I'm thinking of running a Magikarp, Caterpie combo. Magikarp starts off with splash and Caterpie cleans up with Stringshot, (jut incase anything survives that splash, ya'know what I mean). I'm also thnking about backing them up with Starly for a little speed just incase and Kricketune (woah now!) for a little muscle. What do y'all think.

Kricketune can definitely sweep with that sweet Bide!

;P

I'm surprised they didn't ban Magikarp this year.

...Mind if I copy that team?
It totally destroys TR and any Weather Teams.

You sure can. The trick is to use the max stats cheat on a Gameshark so they all have 999 for each stat. No one will EVAR expect it!!!! it's flawless!!!

Man I have to face EE! This kinda sucks. I hope my team can hold up to his. Maybe I will get lucky and get in but and him and his son won't. XD. Sorry EE I sorta want you to get in but I don't want to die either lol.

hee hee thanks ^.6

I really did thin Kricketune was cool when I first started playing through Pearl. But...then...he just didn't grow?!?!? 0_o

I'd love to go, but I've got SATs on Saturday, so I don't think I can attend. Not legally being able to drive out of New Jersey would also have been a problem. I planned a team anyway just for the fun of it.

Lead with Shuckle (Power Trick and Focus Sash) and a Bronzong (Trick Room). Dusknoir and Starmie as backup, basically used as sweepers.

I feel like I'd have a good team. Suckle could probably sweep pretty well after maxing his attack power. He'd go first because of Trick Room. Earthquake and Rock Slide could hit both enemies, and Protect will be there to stop getting hit from Explosion. Starmie and Dusknoir should be able to clean up the scraps.

Am I missing something with Power Trick Shuckle? I mean, it gets what, 600 odd attack with Power Trick? Surely you could just Swords Dance with Rhyperior instead, end up with higher attack, still outspeed most things with in trick room and not die in one hit to bullet punches.

lol. Thats true. Anyone know how they do the hack checks? Cuz I use AR codes for my breeding to get TMs/HMs and berries and I was wondering if I threw them all away before the tourny will I be fine as long as my pokemon are legit or do they check the whole game?

GEC got disqualified for having too many TMs on his cart, so if you've used the AR code to get 99 TMs, there's a good chance they'll catch you out on that.
There's more detail into how hack checks are performed further back in the thread I think.

That isn't entirely true, Rhyperior is stil outspeed in TR without the use of Curse since most TR Poke ran have a base speed of 30 and Rhyperior is running 40. Even though Rhyperior won't be dying to the Common Shadow Sneak, Special Attacks regardless of how they are comming from make him just as frail as a Power Trick Shuckle to Defenses even with Solid Rock and investement in his Sp. Def. After some playtesting he still falls short on the Physical side, not living long enough to warrant too much use. Your choice of Pokemon really depends on what do you want to worry about, Physical Attacks or Sp. Attacks.

Last year when I made it as far as top 16 in New York they did check my game and said it was fine even though I had max TMs and other items, and I had a NFE version in my box of the pokemon I was using in my party at the time.. Perhaps the methods have changed this year and I'll be very disappointed if I don't pass that check even with certain precautions I am now taking based on what happened to GEC in London.

Hey guys cant wait to see you all tomorrow. ill be wearing a Legend of Zelda shirt with black puma's and puma hat

Damn it, I live near Biden-town (barely 2 hours away), but my dad is in rehab from surgery, and not being able to drive means I can't come.

I'll be there in spirit though, so make us proud! Win in Philly too, guys!

Just want to say Im loving this thread! The vids of the tourney are excellent and its interesting watching it pan out with so many smogoners in the mix.

I didn't realse this was going on at all, and probably lucky I didnt as I wouldnt have been able to make it to London that day anyway. Its good to see these types of tournaments becoming a more regular state of affairs, and with HG/SS coming I would presume their will be another tournament like this in the future, warrenting actaully making some 2v2 VGC ruleset teams myself.

Shame about some of the hack checking being dodgy (too many TMs ergo hack, wheres the logic in that?) and about random entrants, but great that its happening and is drawing people together.

Good luck to those through so far in the finals! :D

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while or updated the list, but I hope to see you all in Philly. I don't really expect to find you guys (I have bad sight, and few of you gave me a description of yourselves) but I hope you guys can find me. I'll be in a black Fly Rayquaza/Rayclownza shirt (art by SailorClef: http://sailorclef.deviantart.com/art/Rayclownza-40324003), a Rayquaza hat I got at the Pokemon Center stall at JAA, and black sneakers. I have curly hair, (possibly) glasses, and I'm Asian (Filipino to be precise). Now off to get my Bold 31/26/31/30/30/31 Cresselia with HP Ground 70.
