I said it before - I think the best way to make Stealth Rock sensible is to make it treat 4x weak as 2x. So the likes of Moltres and Articuno only take 25% instead of the ridiculous 50%.

I think stealth rock would be a lot more balanced if it did the same amount of damage to everything, like Spikes. And since flying-types are immune to Spikes, have ground or rock types or whatever, resistant to the new Stealth Rock. Just an idea.

Do you guys think they will make a new status that is like burn except for special attack. I could see them doing that. And on topic, you guys act as if Nintendo is targeting us. We are the minority. The majority is all those 8 year olds who will buy the game. They really don't care what we think.

Thinking about it, what I'd love to see is a SPECIAL pseudo-legendary. I'm sure with 600BST to play with, one could create a special sweeper that could bust through Blissey, especially if it's part fighting. (Maybe Fighting/Ghost?)
Yeah, I told about it in Finnish forum too. But i think it will not be that typing. Too unique to pseudo legendary IMO xD. But i wish it could had brick break or something to deal with that fat lady. :naughty:

It should most likely have a X4 weakness. The only one to not have one is Metagross. Also, Tyranitar is the only one so far who has an unique type.

A X4 weakness to go with something special that should also be Fighting to topple Blissey? Hmm, Fighting/Poison, Fighting/Bug, Fighting/Grass...somehow I don't see those becoming semilegendary.

I'd not mind having a new version of the Regi's, Lilycove, Rival's and Deoxys's themes, though. And good old Contests.

No really, I'd buy a Ruby remake/sequel only for those.

In addition, I'd LOVE to see how a 3-D Dive would turn out.

Or 3-D Sootopolis with shading and day/night timing. Man would the crater effects be cool.

Or 3-D rainforest graphics.

Heck, Hoenn could probably make a HECK of a lot of use out of 3-D.

On the other hand, I still want this to be a new game. I WANT new Pokemon to come. And who knows: Perhaps we'll see one of the new mechanics be an 8-slot party in order to compensate for all the new threats.

Hey guys, you know how stuff on the overworld, like, virtually everything, is to some extent, 3D? You know, the whole Z-Axis thing sorta forces that.... not to mention the fact some things like windmills make it blatently obvious its 3D...

Thats what they're using the 3D Designer for, not for Pokemon sprites, for overworld stuff.

As I may have said before, I'd like for them to update the cries for the first 251 pokemon like in the Pokemon Stadium games. Keeping the same 8-bit sounds throughout the series is a bit silly imo.

But wasn't the example given in the ad a wireframe of Lugia? I think that strongly hinted that 3D artists are needed for Pokemon models.

Not to mention they obviously don't need 3D artists for things that they are obviously already able to make in 3D... but that's just the way I see it.

I'm not sure what to think about this. It's one of things you knew was going to happen eventually but it still seems to come out of nowhere if it is indeed the 5th generation. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a new RPG spin-off as opposed to an entirely new main series game.

New cries for the first 251 would definitely be on the top of my list of do-wants that seem very possible.

for the issue of semi-legendaries' typings, I simply have no idea but I really do think there's a very high chance it or they will be (at least one of them) a dragon type or a new type (if the 5th gen brings us a new type), which would be really freaking sweet. I think the legendaries can be definitely be (and I really do thin kit would be a VERY good idea to do so) fighting types and follow the Eastern themes. XD

Please, let's try to just comment on the facts. Useless speculations on new moves\abilities\Pokemon will be just deleted and infracted. Don't turn this thread into a second HG\SS spam feast. Thanks.

How about having a difficulty setting?
That way it can be easy for the "Targeted" audience and Hard for the more Competitive Audience. But Of course I mean in Game Battles not Wireless ones.
But if anything, Change the Battle cries. I am tired of hearing the 8 bit sounds like Sixonesix said, especially if they are the same for 2 different pokemon that aren't even related Evolution wise.

Its a shame that the names tell nothing about the game itself, but at least we can say its a new one not a remake.

Speculation about the names is meaningless. Claiming they'll be amethyst and opal is thrown a spanner by the fact that pokemontopaz.com is registered too. Nintendo probably have loads of pokemon{something} domains registered. And there'd be no stopping them calling the new games something like Pokemon Black (domain pokemonblack.com is currently not Nintendo's) either.

Difficulty settings wouldn't matter actually. You can make the game as difficult if you want via the options menu. Just use set instead of shift, so the battles will be more like a competitive one without knowing what they're switching to.
Also, an ingame playthrough with the set option and without using items in battles will be much more challenging. So a difficulty setting isn't really needed. Although some better movesets for the ai ingame would be better I think.

If this turns out to be 5th gen games, I'm 99%.999999 sure they are, how many of you'd like them to sort out the obvious broken type dragon, they need to balance that type out,REALLY! >_>

To all the guys who think Nintendo will balance out the Dragon type, you are in for a sad surprise, because they won't. And not because they wouldn't modify the type chart - they did in the transiction to GSC, after all - but because Dragon isn't a broken type in Nintendo's metagame. And Nintendo's metagame is VGC. As long as Dragons do not prove to be broken in VGC style (and as far as I know, they aren't as of now), they won't change it. 6 single is Smogon's metagame, not Nintendo's. And we all know that Nintendo do not give a fuck about us Smogoners

How many actual new pokemon came out with DPP?

I don't think we'll get more than 30-50 new ones; it's going to be hard to come up with something new that doesn't duplicate something they had already. It's pretty much going to be:

- Standard bird
- Standard rodent
- Legendaries
- Pseudolegendary
- New evolutions of old pokemon.
- A few new standalones.
