Also, can anyone help me with a good Pokémon for taking out Dialga? Right now it really kills my team >.<
Anything with Earthquake.
Fighting moves will work too. I personally don't like Machamp, but maybe a bulky one could work. Or Hariyama. I would say Primeape because it is strong and outspeeds, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to OHKO with Cross Chop and SR unless the Dialga runs a Defense lowering nature and even than it is not guaranteed. If possible, try Special Fighting or Ground to target Dialga's weaker Sp.Def.

lol SR? and wouldn't Primeape run Close Combat ._., I think the other issue with Dialga is Magnet Rise :/ that just removes one of its weaknesses leaving it with the Fighting Weakness...

Also, I used Metalkid's Damage Calc which I think shows damage a little HIGHER than the actual damage done. Either way, what I said about Cross Chop is true, even with SR. And I forgot about Close Combat. Probably because Cross Chop sounds cooler to me and/or Close Combat reminds me of the omnipresent Lucario who I despise and/or the fact that the calc didn't list Close Combat under Primeape's moveset. Heatran would be a great counter if Dialga didn't get Earth Power as well. Another thing is that an Overheat from Heatran outpowers Earth Power. Maybe Shuca? I don't know.

I mean, generally when would you ever pull out an SR in the middle of a VGC game lol, and yeah iirc Metalkid's is slightly off

Okay, thanks a lot Blizz, I was considering Lucario and Heatran both with the Fighting and Ground advantage over Dialga. Unfortunately Heatran doesn't fit well into my team, so I might try Lucario testing on PBR.

Thanks for the calcs too, you've saved me a lot of time with Primeape, who I would've ended up doing later, haha.

Off to check out Lucario!

Well, it would certainly be unexpected...and also completely useless. Doing it for shits and giggles is the only reason (though it might be semi-practical against something with Water Spout or Eruption.)

As for a Damage Calc, I've been using the one on Psypokes.

pretty much, considering you're only hitting the two Pokemon in the back..., the only use it might ever have is breaking the sash on one of the back Pokemon, but lets face it, you might as well just attack it instead

Just using SR as an example of how much power Primeape should have, but doesn't. However, that is without an LO or CB and against a mammoth 120 defense, Primeape does adequately enough.

I hate Lucario, don't ask why.

I also hate Heatran and the only way I would use it is if I used Magma Storm. For originality, utility, surprise, and why-not factors. I do not consider relying on the 70% accuracy as being a person who try's by luck or hax. To me, all Fire Blast has going for it is the awesome animation of shooting a burning poorly drawn stick figure IMO.

Also, thought of another strategy. How about Mew and Giratina(forme doesn't matter, but Altered for me because I like defense)as leads with Mew having MAX attack and explosion. Depending on the opponents pokemon, you can open up with explosion, attack with something else, protect(for scouting), helping hand(maybe better for Origin Forme), or just switch. Mew is just awesome and has lots of options to stick on with explosion.

lol Primeape does have the advantage of being immune to Dark Void...
lol Magma Storm... surprise maybe... especially when you miss >_> but utility? not like many people switch in doubles anyway :/ so that's kind of out there..., lol poorly drawn stick figure? actually it's the character for fire ._.
hmm blowing up an Uber... sounds kind of... wasteful? then again... I was planning on running Self Destruct Mewtwo but uh yeah... XD

Utility for trapping I guess.
It looks like a poorly drawn stick figure to me. Below is a somewhat accurate way of showing what fireblast looks like IMO. Just imagine the dots weren't there.

If blowing up one pokemon can potentially get rid of 2, while also having other moves, than I see no reason why it is not viable.

Currently getting ready for LNT.

well yeah I did note how in doubles there are less switching, meaning less need for actually trapping one of them...
lol I know what you mean, after all I run an Explosion team myself, I just mean running it on an Uber is a bit... eh... lol :/ since it's still only potentially :X and the exchange is only really worth it if you take one of their Ubers down with you, but with Dialga and Giratina, I'm not sure how possible that is
well... Fire Blast is supposed to represent 火 ._.

252 EV Adamant CB Explo OHKO's even Steels - Azelf and Metagross can do it, so other Pokemon with a high Base Attack stat (like Mewtwo) will be able to.

That aside, the Explosion strategy is easily predicted - in doubles, it's common for Azelf, Metagross, and other leads to do it, so the effectiveness isn't there, and you're already down a Pokemon compared to your opponent's 4. Mewtwo might be the best candidate to use it; since he is largely used for his Special Attack, people won't see it coming and won't guard against it.

The trapping comment was for regular, single battle play.
I know what fire blast means and its symbol, but that is what it looks like in the game.
Explosion can be ran with other moves. Predict that they will switch to a ghost and then... POW.
Mew is awesome.

Do we have to use ubers in this tourney. My team will most likely have them but was it confirmed if it was required yet? I also want to old rules back >=(.

Ubers can be fun to use, and I do have a team, but now with the auto level bullshit, everyone will be having a tyranitar on their team which means we'll see everyone running Metagross or a fighting Pokemon :(.

No, not required, and there's always a chance the US (and maybe Europe) won't have them anyway.

hopefully they won't have them XD, but yeah, if they forced you to have two of them... that would be kind of...
grah still too lazy to set up PBR >_> or check if I can use the WiFi

I'm sure you aren't required to use 2 ubers, its just a limit to 2 ubers (what they consider uber). Its a good idea to use them since they are some of the most powerful pokemon in the game, I'm taking full advantage of that.

And lets face it, they will NOT change the rules for the US tournaments. When worlds come around players will have to rework thier team to adjust to different rules if they did that.

well, generally are we supposed to know the rules in Japan? since we really only know cause we have that interest and looked into ourselves, they never really told us did they? so in the end it would be our faults for making teams that held two Ubers, rather than theirs for changing rules that we were never actually told

I've got a question, and it is probably a stupid one- Does my OT name of J:)Fuck disqualify me or my pokes from VGC? I don't see it in the rules that I've found online, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

uh I think it does.... iirc you can't have Pokemon with an OT name that has profanity in it cause there are little kids there too .__. but that might have been a rule two years ago.. I remember it prevented me from using that Regirock >_>

If you nickname your pokemon or have an OT that the staff deems it offensive, then you'll probably be disqualified. I have no idea what the limit is, but I would assume that the OT you mentioned would probably disqualify you. ;) No need to worry though, since when the US versions of HG/SS come out you can just start a game with an acceptable OT.

lol but doesn't that mean he has to rebreed all his Pokemon under that new OT? or can you actually use Pokemon who have profanity in their OT names o.o

This probaly isn't the best place to ask this question, but can you use natural gift move then once in a battle or does it get rid of your berry? I was looking around and some good berries have good natural gift power and a good type.
