is there any way to actively try for this spread, or would i calibrate as per the IV breeding process and my optional shinies would change each time (given the calibration differences, etc.)?
You need an initial seed. By default it generates for zero, which is actually impossible to get in DPPt. So you want to use the Time Finder to locate an initial seed for your shinys and then work from there.
