Hey all, I just got a DS-i as a gift and decided to get Platinum for it to rekindle my love for POGEYMANZ. I also had diamond before but haven't played it for a while.

I've been working on building a team, but obviously the hardest part is acquiring all the pokemon you want with high IV's and a good nature. Most people use correct-natured Ditto's @ Everstone to breed high IV pokemon. Problem is, Ditto is rare-ish in Platinum and Diamond and I still suck at getting long chains with the pokeradar. I haven't gotten longer than a chain of 9 so far (it's embarassing, I know). I heard that in Emerald, dittos are pretty easy to catch, and a lot of players just transferred their ditto-whore-farm from emerald to the new generation games to continue their various forms of prostitution.

My problem is that I don't have a farm of Ditto sex slaves to transfer.

So, my questions are;

1. Should I buy Emerald to catch dittos more easily?

2. Should I use pokeradar (and stop sucking at it) to catch Ditto?

3. How many should I expect to catch before I get a reliable collection of those blobby pink sluts?

4. How long does it usually take to build a decent team?

5. Am I doing it wrong?

I would trade for some Ditto's but I don't have much to offer. Just some legendaries with sucky IV's and an event Regigigas that everyone probably already has.

Hey, I'd just like to note that you don't really have any way to trade with Emerald if you have a DSi. It doesn't have a GBA slot.

Play the slots at the Game Corner in Veilstone City. It's the building near the south with flashy lights around the door. Once you see a Pokeball appear on the bottom screen, try to win some coins and enter the Clefairy mode. Click the buttons at where Clefairy points and continue doing this for 10 rounds. After you finish, go to the counter to pick it up. You can find more details through a search.

...Eevee can breed with Smeargle.

in the European version of platinum there is no gambling > therefore you can't play the slots, whenever you approach a machine all it says is "its a games machine" and you can collect coins daily

I know eevee can breed with smeargle but togetic can't. Togetic can learn yawn and wish, but does anyone know any way that you could egg move both of them to an eevee? You could easily do one or the other...but no idea how you do both

My question: I'm trying to breed for a calm Drifloon that has 31/x/x/31/x/x

I hatched some Drifloon wich were Often dozes off(=1-6-11-16-21-26-31 HP). I elevated them to level five to look up their max stats at level five in the breeding guide chart, and they all had 25 hp (wich is the max hp at level five), but when I checked their stats at level 100, it said their HP IV only was 21 =/

Because the difference between 21 and 31 it seems odd to me that a 21 IV also results in max HP at level 5.

Can someone explain this to me since I'm really getting confused and making stupid mistakes when I breed.

Icy Wind lowers the opponent's speed by 1 stage, in a double battle, it lowers both opponent's speed. I don't think Icy Wiind has any merits on Regice, besides doing damage and lowering speed. Thunder Wave however, drops the opponent's speed down to 25% of their original, and does no damage. However, the opponent can just switch, out from the speed drop, but paralysis is permanent, unless they use heal bell or aromatherapy. So, using thunderwave is better.

Thunder is only good on a rain team, the accuracy is not too reliable. Zap Cannon is only good in a gravity team, as the accuracy is even more unreliable, but you do get the 100% chance of paralysis.

1. Lets say hypothetically, I use my R4 Device, and I hatch a magikarp I bred. It didn't have the nature i wanted, or the IVs. So i Remove the SD Card, and edit the save file of my game with Pokesav. And I just Edit the Nature, and the IVs, But everything else, Like, EV training, Getting the right moves, etc... I get without using Pokesav. Now tell me, would this be considered hacking, and the magicarp is no longer legit?

2. If I were to, say, trade the magicarp here on smogon, even though it was edited using Pokesav, would i be banned here?

Remember, these are just hypothetical questions...

1. Depends on your budget right now.

2. Ditto is one of the special Pokemon in the Pokemon Mansion, so it should be that hard to get.

3. I used just one. Maybe two because you can get much more by just breeding.

4. It depends really.

You don't seem to get how Smeargle works. Have Smeargle Sketch Yawn. Then either wait for it to learn sketch again or have the move relearner teach it. Then Sketch Wish. Smeargle needs no contact with Togetic at all.

You can target an ally in a double battle with any one-target move. This includes Sketch. I'm sure you can figure it out from here.

In the restaurant near lake Valor you can do double battles everyday. Just have a Smeargle and a pokémon that knows wish/yawn and do a double battle. Use wish/yawn first, than use skecth on your own other pokémon.

Anyone willing to answer my question?

At low levels, the formulas for stats don't result in too much variety. I checked, and Drifloons with 25 HP at Lv5 have a HP IV of 20 or higher, so you're weeding out ones with 19 or less.

There are newbie givaways with Great IV dittos in the Wifi section. Maybe if you're breeding for a specific Hidden Power you could search the trade threads till you get the one you need. They're really not that expensive to trade for.

1)Give it a lucky egg and put it 1st in your party and switch it out in battle OR Give it an Exp Share and put it later in your party
2)Go to the resort area or somewhere where there are high level pokemon
3)Open up metalkid's IV calculator and fill out the nature part and what your stats are for L1
4)Fight any 1 pokemon to go up like 6 levels or whatever.
5)As your pokemon goes up each level put the stats in the calculator
6)If it still isn't giving an exact enough range, repeat the process or use a few rare candies it shouldn't take that many levels to give you accurate results.

There's no way to get them at all accurately. You can get some information from the IV guy in the battle tower in platinum, but it's very inaccurate; combining that with the IV check message on the pokemon's summary screen (e.g. "likes to run", "capable of taking hits", or whatever), will at least allow you to figure out if you have a perfect 31 in at least one stat, and failing that, what your best stat is. Trying to get more information than that, though, is pretty much impossible. So you can do a quick check to see if the stats are worth investigating further, or junk that you should ignore; but you're going to have to level the pokemon up or save to get more data.

Dr Luncatic, there are some redistributable Ditto floating around the WiFi subforum, iirc. Posting in the Simple Questions, Somple Requests thread there may help you get some Ditto for cheap or free, even.

EDIT: Darkdeathscythe, adding a Ghost-type like Rotom-A might be a good idea as well.
