I remember reading somewhere that there is an alternative method of trading Pokemon from one game to another without the use of two DS and involved GTS. Can someone enlighten me on this method?

From what I have thought up myself, you can put up like, a level 40 Bidoof onto the GTS. Since most people won't level their Bidoof to level 40, it'll be easy to find, unlike in the mass of lower level Bidoofs. Ask for the Pokemon you want from your other game, then go on your other game and trade him over. It's best if you ask for a high-level Poke or a legendary, as people probably won't trade a level 100 or a legendary for a Bidoof.

What the guy above said, but I advise using a friend's DS to avoid the risk of losing valuable pokemon.

is this magnazone playable in a sandstorm team?

magnezone-modest
@choice scarf
thunderbolt
flash cannon
thunder wave
magnet rise
:magnet pull

i need a last slot for my team and i figured magnezone would be a bueno choice

From the analysis:

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
Nature: Naive
EVs: 4 Atk/252 SpAtk/252 Spe

Thunderbolt
Hidden Power Fire/Ice
Flash Cannon
Explosion

Hidden Power Fire can OHKO Scizor as well as Lucario after it's used Close Combat. Hidden Power Ice is mainly for Salamence since you outspeed neutral natured ones. Flash Cannon is for secondary STAB and is your best attack against Tyranitar and Gliscor. Explosion is for killing something like Blissey or Latias if Magnezone is low on health or no longer needed.

Edit:

Besides ghost/dark+fighting, dragon/ground/fire, and boltbeam +surf/grass what combinations have great type coverage?

Ice and Ground is only resisted by Bronzong and Shedinja so add Fire and you're set. Rock and Ground is only resisted by Breloom, Torterra, Flygon, and Claydol. Steel and Ground I isn't resisted by much. Water and Normal is only resisted by Empoleon, Dialga, and Shedinja. Ice and Fighting is pretty good, too.

Hey If I'm using Diamond and my friend is using Soul Silver, can we still do a tag team in the Battle Tower on Diamond? I think you can but not exactly sure.

I don't see why not. It's the same Battle Tower and you can battle between DPPt and HGSS anyway. Why don't you just try it.

Hi, I have a couple of questions.

1. Is there any way to clone without using an AR or similar program?
1a. If yes, then will cloned pokemon from, say, your average Smogon trade thread show up on the hack check they perform at VGC?

2. Is there a thread with syncroizers up for trade/rent?

3.When a pokemon gets 'recovered' from pokerus and has the little yellow-and-red icon, does it still benefit from the 'rus?

ONE MORE:

4. Can the Event Shiny Pichu unlock the notch-eared pikachu event more than once, like on multiple games?

Dragon/Fighting is 100% neutral coverage also (Ghost/Steel theoretically resists it, but that only matters on the CAP server). Not much can really use that combo, though. Specs Luke can run Aura Sphere/Dragon Pulse to pretty good effect. You could also try a Sub-Punch Dragonite maybe.

Emerald has a cloning glitch, and there is a cloning glitch in the GTS.

Cloning does not show up on a hack check, through a glitch, or AR

Yes

Yes
Answers in bold, I don't know the answer to number 2.

also, dragon+water covers pretty much all but empoleon and...i think shedninja
water-normal also has the same coverage. On that note, fighting ice has perfect coverage except for slowbro/king, shedinja, tentacruel, and froslass ( I think)

Fighting Ice is also "walled" by Surskit but you should kill it anyway as long as you're not Shuckle.

You could try here.

Can I propose we mention that the Simple Requests thread in Wi-Fi is for evolution requests/simple Pokemon requests along with the part about using it to determine your SID? I've linked about 5 people to that thread already this week for those kind of questions.

I'm pretty sure that this has been asked already, but...

...where can I get access to a UU Server?

Do you mean on Shoddy? All you have to do is go to Smogon University, click on the Find tab, click on the drop down arrow that says Standard, and click on Underused.

How do people determine what the "best defensive" EV distribution is for a given pokemon? I'm looking for the best way to EV Drifblim defensively, but would like to know the general way for future reference..

Use this for figuring out which would be the best overall or if you want to maximize physical/special bulk. I think most sets make it so you can survive something specific so you could try running some damage calcs.

With the advent of the power items, which method is best for trying to get a pokemon with two perfect IVs or with a perfect IV and a great secondary IV, while having the appropriate nature:

1. Breed two parents with the desired IV while each holds a power item
2. Breed a father w/ the desired IV while holding a power item while a female with the desired nature carries an everstone.

Both methods work but which would you say is fastest?

I'd say breed both with power items, and keep saving before talking to the guy for natures. You'll get the right nature 1/17 times, and its better than getting a good iv in one stat 1/31 times
