And thanks Steveebomb7134, that was confusing me. I guess I picked Route 226 because I've been having good luck there. Logically it doesn't make much sense, I just feel better doing it there though.

EDIT: Crap, I really should have went to Mt. Coronet. Apparently my swarm of the day was Krabby, who popped up with the right IVs and nature but with Shell Armor :(

Can you just find an encounter slot for Silcoon/Cascoon and ignore the whole PID thing with Wurmple?

I have a few HP Ground Modest Spreads that is 5+ for the last digit of the PID...

I suppose that could work, but I'd venture a guess that all the frames with encounter slots for Silcoon/Cascoon have PID's that match the appropriate species whether you caught it as a Silcoon/Cascoon or a Wurmple.
 
Ok since there aren't any trainers directly in Valley Windworks, but there are trainers near Valley Windworks, will I have to worry about the frame being affected?

No Valley Windworks is completely free of NPCs.

EDIT: Does anyone know if weather affects the results of the coin flips? I know I can hit my delay consistently, and I've been trying at the summit of Mt. Coronet(where there is hail) but I haven't hit it in atleast 50 tries.

No you just Subtract 1 for Turning and thats all :)
EX:
501
Turn once -1 (no matter how many pokes are in your party)
500-2=498/2= 249 Flips
So... Actually it is...
501-3 (Sweet Scent and Turning)= 498/2= 249 Flips and Turn Once ok?
 
hey, guys. are there any tips that i should know for catching dratinis? i cant seem to ever get one. ive tried multiple different years, and everytime i hit my seed and delay and do my journal flips, i get "not even a nibble". and, yes i have checked encounter slots. i cant get one to show up on my diamond, so i need help

When selecting a Frame that matches your Encoutner Slot for Fishing Pokemon you need to make sure it says "Landed A Pokemon"

Basically you just need to sift through every frame to find one that has a dratini encounter slot that also says your rod landed a pokemon, Not much else you can do.
 
thanks guys. i wish it were that easy, and thats why im asking. every time, i fit the requirements and i fail miserably. would id, affect it at all? i havent put that in, but i never heard you need to. ill probably give it another try later, and if i can magically get "not even a nibble" of a frame that should give me a pokemon.

im gonna list the steps i do just to make sure im not overlooking things.

1. change date and time to match seed.
2. enter the game world and wait for 15 seconds before the new minute. my delay ends in 59 seconds.
3. then i soft reset and enter at :59
4. check and make sure i hit time + delay
5. im fishing so i take my frame and subtract 4
6. no wanderers
7. i then do my journal flips
8. now, at this point i have my super rod registered
9. i fish
10. every time, i get "not even a nibble" 5 consecutive times at least before something pops up
11. i am left confused and frustrated

No the only way he will advance your frame is if you talk to it which would advance by 1 but im guessing your RNG Catching something in Valley Windworks on a Friday XD So no as long as you dont talk to him just do the normal Frame-Monster Frame-Roamers/2 :)
 
Nvm I was just frustrated that my finger made me walk the first time. But I had to calm down and gently nudge the up arrow, but in the end I got what I wanted :)

Just wondering if anyone can help with shiny breeding in HGSS. I'm going by the last couple of posts from OmegaDonut, and a bit of initiative. Although I'm fresh out of initiative. Great.
I'll just post everything i can remember that I did and let you pick holes and hopefully answer some questions.


It's a new game, so I need to do my calibration:

Using Shinyfinder, entered the date (1/1/2010), average secs-delay, ID/SID, Gender Ratio, Nature - Generate. Locate a spread which has -1 Taps and a low number of Flips.

Time: 12:41:11
Delay: 493
Nature: Adamant
Ability: 0
Gender: M

Taps: -1
Flips: 2

Next, I put 5 pokemon in my party (including the parents, holding no items), and head to Mt. Silver where I save just inside. This is where I will check my delay with a couple of rare candies.
Save, synch DS, restart and enter the game, catch a pokemon and check seed. Rinse/repeat until I hit a delay of 493. Now I have 6 in my party, I fly to Goldenrod and head down to the daycare. I enter the parents:

Venusaur - Adamant - M
Ditto - Timid - N/A

Now, one parent is Japanese (Venusaur) and one is English (Ditto). Is this an issue?

Shinyfinder says -1 flips, 2 taps so I need to hatch/reject 11 eggs before the 12th one should be shiny? I've tried this twice so far, and both times I have received a Rash non-shiny Bulbasaur instead :S
Can you use RNG reporter to bring up the IVs for HGSS breeds? What specific method should I use? Would I just have to use Dppt Breeding? or Dppt International?

Ok, I need to use DPPt International. After hitting my delay again, and putting my ID/SID into RNG reporter (I was still using my Plat one before, which is why nothing made sense), I found the shiny egg on frame 13...which would mean I need to pick up the 13th one instead of the 10 + flips (2) thing.. Anyway, I made a note of each nature I hatched and got to #9 with all of them matching. So from here I decided to reject the next 3, and then save before #13. I did this, received the egg and hatched it... Naive.. the next Naive egg is on frame 15. Quite frustrated right now because I thought I'd nailed it.... anyway gotta go hopefully OD will post here soon!
 
Hi!

I have found an encounter slot 7 spread for a ditto in the trophy garden. I also talked to him again so th Ditto will become to slot 7 (previous). But When I hit the correct Delay, there´s always the same Pichu. What do I do wrong?
 
Does Fly andance the frames??
Also does changing routes advance frames??

Im planning to hit my seed in Snowpoint,check with flips and then catch stuff at Acuity Lakefront(weather).
Will that work??
 
Cool Ivysaur: Fly doesn't affect the frames but a certain amount of steps steps does (I do not remember how many).

I 've learnt how to RNG breed a while ago and I can do it perfectly by now. However, I'd like to learn how to catch perfect things. I get all the process except one part: Imagine you want to catch a Starly, you find your spread and you go to a zone where there are Starlys and Bidoofs. How do you know if it isn't a Bidoof that's going to pop out with that spread?
 
You need to decide on what IVs you want, find the seed using PokeRNG, and then check the encounter slots in RNG reporter. Check the second or third post in this thread by mingot for more info on Encounter slots.
