Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Ehm, something is wrong with the initial seed checker.

I've entered the stats, nature, charactaristic, etc. and I'm sure they're good. But I keep getting an error.

Still using 5.00 though, don't know if it's fixed in 5.10.

5.10 gives the same error.

Check the show monster box and see if that helps. I know there was a problem with that, but if that doesn't help I'm not sure what's wrong.

@ Pokerealm - Hrm, not sure about that even/odd delay thing, to be honest. I will need to check into it. It seems very strange that delay would have any effect there, when it really does not anywhere else. Will check to see if the initial seed being even or odd always makes the next rng result even or odd, but I don't think so.

@ Awful avatar guy - Sorry, I can't really help you if you don't give more information other than "it doesn't work".

Well, me and Vile tested this 30 times for sure.
All of the offsets were right.
I never got a frame of 9, only when I got:

Delay 603
Roaming: 3
Fished: 3x (2 not even a nibble).

4 + 3 + 2 = 9

I never got 9 before that one, and I knew it would be 9 before even checking.

It's true, I know it's hard to believe me after all things that happened. But it works, just try.

edit: @Haile Selassie; you have the wrong nature. Ar you trying to abuse the Wonder Card IVs? Because I got that same error when I entered the IVs from a Wonder Card Pokémon

It says:
No reasonable initial seeds found. Please check DATE and TIME.

But I'm sure they're correct.

Well, then what are the stats/nature/characteristic and date/time you are entering?

Ok, just that it seems to work out if you count "Not even a nibble" as 2 per. Like I said, it's just very strange for the delay to have any bearing it, unless it's an artifact of the math that advances the RNG. It's strange enough that I am going to have to look into it myself.

Yes, I will be trying, as you say.

It was not the only time "Not even a nibble" advanced it.
When fishing more than 30 times, you get that message a lot.

I'll be looking forward to your test results, I'm sure you'll see I'm right..

Ugh, iirc it was:

Machoke
48
Bold
Strongly defiant
141 / 93 / 92 / 61 / 75 / 53
16:10
29/05/2009

I'm not 100% sure about the speed, but this is what my memory tells me.

I reset it again and then I got the different spreads on the same coin flips >.>

I hope so, it'll be nice to have one of the last wild Pokemon capture methods worked out and documented.

Hrm, are you ABSOLUTELY sure that the hour is correct? Switch to the poketch clock application and verify, please. Hour is the most common reason for what you are seeing and I do find a reasonable seed when the hour is 2300 and not 1600.

I also see one slightly less good looking at 1500.

Ok, I just got 4x frame 7 in a row:

Odd delays + 3 roaming pokemon, all hooked on the first try.

Now I got 9:

Odd delay, 3 roaming, 2x not even a nibble = 9

Yes 100% sure that it was 16:10. Double checked it.

Oh well. Not sure, then. Only things I can really think of is that you waited too long getting into the game (to high a delay) or waited too long to catch the Pokemon. So does it NEVER work for you, or did it not work that time? Either way, next time try to get me the exact stats and I can have a look.

5. Hatch this egg and make sure that it has the correct Nature, Ability, and Gender. If it does not then reset your game without saving and go back to step 3.

6. As the hatched Pokémon does have the desired nature you should turn off your DS without saving.

7. Turn on your DS and set the Date to at least 2 (verify) days after your current date. This will ensure that the Journal comes up.
Something doesn't seem right about step 6 here, because a later step says to immediately collect the egg.
Is it supposed to say:
-If the hatched Pokémon does not have the desired nature you should turn off your DS without saving.
or
- As the hatched Pokémon does have the desired nature you should save and turn off.
?

Mingot, that should not have been changed, as it was right the way it was. If you save after checking the nature and gender, you cannot abuse for IVs, and that's what this instructions are trying to teach.

As this is the calibration phase, you are not supposed to save after you get the egg anyway, unless those are the IVs that you want. So, if you save after getting the egg, it's all wasted.

Blegh, sorry about that. I was wondering why no one would have pointed it out before me.
The steps are clear enough, I'm just a bit absent-minded this morning I suppose :/

I just had that the RNG reporter said that my pokemon had invalid stats, while I quadruple checked them. it was in the find initial seed by stats part.

I've had similar results with a Roselia - it listed ALL of its stats as invalid. Next time this happens I'll better document it.

The next time this happens to either of you please keep the Pokemon. Nickname it mingot, if possible so you don't lose it, and get it to me if you have wifi.

With close to 500 Pokemon, the effect of natures and characteristics all having to be entered I would not be surprised if there is not a mistake or two in the IV checker.

Okay, I'm trying to understand a couple of things about frame calibration for hatching perfect IV Pokemon.

So, my first question is, can I just use any parents and just get a random egg and check its IVs? Or it there something specific to each set of parents. (just so I can get my frame)

If I can use random parents (like said above), do I need to do the journal part?

And finally, is the frame based on time (like Emerald) or events?

EDIT: And also, can I adjust my frame through any methods?

1. Yes, you can use whichever parents you like.
2. No.
3. The frame for eggs is advanced by NPC movements.
4. Yes, using Journal flips.

Basically, when doing the calibration phase, you just want to save before getting the egg, reset, take the egg and catch a pokemon to check the frame of the baby.

So, the frame of the baby is based on NPC movements during the time I take the egg?
And also, when I use the time finder, does that mean using journal flips I can also look at frames that are higher than the one I found during callibration?

Only when they move between the time the game is loaded and when taking the egg. As soon as you talk to the daycare man, the frame is set.

And yes, you can use journal flips.
However, everytime you save, the frame will be different.
