Newbie OU Team Rate

Welcome. I decided to post here since I found this site full of ideas about competitive battling, which is very great. I'm here for you all to rate my team, which I've been using most of the times in ShoddyBattle. :)

crobat.png

Crobat @ Leftovers - My Taunt Lead
Nature: Jolly
Move set

~ Taunt
~ Confuse Ray
~ Brave Bird
~ Roost

EVS : 100 ATK/100 DEF/255 SPEED/55 SDEF

Well, here is my lead. Crobat makes an excellent lead with its 394 speed, it's guaranteed that it could shut down many of the Baton Passing sets or just stat ups or Stealth Rocks and Spikes that your enemy would make. After Taunt, my main goal is to either damage, or just continue to annoy my enemy.

I've been thinking of replacing Roost for another attack or some status moves since I only put Roost there is when Crobat can have a sweep with Brave Bird and then roost off the damage.

and my EV spread is pretty weird, I know. I gave some EVS for Defense for it to survive a bit of attacks, and lowering some damage of super-effective hits. I also think that 100 EVS for Attack is okay for Crobat so that it would be able to hit harder.

Why did I choose Crobat on my team?

As stated, Crobat is amazing as my lead. Azelf and other Stealth Rockers and Spikers who are slower than Crobat has no chance of fulfilling their job
since they are afflicted with Taunt and is forced to switch out or to use one of their attacks. Confuse Ray is also added for annoyance. :toast:

blastoise.png

Blastoise @ Leftovers - Rapid Spin Support
Nature: Bold
Move Set

~ Ice Beam
~ Surf
~ Rapid Spin
~ Protect

EVS : 255 HP/100 DEF/55 SPA/100 SDEF

Blastoise, even if it's only UU, is more effective than Starmie as a rapid spiiner in my team. This is a set that can be entirely countered by Water types, but whatever, all I need for Blastoise is to Rapid Spin and to damage what he can damage.

Protect is kind of off topic here,, so, can you also provide me an alternative for it? The EVS are more focused more into Defense, as you might know. :D Thespread allows Blatoise to further improve it's respectable defenses and the 55 SATK allows it to beat Salamance with no Defense investments. (0/0)

Why did I choose Blastoise over Starmie?
Since there are many Pursuit users in OU, and Starmie is actually weak to it, I decided to choose Blastoise. he boasts more defense than Starmie, and even if he don't have a very respectable SPA and SPEED, he can fulfill the duties well. He could durvive more hits than Starmie. :D (Though sometimes I do prefer a fast Spinner)

heatran.png

Heatran @ Leftovers - One Status; 3 Attack Flare
Nature: Modest
Move Set

~ Fire Blast
~ Earth Power
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Will-O-Wisp

EVS: 55 HP/100 DEF/255 SPA/100 SDEF

This set is self-explanatory. Attack with 394 Special Attack with those 3 moves that provide useful coverage, and if you can't do anything to that somoeone, Will-O-Wisp him and switch out.

How can Heatran help my team ?
Heatran is a very effective Dragon counter (except for Kingdra, Garchomp, and to a lesser extent, Flygon), he resists Outrage, immune to Fire Blast, and he's only problem is Earthquake (which the damge can be lessened with Will-O-Wisp). Otherwise, he can handle it. With the attacks I choose, only few Pokemon resists it, so he can be my all-out-attacker too.

breloom.png

Breloom @ Toxic Orb - Substitute User
Nature: Adamant
Move Set

~ Substitute
~ Focus Punch
~ Leech Seed
~ Spore

EVS: 252HP/252 ATK/6 DEF
The star of my team. Subpunch, Subseed and Spore is extremely annoying for other competitive battlers, so that's the reason why I love this Breloom so much. :toast: You can Spore or Substitute first, and proceed in which route you want to take. wither Focus Punching or Leech Seeding then Fous Punching.

Why did I choose Breloom?
Because of his versatility. He can annoy and attack effectively. Enough said.

blissey.png
blissey.png

Blissey @ Leftovers - CMBliss
Nature: Bold
Move Set

~ Calm Mind
~ Softboiled
~ Thunderbolt
~ Ice Beam

EVS: 252 HP/252 DEF/6 SDEF

Simple set for Blissey. CM Bliss is probably one of the best sets for a Pokemon.

Why did I choose this set and why Blissey even she only has a base 75 SPA?
She's really bulky so she can afford some Calm Minds while others can't do it so effectively. I also find it relatively easy for me to beat other Pokemon.

dragonite.png

Dragonite @ Life Orb - Dragon Dancer Sweeper
Nature: Adamant
Move Set

~ Dragon Dance
~ Outrage
~ Earthquake
~ Roost

EVS: 252 ATK/148 DEF/108 SDEF

My Dragon. I love it, since it could devastate any teams with its DDLO'ed Outrage & Earthquake.

Why did I choose him over Salamance and why the weird EV spread?
Salamence is strong, I know, but both of them has similar high Attack stat (which is the only thing I use in this set) and Dragonite basically has better defensive stats in both edges, so I picked him. The weird EVS are splitted for morer survival in both sides and also adding some EVS for stronger Attack stats.

please, rate it if you can. :D

The fact that people aren't rating your team may be because of the lack of descriptions for your pokemon. I suggest describing in detail how each member of your team contributes towards a win and also describing your choices of EVs, because they seem to be not thought out at all. Another example of what needs an explanation is why you chose Blastoise over Starmie. You tell us that it is 'more effective on your team,' but you don't tell us why.

Once you have better thought out descriptions I will come back and give you an equally well thought out rate.

HOW DID I BUILD MY TEAM!?

blissey-f.png

Since Blissey has remained one of my favourite Pokemon ever, and she does perform great special walling (and not to mention offensive), She is one vital part of my team.

breloom.png

After one special wall, I need one Pokemon who is capable of attacking and annoying at the same time, and Breloom was the Pokemon I was searching for. It has very different set of resistamces and weaknesses, he's so unique, and I love his ability, that's why I choose him.

heatran.png

And since I have a physical attacker, I must balance my team with a special sweeper, and Heatran is my choice. With it's great movepool, a x4 Ground weakness doesn't stop it.

blastoise.png

Oh!? If my Team will be affected with Stealth Rock and Spikes, how can I counter them? A Rapid Spinner must be on my team. I find Blastoise the most fitted Pokemon for that spot. Sporting a fantastic base 105 Defense and a more than respectable 105 Special Defense, he can survive those unboosted Thunderbolts that await him while having a turn of Rapid Spin.

crobat.png

To lessen Blastoise's hectic job, I had to find a perfect lead for my team. In my research, I found Crobat, having an amazing base 130 speed, so it could beat many Stealth Rockers, Stat-Uppers, and Spikers by pulling off a Taunt before they could do their job.

dragonite.png

Nad, so that I could actually make a decent team, I think I lack something. I lack a Dragon. Dragonite fits this thing so much, even though I don't know how to use a dragon. He is only a substitute since I'm finding a perfect Pokemon (which is I think SpecsdeVoir),, but I still love him.

So, this completes my team!

Threats

Black - really not much of a threat
Violet - moderate threat
Maroon - Major Threat (if this is really maroon :toast: LOL)

ELECTRIVIRE - he is easily a threat of my team, with Blastoise, Blissey, Dragonite and Crobat being easily scared by Thunder Punches. Cross Chop easily scares Heatran, so Breloom is the only Pokemon I can trust to beat him. Unfortunately, Breloom, due to Breloom's low defenses, he can be either OHKO or 2HKO by Cross Chop or anything.

to be continued......

FIRST OF ALL : I put 255 in some stats since you can consider me a noob when I made this team. :naughty:

Blastoise - I certainly do not find Blastoise's EVS so weird at all. The spread is mainly focused in both Defenses(it would be it's only team goal it could make) so that it could survive more hits than focusing in only one stat.

Heatran - Here, I really know that it's weird, but for me, it's more than helpful. 255 or 252 EVS on Special Attack, for the ultimate boost for his attacks, and the rest for defensive matters. I find it amusing that sometimes my Heatran survives many Earthquakes that's aim for it. :D

Crobat - the same for other Pokemons, max it's main stat, Speed, and spread love witha lil' bit of Attack and Some defenses. :toast:

If you use an IV calc, you can see what numbers your stats hit, and you can maximise the efficiency. e.g, why have 100 speed when 88 does the job?

You need to test some of the EV spreads given on the strategy pokedex. They are usually the most effecient spreads for the set they are for. Check them out here:
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/crobat
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/blastoise
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/heatran
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/blissey
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/breloom
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/dragonite
Your current EV spreads are not thought out at all. You simply threw a bunch of random numbers into random stats. You should work on fixing this.

you may find that infernape and salamence destroy you.:toast:

I Recommend replacing blissey with rotom-w

Rotom -W
503.png

@leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Bold Nature
EVs:252 hp, 168 Def, 88 Spe

~Discharge
~Will-o-wisp
~Hydro Pump/ Ice Beam
~Shadow Ball/ Light Screen/ Reflect

Thank you for those kind tips.

I'm thinking of replacing Dragonite with a Choice (either Scarf or Specs) Gardevoir. :D

here's the Move Set I've been thinking of.

gardevoir.png

Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf/Specs
Nature : Modest (for the sheer power) / Timid (for fast attacks)

~ Wish
This is my trick. When I use Wish, there'll be a possibility that people will think that this is a support set. so, when I switch out, and my other comrades are damaged, I will switch back to Gardevoir, they will think I will just Wish but instead, I'll use one of her attacks. The element of surprise is probably the most vital thing in this set.
~ Psychic
~ Thunderbolt
~ Will-O-Wisp/Grass Knot

EVS: 252 SPA/252 SPE/4 HP

I don't like Alakazam since he can't take a hit, and Gardevoir could at least take a hit or 2. :D
