out the Rare Candies to check.
It would be nice if the next version of RNG Reporter had a feature that automatically listed these adjacent spreads for a particular frame.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't recommend scenting outside the cave as a means of advancing the RNG, though. That'd just take forever.
Ok, I'll check thanks. I was under the assumption people scented outside the caves, or was this just to find the offset? Considering from what I've read they are constant, so I suppose it shouldn't matter. But is there a place in the Reporter that I can see how many times I need to advance the RNG?
1) Find the offset of the Pokemon you Scented and caught. Make sure it's for the correct seed.
2) Find your target frame.
3) Number of times RNG needs to be advanced: target frame - (offset + 8)
4) If the number is odd, then walk 128 steps to advance the RNG by 1. Subtract 1 from the number of RNG advances. (Note: these 128 steps have to be made in an area where no wild Pokemon randomly appear, like the inside of the Lake caves)
5) Divide that result by two to calculate the number of journal flips you'll have to make.
