I hope the safari thingeh magig is better than sinoh's sh**iest safari zone ever! It was soooo boring, and the mud thing just got on my f****** nerves.

Pokebeach is reporting that you'll be able to customize the Cianwood Safari Zone. Now I'm intrigued.

The first scan reveals that in regards to the Safari Zone, you can customize its layout and send it to your friends to use, similar to how you can create your own levels in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. From available Pokemon you can change where they will appear; not many details are known about how this will work, however. In the Safari Zone’s entrance, you can use a computer called “Custom Area” to switch around and customize the area’s appearance.

If this means we can adjust rarities of Pokemon in the zone, this has the potential to be awesome.

Well if that happens I'd still be excited. I've never played 4th gen Uber doubles and I like centralization because there's a good amount of room to spot weaknesses (think Obi mode). Plus, I get to use my favorites there ^_^.
I suspect this is the reason they are being included now. Little kids are proud of their legendary Pokemon, and were probably bummed when they learned they wouldn't be able to use them in tournaments.

If you want to swear here don't half-ass it.
I seriously doubt that will happen.
Earlier today I would have seriously doubted the idea of customizing the Safari Zone at all. Seriously who would have believed that? Who knows what you'll be able to adjust?

I think this Safari Zone stuff is really cool. It's almost as if you were appointed to be the new Warden :)

Is there any confirmation on this "has to be caught in HG/SS" rumour? That would really hurt if it was true. I'm already coming up with a new strategy, lol: looks like San Diego's going to be the last hurrah for my current VGC crew, which Shoe is using.

Also on a completely unrelated note, Jibaku I just noticed your avatar is Master Chief dressed as a chef. For months I'd thought it was a pepper pot with a moustache and got really confused over it.

its not true, the pokesunday people said they are going to use sapphire kyogre next year (just like every other fucking person)

Wow how sad still no lati@s or 1st and 3rd gen starters.
IIRC we didn't find about the Legendary Birds being in Platinum until people actually started playing the game. I'm sure we haven't heard everything about this game yet, considering it's only a month(?) until it comes out and about the only mention of Kanto so far has been dealing with the Magnet train.

I'm going to catch a super slow groudon for VCG next year, since most people will probably go for rain teams, a slow groudon can set up sun, then exegutor/tangrowth can destroy those waters with solarbeam, +heatran for other sun teams.

EDIT: Shit, Scarf Kyorge with water spout+ Water absorb pokemon=scary

Kyogre and Groudon are caught in caves, both at level 50. According to Serebii. I wasn't expected anything different, as their "leader" was also at lv50 and they wouldn't make them stronger than it...

Well there would be no effort involved if you could just up the appearance rate of anything you wanted each time.

- A poster in Serebii said you can only use HGSS caught/bred Pokemon in next year's tourney. Am I getting the feeling that they're trying to phase out the RNG?

They didn't show any proof. This a little while before this rumor was brought up. I used Google Translator (lol) to make things easier to read, and HGSS is mentioned only once, and it's when it's said only these games are allowed. But anything about the pokémon themselves is nowhere to be seen. And quite frankly, Mewtwo, Kyogre, Lugia and Palkia allowed but not Heatran, Regigigas, Azelf and Zapdos? Really? Really?

Pokebeach said:
As hinted in the box showing a battle for the 2010 World Championship's video game tournament, Pokemon Sunday yesterday confirmed that Legendary Pokemon will be allowed in the tournament: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia and Giratina can be on your team. One of the hosts on Pokemon Sunday stated that he has always had a Kyogre but was never able to use it, which means he caught it in Sapphire. If so, Pokemon Sunday may be implying that players can use the above legendaries from any of your games at next year's tournament, not just the Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Dialga, etc. caught in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

I'm sorry, but if the host didn't get corrected when he said that, I don't see why we would not be allowed to use anything caught/bred prior to HGSS, RNG'd or not. I was actually expecting them to ban pokémon caught/bred in Advance, but it seems like they're not doing even that...

Water spout actually just hits the opponents. Plus Kyogre learns it at lvl80. You mean surf?

But yeah that's gonna be scary. I have an idea how to do well, though.

I hope Gamefreak revamps the cries for the first 251 Pokemon. I don't want to go through all of HG/SS and have to listen to those mechanized chirps and gurgles from 1995.

If they didn't do that during advance when Pokemon started getting better sounding cries, I doubt they ever will.

On the contrary, I think this is as good an opportunity as they'll ever get to do it. All the Pokemon with the old bad cries are what will be making up the story of the game. They have a perfect excuse to revamp them now. In advance there would have been little point since Johto and Kanto Pokemon made up so little of the story mode.

What about Rayquaza's Air Lock? It shuts down all weather teams until he's switched out, or dies. Pair him with a Mewtwo or a fast Taunter and you can shut down weather teams whether Rayquaza is there or not.

While we're still discussing Ubers I'd like to list all the important moves they will miss at Lv.50. Note that this list is subject to change should HGSS change the levelset and/or introduce tutors

Mewtwo: Loses Aura Sphere
Lugia: Loses Aeroblast. I'm not sure if losing this move is losing much but eh it doesn't matter.
Ho-oh: Loses Sacred Fire
Kyogre: Loses Water Spout
Groudon: Loses nothing of importance
Rayquaza: Loses Extremespeed. This could be a major loss
Dialga: Loses Aura Sphere. Aside from that expect Dialga to be a staple because of its insane typing, no Aura Sphere Mewtwos, and reduced Earthquake damage
Palkia: Gains Hydro Pump, which Palkia probably needed. Loses nothing of importance
Giratina/Giratina-O: Loses Aura Sphere, but gains Shadow Sneak, making it the only unbanned Uber (to date, once again), to have a priority move. The catch? It can't touch Smeargle :(

EDIT for below: I meant Shadow Sneak can't touch Smeargle. And Palkia gains Pump, not lose it.

Hydro Pump is a level 1 move. And doesn't Giratina get Brick Break?

Kyogre and Groudon are Base 90 Speed. Tyranitar is Base 61 and Abomasnow is Base 60 (and Hippowdon is Base 47 if it matters). Is there something I'm missing that says that Rain and Sun teams are the only things that can work if 670/680 Legendaries are in?

Back when JAA happened, there was no abomasnow and Sandstorm wasn't as good. Rain and Sun have more monster support with abilities and attack. Also, there are more Ubers that can take advantage of sun or rain while not many can take advantage of sandstorm or hail. Also, kyogre and groudon are stronger and have better base stats, while the others don't.

Not to mention that it's much harder to use sandstorm in 2vs2 due to the much faster and more offense orientated pace of the battles.

So gamefreak is for sure going to let ubers into next years vgc? Are they honestly that stupid?
