Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Can you advance the frame to your target frame simply by walking "X" amount of steps, obviously assuming the frame is >5? I know it will take longer than flipping the journal, but with the step counter app it seems like it would be easier(slower, but easier). I keep hitting my delays but I miss my frame by +-2 frames because I flip one too many/few. IE, I want to hit a 2140 frame, and each 5 frame advancements is equal to 128 steps. Can I just walk 54,784 steps?

EDIT: It probably seems like this is a stupid question, but in the other RNG guide for capturing a perfect pokemon it states: "Any more and it is possible that the RNG will advance again and throw off your calculations."

Alright, I just tried this, and went 54,784 steps, but I didn't get the correct IVs. I got a Timid nature(synchronizer) though. There are a few things I have done to throw this off, however, and would like to know if they affect the RNG advancement:

- Move from one route to another(the sign in the upper left hand corner shows up)
- Interacted with pokemon from the side(made Shaymin turn to the right)

Any ideas which one(as well as my first problem) may be a problem?

A question concerning method 4 spreads in emerald. The chances of obtaining a method 4 spread are similar to those of obtaining a split spread in breeding on emerald and there is no way to control it?

Ok I have this spread for drifloon:

2801740960F 0202b4e2 (TIMID, ability 0) 28/8/31/30/22/30 (Seed: d20f06c5 Frame: 49) HP FIGHTING 68 !!!

The frame on the reporter comes up 46. So I subtract 1 monster frame for 45, subtract 5 for party pokemon for 40, then divide by 2 for 20. So I do 128 steps and 20 journal flips. Twice it has come up as quiet. The only frame in the forties for quiet is 48. Anyway I can correct this?

Are you sure Drifloon's starting frame is 1 and not 3?
If yes, then just do 19 flips and see where it will take you.

I was actually about to say, that I totally forgot to set the reporter from method 1 to method j (been awhile since I've done method j). Ok so I set it to method j and the first frame it gives me is actually 1. I don't know how to tackle this, but does that mean I don't have to do any journal flips?

I see it like this:

1 - 1 = 0 / 2 = 0

one turn to face drifloon.

Yes. Assuming you have no roamers out, of course. If you do, you can't hit frame 1.

But I have to turn once to face drifloon since I'm in valley windworks and by an area of wild pokemon right?
Drifloon appears in the middle of the road in front of the Valley Windworks, not in a patch of grass. Save directly in front of Drifloon, facing it. When you reset the game to hit your delay, and talk to it without doing anything else, you will hit frame 1, since it's monster frame is 1. That means you do not turn or do any journal flips or move at all. All you have to do is hit your delay.

I see it like this:

1 - 1 = 0 / 2 = 0

one turn to face drifloon.

Why do we walk in grass/use journal flips?

To advance the RNG.

In this case how many times do we need to advance the RNG?

0.

What does this mean?

That we don't need to do anything to advance the RNG. At all.

I'm looking for something that steps back the random number generator's sequence of numbers. For example, the sequence of numbers starts off 0, 6073, e97e7b6a, 52713895, 31b0dde4, and 8e425287. Therefore I am looking for a formula that would go 8e425287, 31b0dde4, 52713895, etc.

Look at the RNG Reporter souce. The reverse formula is in LCRNGR.cs.

I never tested this in DPP, but in HG/SS it definitely does, so I would not be surprised if it does the same in DPP. Also, I can assure you that it will if you have a wandering Pokemon loose.

No idea about how close in odds they are, but as far as is known, there is no way to control it.

Thank you!

So to put my other question on a new page, is Spiritomb method 1 or method J? I looked in the guide, but it is left off of the lists for some reason.

If synchronize works it is method J, otherwise 1.

Run a few tests without a synchronizer to see what frame it lands on and let us know. Make sure to take any wandering Pokemon you have into account, though.

can someone please help me out? I am pretty decent in egg abuse, but lately idk what's going on. is it me or something with the game? well anyway for a bp i'm doing my target frame is 53, and i was hitting it perfectly fine when adjusting my speed for the delay, but then i hit 52 by accident once cuz i sped through it way too fast. now whether i go fast or slow i can only hit 52................ what's going on?

EDIT: i just hit my target delay the first time out of like 20 tries. i am absolutely positive that i waited a good 10+ seconds before talking to the daycare man. collected my egg and went to daycare, only to find it wasnt the right set. frame 52 :(

Alright thanks Mingot. Time for another round.

EDIT: Wait, do you have to walk around in grass to advance the RNG, or is it just 128 steps anywhere to advance by 5?

A step or turn in an area (route, cave, whatever) with wild pokemon will advance the RNG by one. The 128 step counter applies everywhere, however. So basically the best way to advance the RNG in the wild is simply turning, rather than taking steps.

Also, Spiritomb is method J for those who were discussing it. It's pretty much the same as Rotom or any other stationary legend.

By telling us exactly what you're doing, and then comparing it to what the guide says.. what you are doing differently is what you are doing wrong.

Well, if you're talking about breeding, then you need to check the nature, ability, and gender of the egg that you DID get, and locate it using the DPPt Egg PID method in the RNG Reporter. You can see how far off from your target you were, and hopefully that will tell you what you did wrong. Chances are it was something wrong with any taps/flips you might have done. Are you using the shiny egg finder or are you simply resetting and checking your seed for shiny egg spreads?

My origanal question was about DPPT Shiny Egg. (on the time finder)

Ok well assuming you are hitting your seed, then the only thing that would mess you up would be your flips/taps or international parents. You can't have international parents, and you need to do all 10 confirmation coin flips, then any happiness app taps, and then coin flips again.

I find when collecting the egg on higher frames than normal, choose a seed that is either before, or 2-3 days after your last save so the journal automatically pops up. Turning to a page with a caught or defeated pokemon advances your frame by 2. So if you flip to that page 25 times your onto frame 50. This way you don't need to rely on the NPCs to move your frame to where you want it. Just remember that they WILL move between closing the journal and collecting the egg so you need to allow for that.

yes I know that. I did 25 journal flips before closing my journal (saved on frame 3) and collected the egg asap. although, it came out to be a frame of 55, so then i did 24 instead of 25, and i got 53 a couple time. that's when i started geting only frame 52. it is ALWAYS 52.

I find sometimes its easier to do a resave when i get frustrated like that, that way you will get a new set of NPC movements and they may be more forgiving with the time it takes to collect the egg

well i know it's not with the npc's they rarely move when i exit the journal. i make it that way (save after all 3 move at once) but ill try getting a different frame.

I'm RNGing on emerald for a feebas and I've made to attempts so far. The first time the feebas came up with a method 2 spread but the second time it came with a method 1 spread after i got the exact IVs. So my question is does feebas alternate between method 1 and 2 or is it method 1 because I'm confused on this and would like to know before continuing. Thank you for assistance
