Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I've been testing that with someone. We tried:
My IDs then trading: Looked shiny on hatch screen. turned unshiny in summary
Their IDs: No shininess at all
My ID, their SID: It was shiny... but we did it again and it was unshiny. Was it a random "encounter" or a screw up on the second one?
My SID, their ID: unshiny

I can't think of any other way to do it...
I have done it multiple times, you use thier ID and SID, trade the egg, it will hatch normal (because the egg has your IDs still, it doesnt change til after the animation) then when you check its summary it will be shiny

Really? because that's the exact opposite of what happened when we did that...

Did the egg hatch with the correct Nature, Gender and ability? If not you messed up.
If yes, the game your trading it to has given you Incorret IDS

we're trying once more... I know I did the taps right because it was only 8 this time
And her IDs are right because I have one of her pokemon and checked them myself

EDIT: That last one, which I KNOW I did correctly, came out unshiny

When calculating a seed, I know what the delay is, but what are the seconds supposed to be? I get a TOTALLY different number of seconds every time I calculate my seed. I can get a constant delay, but the seconds are always off.

Can pokeRNG be used to search dppt breeding spreads?

Edit: And wow Luminary, thanks for that info. Knowing that earlier would have saved me so much grief -.- ...

I went through this as well. I missed the fact that "seconds" is not how many seconds it took you from reset to continue. It's literally "seconds" as in time, time on the DS clock. So if you reset at 12:00, and hit "continue" at 12:00 and 15 seconds, the seconds should be 15. If you reset at 12:00, 30 seconds, and hit "continue" at 12:00 and 45 seconds, your "seconds" will be 45. I hope this explains it.

Perhaps this part of the RNG article could be improved to reinforce the fact that "seconds" is not just delay in a different unit of measurement.

Say my target frame is 33, and is also the first frame with the desired nature. If I use a synchronizer, do I need to advance the frames?

Yes, the synchronizer modifies what the frames are. It doesn't guarantee that you'll get something of that nature. I assume since you're talking Synchs, you're doing a Method J capture. Make sure you have a synch selected in the drop-down menu in RNG reporter below Method J. This will show the changes with the Synch. Then you can find the lowest frame with the correct encounter slot (or if you're doing a legend, the lowest frame), then you advance the frame enough so that the Monster frame (2 for sweet scent in grass, 1 for most stationary legends [I'd check the guide for exact ones]) takes you to your target frame.

AHH! I had forgotten legendaries in HGSS are Method J and not Method 1 :X Thank you for reminding me.

I am RNG breeding in Platinum. My second calibration phase got me a frame of 5 each time I soft reset. My target frame is 79, so I did 37 journal flips. I got the correct delay (602). However, when I received the egg, it matched IVs for frame 80. Does this just happen sometimes or do I need to recalibrate?

the NPC's -(cowgirls etc) must have moved or added a frame. You have to be quick to get the egg. i have the same problem too.

For the more experienced users - would doing one last frame (journal flip) and letting the NPC add the extra frame when you exit the journal be a good option??

Thank you very much, that's definitely what it was. I saw one of them step right before I got the egg. I just hit the delay again right now- I hope I mashed A fast enough this time.

I need some journal clarification....

lets say I need to get to frame 6, and the last 3 pages have the "captured pokemon" thing on it.... now I flip to the previous page... that's +2... now if I flip back.... does that add 2 more?

Okay so the Mew event that is currently on for HGSS and Japanese versions of DPPt is which method? The one used to receive perfect wondercard pokémon?

Yes, it does.

I'm trying to hit a higher delay than usual and I was told that the best way to do that would be using PikaTimer. However, I fill the first line with the info requiered and click "Create Time" but nothing happens... Can somebody explain me how to use it?

You should get values in the first timer and second timer values. If you look at my post on the first page, there are some screenshots of what it should look like. If nothing happens still, PM me.

OK I have a problem
my seed was 6F000266, I was trying to RNG my Arecus.
The delay was 602
Time and date 12/23/12 00:47:44
Page flips 225
frame 511

I hit my frame twice
the first nature was careful and the second was naughty
Arecus was supposed to be adamant

I found the frame by using Dppt capture method 1.
Can anyone explain why it wasn't adamant? (I settled for naughty)
