Messi out of the blue?
anyway Ronaldo kicks his butt anyday!
and Chelsea has lost their main keeper and they are techincally dead without their reliable Cech. Hopefully they'll slip up for United to take the lead.

discuss
We'll see about Hilario. You haven't seen the best of him yet.

About Everton, I'd say in the future they will want to stay the fuck away from Lisbon. 11-2 aggregate in their Europa League matches vs Benfica and Sporting is a lot.

And look at that Round of 16. Not a bad looker in the bunch. Hell, half of those matches would fit just as well in the Champions.
UEFA's intention when creating the Europa League was to make it much more than a second class european competition. And so far they have suceeded, big time.

People of Ajax you might know.

Martin Jol

The coach of Ajax. He started coaching Dutch amateurs and made them Dutch amateur champion. His first job in the paid football was the Dutch relegation candidate Roda JC (1995/1996-1997/1998). He saved them for degradation in his first season and in his other two seasons he had the best ones of the club history by reaching European football. Jol also won the national cup in 1996/1997, the first prize in 30 years. After Jol went to RKC Waalwijk, the club still had some sucessfull years.

He went to relegation candidate RKC Waalwijk (1998/1999-2003/2004) and made them a subtopper reaching European football after saving them from relegation, just like Roda JC.

Then he became assistant coach under Jaques Santini (Tottenham Hotspurs). Whe Santini got fired, Jol became main coach (2004/2005-2006/2007). The results improved and the second season under Jol was the best in club history, Jol was one of the most sucessfull coaches in club history. In the third season, Jol decided to quit in October 2007 after a loss in the UEFA cup.

Jol became coach of Hamburger SV in the season 2008/2009, for one season. From the 2008–09 season he began coaching Bundesliga club Hamburger SV. For the first time since the 1999–2000 season Hamburg was at the top of the league standings and finally finished 5th place qualifying for the Europa League next season. Hamburg also reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup and the German Cup which were both lost against Werder Bremen.

Jol signed a 3-year-contract for Ajax (2009/2010-2011/2012). Jol said he will enjoy returning back to his home country.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Jol#cite_note-13

Marko Pantelic

He played for Hertha BSC and did very well. The reason Hertha BSC is having a bad season is because they miss Pantelic. The Serbian international is a real teamplayer, coaching his teammates and making them better. The 31-year old routinier played for Iraklis Thessaloniki, Paris Saint-Germain, Lausanne-Sport, Celta de Vigo, Sturm Graz, Yverdon-Sport, Obilić Belgrado, FK Smederevo, Rode Ster Belgrado, Hertha BSC and now Ajax.

Gregory van der Wiel, Maarten Stekelenburg and Demy de Zeeuw

Three Dutch players playing in the national team. Van Der Wiel is an offensive playing right wing defender, Juventus is willing to pay a lot for him. De Zeeuw is a midfielder, can play both defensive and offensive. Stekelenburg is the goalkeeper and does very well.

Oleguer and Gabri

Ex-Barcelona players who played in the starting lineup mostly. Oleguer is a central defender and Gabri a defensive midfielder. Gabri is often injured.

Luis Suárez

One of the best players in club history.
Luis Suárez is the best Ajax player, wanted by Juventus, Fehnerbahçe, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Hamburger SV, Werder Bremen, Manchester City and Sporting Lissabon, bids in the winter transfer time varying between 50.000.000 Euro and 200.000.000 Euro, Ajax is very dependant on him, he is a right winger and can also be left winger or central striker, scored 24 goals in 24 games in the Eredivisie, in 10 EL games he scored 6 times (9 because of his suspention in the 0-0 against Juve, with him, AJax would've beaten Juve) and in the Dutch cup he scored 6 times in 4 matches (he was suspended in the fourth, so three). Best as a right wing attacker or central striker, can also be a left wing striker altough he is on the right or in the center better than on the left.

Sunday Ajax-FC Utrecht (In Utrecht Ajax lost deserved with 2-0, Suárez did play good but his assists were screwed by Sulejmani and Aissati, to overrated shit players, Aissati has been set out of the selection and Sulejmani sits on the bench, hopefully Ajax can take revenge against FC Utrecht. FC Utrecht is 6th now and Ajax 3th. Ajax plays at home. However, Ajax had a EL match in Turin yesterday (Juventus-Ajax 0-0, Juve better first half, Ajax better second half, Juve advances because of the undeserved 1-2 win in Amsterdam) which might have influence. Normally Ajax should be able to beat FC Utrecht at home.

Well I kinda don't know any team on major leagues called "Sporting" (apart from Sp. Braga, but everyone calls it by the last name), so I kinda don't see the need to attach the city to it.
But yeah, it's Lisbon, not Lissabon.

Lissabon is the Dutch name for Lisbon, or Lisboa as they call it in Portugal ;) So don't blame the guy, I saw bigger errors in his posts;)

Hey, it's not even my club, I'm a Benfica fan, and they are our city rivals.
But yeah, in international competitions you have to be an asshole not to support your own town/country teams vs the others. Of course that means half of Manchester and almost all of London are just that, but it's their choice.
We cool ;)

Talking about City, we have to be thankful. Chelsea-Manchester City: 2-4. That means that Manchester United has only 1 point less then Chelsea. The race for the championship is totally open

Chelsea with or without Cech is a big difference, you could see that in this match. 4 goals against in a home match is big

why do people call this soccer? It's football.... The only sport where you actually play with your feet.

Also, I think the best player actually is cristiano ronaldo.

nah its super wayne ;)
hilario was hilarious, terry was rubbish (again) chelsea had 2 red cards too LOL
cech injury really exposes them, lets hope this stays up for a few weeks so man utd can get out of sight

Rooney isn't even the best striker in the world, Xavi is the best player in the world, or at least should get more mentions alongside the regular suspects.

That Belletti penalty was really harsh.

May I ask who is the best striker in the world? At this moment, Rooney has all the right abilities to be the best striker. His strenght, technique, composure, eye for goal and passing together are uncomparable with other strikers in the world. All these aspects together make Rooney the best at the moment.

His current form is superb but David Villa is the best striker in the world imo, a fit Torres is better as well , and i would argue Drogba as well, Rooney is better then everybody else though.

He also isn't the best in any of those aspects you mentioned Drogba is stonger, Ibra and Cassano have better technique, Villa, Milito and RVN have better composure, what makes Rooney so good is he is very good at basically everything, i do think he the most complete striker.

Him and Higuain will be number one and two in a few years.

Did anyone hear about Man City wanting to buy both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres for 140 million? If that happens I wouldn't stop crying for sure T_T

Its probably a load of rubbish but liverpool would be dumb to not take that, 140 million for a midfielder who has looked awful most of the season and is nearly 30 and injury prone, and a striker that when fit is arguably the best but cannot stay healthy.

140 million could build a new team.

there were 2 terrible penalty descisons today, the one arsenal got, was ball to hand and too close to be even judged to be handball. and birminghams
2 very stupid red cards for 2 yellows as well.
ballacks rediculous lunge when on a yellow? what?
and protsmoth player gets booked for blocking a player off, then does exactly the same thing again O.O

watched MotD and have got to agree with the above poster, those penalties were pretty bad. although, if anything, arsenal had a good shout turned down earlier on when ramsey was knocked to the floor, but the melchiot penalty was ridiculous.

on the topic of ramsey, that looked like a nasty injury, but i don't think shawcross meant any harm.

Yeah, you're probably right, I didn't look at it that way. The only downside is that top class football players won't even want to come and play for Liverpool if they don't get good results this season.

EDIT: BREAKING NEWS:

19 year old Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has broken his leg during the match against Stoke City. Ryan Shawcross, the Stoke captain and defender, tackled him and horrifically injured him. This picture is so intense:

I didn't see the match but when I saw this I was immediately disgusted. Shawcross is such an asshole.
