Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I've been rng-abusing for awhile to breed flawless shinies. So far, all my delays have been even. But for some reason, they're all odd now... can anyone tell me what happened? If it helps, I don't have any GBA inserted. I could change the year to get the same spread, but it kinda bothers me, :(

I have recently had someone check my friend's SIDs, but they came up as a 4 digit numbers. I know they are supposed to be 5. Can someone help?

Whenever I open RNG Reporter I get this message:

"Microsoft .NET Framework

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Configuration system failed to initialize."
You have to download the .NET fix, located on the same page as teh RNGReporter

I have a question about Wichu's App. I was using it earlier and the documents that list the spreads were on the desktop, but now on this computer they arent showing up, what might i be doing wrong?

Are you all using your PC clocks to keep track of your DS's time? It seems like that might be a bit difficult since there is a slight lag between the time you enter in the new time and when it actually takes effect... I was wondering if there were any recommended downloadable clock programs.

There is a slight lag before it starts counting the seconds on the pc. There is the same lag on the ds, so they are the same for timing.

Ok Just out of curiosity what is the approximate time length of abusing RNG to get a pure breed[flawless] pokemon, and catching one? [Time Lengths for both if that didn't make sense].

Like in total (learning how to do it, getting used to it, resetting for whatever, etc.)? Or how long after you learn it?

If you're asking for the total, it'll depend on your ability to learn new things. Otherwise it's relatively fast.

Well i haven't particularly learned yet, but will immediately learn when summer starts [in 3 days].

But yes time lengths for both and i can learn relatively fast. :)

I don't know if it matters to anyone or if anyone's done it before, but today I tried for PBR WonderCard IV abuse for the first time and I'm pretty sure the Hardy, surfing PKTOPIA Pikachu is on frame 1, according to my journal flips.

Too bad I went for a spread with such low attack, Volt Tackle's going to be useless...but the spread was on frame 9, couldn't give that up *A*; (31/1/31/31/31/31 ftw~)

First time doing IV abuse for something other than eggs, so I was really happy it worked! Just wondering, though - is it impossible to tell what the delay is when IV abusing with WonderCards? I can flip to the coin flip app, of course, but I'm not sure where I can generate adjacent spreads from, to compare the initial seed's delay with D:

Do I just go outside after I grab the Pokemon and catch a wild magikarp? I was incredibly lucky that I must have hit delay 593 on my third try, but I honestly had no idea what my delay was and I didn't know where to generate spreads from for comparison. :<

Syberia discovered wondercards were on frame 1 but the NPCS in the store advance it. The natures are random so if you're trying to find the delay you got, just start going through the list of natures till a seed and delay pops up.

The Pikachu's nature was set as Hardy, though, so it was impossible for me to compare what I got to the results from the list I generated. I actually went and found a seed (ea110258) and plugged it into the Seed to Time function to find my dates, and just picked one and tried from there. The nature for that seed was supposed to be Careful, but my Pikachu was always Hardy @_@

I assume I'll have the same problem with the Adamant(?) Magmortar, heh.

-edit-

Then again, I don't actually need to know the delay if my frame and seconds are always constant, so...I guess it doesn't matter. @_@
Thanks anyway~

@ MrSableye - Sounds like it can't find your config file. Did you move files around or delete that?

@ Seph - Some Wondercards have fixed natures (that Pikachu, Dragonaire, WCS Milotic). These are the easiest to reset because as long as you hit the correct time/delay/frame you get your goal. For things like Deoxys/Darkrai you'll get a random nature you may find it taking hitting the correct time/delay/frame 20+ times.

Ah, alright. So there's no way to compare what I get each time with any adjacent spreads D:< Baww.

Thanks for the help *_* I'll go try to nab a HP Grass 70 Magmortar then, heh.
That TRU Shaymin I got from Toys R Us will have to sit and wait a while longer till I feel less lazy. >_>

-edit- A repetitive question, but is there a better way for me to hit a delay higher than my usual one, besides setting my years forward? *A* 2069 looks unappetizing.

Just wanted to restate this >_>

Hmm...taking both methods into consideration:

My normal delay is usually 600. This is determined by the time between the moment I soft reset and the moment I hit continue, according to the OP. `-`

My seconds are usually 14, so when I divide those two, I get about 42.857 per second. If I need a delay of 658, I'd divide 658 by 42.857 and get something around 15.353 seconds, which theoretically means I should wait that long before hitting the continue button from the soft reset, and should adjust my DS time and timer accordingly so I can hit the continue button at ~15.353 seconds while hitting the needed time for the spread as well. D:

So hypothetically, if my target was 15:10:14, I'd set the first phase of emloop's timer for ~(60 - 1.353 = 58.647) seconds and set my DS clock to a minute before the target time - but instead of reseting at the exact new minute, I would be reseting 1.353 seconds before the new minute, which would mean I'd be able to wait the extra 1.353 seconds and still hit my 15:10:14 time if my sense of timing were to be...impeccable. * u * (Staring at emloop's timer, of course. I've never used it before, but I think I get how it works...`-`;)

But then, why are the units of delay considered to be 1/60 seconds? That's just an approximation, right? D:

Sorry for such a long winded question. >_>
Thanks again for your amazing work, and of course the amazing work from the other contributors *A*;

Well, some of that time is how long it takes to load the game, before it starts counting any frames. So it probably is 60 fps, with the difference being accounted for by load time.

All the DS emulators run at 60 fps, so it seems logical. I don't think anyone has torn apart the coding to check, though.

The term 'frames' as used in "fps" are different from the frames post-continue screen that are influenced by NPCs, right? terminologyaiyeee;

Ah yeah, that makes sense. I just counted about 3-4 seconds worth of white screen before the credits/licensing started to show, which would leave around ten seconds till my continue screen. (600/10=60) I'll try to poke around with my delay calculations more tomorrow then. Thanks `-`

"Frames" is a misrepresentation, the correct term should be "offset." Frames is only correct if you're playing Emerald.

Flip the coin 10 times, noting the results. Then, using RNG Reporter, select "DPP Egg PID (Normal)" and click "Generate" after entering the initial seed you are targeting. Match the results of the flips with the information in the "Coin" column of the output.
...Am I blind? I can't find the coin flip list anywhere. The only place I see one is in the Egg Time Finder, but I am currently trying to capture a Legendary. I put it on Egg PID and entered the seed, but the coin column just says "heads" or "tails" ...what does that mean? [/stupid]

Edit: Eh...well I found the coin flips using a highly roundabout manner of entering a random frame into the egg time finder, using no IV restrictions, entering the sole delay value of the seed I want (or at least, what it is in 2009) and generating a ton of seeds and searching for the correct one. It has a list of the coin flips for that delay next to it. But this is still obviously not the right method...

Get your target seed and generate a list with the "DPPt Egg PID" option. Next to Ability is coin. If your coin flips match that exact sequence then you hit your target seed.

It's a misnomer, and was created/attributed because "offset" is also just as incorrect when referring to a the spread you happen to get, on 4th gen games, when capturing something after a particular number of RNG calls.

It means that if you get the correct the seed and flip the coin in game it will match the output of the heads and tails column and if you didnt get the correct seed it won't. It's just a quick way to verify that you got hit your target time and delay (and seed, of course) before having to do 1,000 journal flips or walk 5,000 steps to hatch an egg.

Does anyone know why the RNG reporter won't work for me? This is a different issue from the last times. When trying to breed for a shiny egg it doesn't seem to work for my game. Got the seed, did the taps, but when I got the egg, it wasn't shiny. Yes, my ID and SID were correct, I clicked "Shiny Only", I don't have foreign parents, I used the right method and I didn't mess up the taps. Unless I did mess up the taps for the FOURTH time in a row, something isn't working. Yes, my poketech (however you spell it) was on the app right before happiness checker.
