This article is a good starting point. It also directs you to a few RMTs that demonstrate semi-stall. My semi-stall teams usually carry 1 scarfer and one sweeper/ staller (e.g torment tran, CM rachi, subcharge rotom)

Edit: actually I have my own question - how does SubCharge Magnezone perform against CM Jirachi?

In HG/SS will Pokémon that evolve through learning moves such as Ancientpower and Rollout be able to evolve before you get the National Pokédex?

Yes you have to fight Ho-oh, and yes it will reappear. What I wonder though is if the IVs will be set after the first battle and whether Ho-oh can be shiny after the Elite 4 if it wasn't before.
I'm pretty certain that the new Ho-oh has new IVs and new chance of being shiny.

Kingdra is OU...
Is it legal to get Premier Balls in any way and RNG legitimate Pokemon to catch with? It's just that the Premier Ball suits Scizor so well...
Well yeah, buy 10 pokeballs and get your premeir ball, repeat. You only get one Premier ball per time of buying 10 or more pokeballs. Then RNG for a wild Scyther and catch it. Nothing illegal about that. :)

I think he means Cherish Ball, the red one that event Pokemon come in. In which case, the answer is no, there is no legitimate way to get them.

Since the Strategy Pokedex is down, can someone recall the set (nature, EVs, moves) for a Quagsire that DOESN'T use curse?

I think it was the 'Bulky water' set.

I actually used that just a couple of weeks ago. The set is rather old, pre-HG/SS, so it doesn't contain or consider recover, but I believe it was as follows:

252 HP / 4 ATK / 252 DEF
Impish @ Leftovers
Earthquake
Waterfall
Toxic
Encore/Ice Punch/Protect

Or something very similar. Recover is obviously a great choice to have now, so you can probably run it over any of the moves in the set.

Thank you, thats pretty close to what I remember too.

Yeah, I was on a wooper breeding spree so I decided to do a competitive one in SS. Recover is probably what I'll run over Waterfall, ending up with EQ, Recover, Toxic, Ice Punch/Protect. Or maybe I should rebreed some parents and go for Encore? I have a couple of good smeargle I could clone and sketch encore+recover onto. what do you think?

Encore+Recover or just Recover?

Also, what is it with the power items? I tried attaching a power belt and power weight (Defense and HP respectively) to my parents, and contrary to what serebii said, those two perfect IVs were NOT passed down from the parents to every egg I bred. Whats going on?

EV.....

Okay so... I just recently hatched my Totodile with the desired nature (Lonely).

If I gave it EXP. Share, and had a Lv.100 Rayquaza as my front lineup.... for each of Ray's kills, would Totodile receive 100% of the EXP and Effort points? Or am I going to have to have Totdile as my front lineup and switch it out etc etc.? Thanks.

You were correct the first time.

Totodile will get half the EXP, but will get the full EVs.

EXP is distributed as follows:

Let T be the total EXP. Let N be the number of Pokemon holding an EXP share. Let P be the number of Pokemon that took part in battle. (EDIT: In both cases, and were still alive at the end!)

Then
X = T / (N + 1)
Y = X / P

Each Pokemon with an EXP share gets X EXP. Each Pokemon that took part in battle gets Y EXP. Pokemon with both get X+Y.

In the simple case of leading with a Pokemon with EXP share (eg Totodile), switching out to one other Pokemon (eg Rayquaza), then killing, the lead gets 3/4 of the EXP and the switch-in gets the remaining quarter.

Note that taking part need not mean attacking.

But since Rayquaza is level 100, isn't all of the experience rewarded through the Exp. Share?

When is Latios' nature set in Soul Silver? Right when you encounter it or is it right when you talk to Steven and he informs you that it is roaming around Kanto? Just trying to figure it out so I can see if I even should be trying to look for it with my Timid Synchronize Ralts.

Thanks!

@ Master Ball: No, it appears the EXP that would go to a level 100 is wasted. With a level 100 lead, and a low level Pokemon with an EXP share, killing a level 32 Swinub gave 178 Exp - by Bulbapedia's formula the full value should be 356.

No. 100%, I'm virtually certain. But the IVs might have been wrong, or the wrong power items to the wrong parents.

I can guarantee you that the IVs were exact and the items were attached to the right parents. Trust me, I made stupid mistakes before and ive learned from them. Maybe cantab was right about the increased chances? I did notice that the Defense IV was passed down a lot.

I also noticed that if three different IVs were passed down, one of the 'power IVs' was ignored.

as in, if defense, special attack and special defense were passed, HP was ignored.

Hello there again, I made a question some pages ago but it wasn't really answered. I will reformulate it into a more concrete question:

What speed EVs should an Adamant Scizor run? My initial question was because the analysis says 248 hp/252 atk/8 spe, but I don't see what those 8 spe EVs are supposed to outrun. The more I look, I'm convinced that it simply can't outrun Magnezone, so as my gf says "what doesn't have a solution is not a problem". So, what should it be concerned about outrunning?

Only a hunch but I'd say it happens when its first encountered and not mentioned.

Think about the mentioning of it like being the sprite you see outside of battle for every other legendary. Only when you trigger the fight does the nature/ivs get set.

Who is right?

Aura Guardian or Cantab?

Only thing that occurs to me is other scizor.
