Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Okay, let me see if I finally understand how to do this... to RNG abuse wild pokemon you search for a bunch of frames in Method J, select one, subtract one from it and search for that frame in Method 1, take the last 4 digits, then divide by 656 and if it isn't the right pokemon slot... search for another frame??

Yeah, this is not working. My second delay looks like it should be 14, as I keep hitting that on my computer's clock, but the program tells me it's 13. Something has to be wrong.

Yep. It's best to have a synchronizer so you have options.

and I have to sweet scent it right? that subtracts 2 from the RNG advancing thing then I subtract how many wild legendaries are still roaming right?

Yes the formula is

(Target frame)- (Frame of legend/process- sweet scent is 2)- (number of roamers) and divide the final result by 2 to get amount of journal flips.

Hmm, this isn't making sense to me. On my last post, I showed my calibration attempt and found I should be waiting 13 seconds, but here's what keeps happening to me:

Target time: 01/01/09 | 12:00:25 | 607

As my computer clock hits xx:xx:00, I hit okay on setting my clock to 11:59:00. I then keep an eye on my computer clock until it hits the next minute at xx:xx:12, where I soft-reset. But I'm clicking as fast as I can, and yet as I glance to the computer clock as I press continue, it reads xx:xx:26-28. Am I doing anything wrong?

Hey guys I tested the birds respawn thing and it worked.
The first time I went for Zapdos so Articuno and Moltres were still around.
Basically, all you have to do is:
-Kill the two birds
-Go to the pokemon league and beat the E4
-Go to Oak's house in Eterna City and save in front of him
-Now talk to him and the two birds will be roaming in sinnoh again (and you will be able to RNG abuse for them)

Moltres starting frame will be 1, while Articuno's will be 6 (which was Zapdos initial frame).

Ok ---

You found a value of 13 seconds during calibration.

That is your magic number.

You will use 13 as the number of seconds of any target time you ever attempt.

So you find a nice spread, generate seed to time and see this list:

12:25:00
12:26:01
12:27:02
...
12:35:13 <------------- THIS is what you want to target.

Now that you did all of this practice work and calibration you know what when you reset at :00 that you end up with the seconds component of your DS time as 13.

So you reset your ds as 12:35:00.
You tap A furiously
Magically, you hit A on continue at 12:35:13, which is your target time.

It's like this:

It is raining outside.
You do not want to stand around in the rain.
The bus comes at 12:45 PM (target time)
It takes you 15 minues to reach the bus stop. (seconds found during calibration)
If you are late, you're fucked. If you are early, you're soaked.
So to reach the station at 12:45 you need to leave at exactly 12:30 (reset time)

Also, the only reason you really synchronize to an external clock is to know when to reset. You really want to ingore it after that. Calibration told you what you are going to get as your seconds.

really, really long explanation that's probably making him frustrated.

I understand what you mean by "catching the bus", it's a lot like catching a spread in the Emerald RNG, right?

I guess what my problem is, is that I don't think I'm hitting the same second delay, not matter how fast I push the buttons. Just eyeing the clock I'm using, sometimes I land on xx:xx:25, sometimes xx:xx:27, and even xx:xx:28. Either the clock I'm using is inconsistent, or I'm not doing something right. I guess I'll keep trying, but I don't seem to be making progress.

Don't eye the clock. When you were resetting at :00 and finding your initial seed you got 13, so that's your number. You can always verify your initial seed with coin flips first, and then capture something if you are off to verify and correct.

Would I be better off setting the clock to 11:59:00, then watching the game clock, and as soon as it turns to 12:00:00, start a stopwatch, then SR at 12 seconds?

EDIT: Wait, let me take your advice and try finding a time spread that ends in xx:xx:13

As someone who uses a stopwatch, I could tell you what I would do:

1. Set clock to 11:59:00 and start stopwatch at the same moment
2. Soft reset at 1:00 on the stopwatch if it takes you 12 seconds to load your game. If it takes 13 seconds, load at :59 on your stopwatch.
3. Mash A and hope you hit your delay.

This sounds rather difficult hmm.. I hope I can manage it :/

You've made a lot of other very similar posts. Please stop doing that. If you have specific questions ask them, but the constant musing about the difficulty adds nothing to the conversation.

This sounds dumb, but how do I go about checking how far off I was from my target? I know I immediately catch something and check it's IVs, then plug them into the seed finder, but how does that help me find my "positioning" relative to my target.

Sorry about all of these questions. x.x

Damn... I caught Zapdos and Articuno to check my seed. Oh well.

Anyway, I can now say I've caught shinies of the Lake Trio within an afternoon. Not bad, I must say. Though I had to masterball Mesprit because it managed to break out of 80 luxury balls, 20 premier balls and 15 timer balls while at 1HP and asleep.

If you have talked to oak previously, does that mean that my trio's ivs are set already? or do the ivs get reset every time you talk to oak?

They are already set. What you should do is kill them in battle and beat the E4 again or something and the birds return to oak. So then you can release them and change their IVs/ abuse for them.

Tase said it doesn't work. She caught one then tried defeating the others but she said it didn't work. Maybe they all need to be defeated to do it, but I don't know.
