I'd like to take this time to show my respect for Greinke for winning the Cy Young award. He's bounced back from depression, anxiety, and had to deal with the fact that he was a confused young man, dealing with a man's world and business, and still is the best pitcher in the majors. Kudos to him, and I'll definitely be putting him up there on the list of "Respect"

Well this hasn't been touched in a while, but I just wanted to say how badly the Jays are going to miss Roy Halladay. For his sake, I hope he wins a World Series with the Phillies, so I'll be cheering for them along with the Jays.

Fuck the Phillies too, I'm gonna find a new team. Amaro's a fucking moron, I doubt Halladay is that much better than Cliff Lee.

halladay at his best may not be better than cliff lee at his best, but halladay at his WORST is better than cliff lee's average seasons. I'm not just saying this because I'm a jays fan, I truly believe it. Even when halladay has a bad game and goes like 5 innings with 7 runs (which happens like once or twice a year at most) he still has control over the ball and throws exactly where he wants the ball to go. These bad games are either A: very good luck by the hitters, or B: the movement on his pitches is either too early or too late and the hitters can adapt better.

halladay also makes the pitchers around him better. especially young pitchers. young starters on the blue jays actually sit down and wathc halladay warm up, practice and train, so they can learn from his perfect work ethic. Philly is lucky to have halladay and will be my pick to win the world series next year

Dumb trade all around imo, the Blue Jays were forced to sell WAY low, the Phillies marginally upgraded their starting pitching (I'd take a Cy Young award winning lefty that has postseason experience any day but that's just me) and switched out some prospects. The only winner in this whole ordeal was Seattle, who made out like bandits by not giving up their very top prospects for Lee. Expect Seattle to win that division with King Felix + Lee, in addition to the Angels losing both Chone Figgins and now John Lackey. I also expect Seattle to make a run at Jason Bay since he lives out there and they have the pieces to make a postseason possible.

Speaking of Lackey, I'm really surprised Theo Epstein gave him about what A.J. Burnett got, especially since Theo rarely does more than 4 years per contract. I'm still waiting for him to trade Lowell and then flip Bucholtz + prospects for Adrian Gonzalez because getting a legitimate power hitter was more important than starting pitching.

I agree that the Jays hand was forced, but it was better than having Halladay just walk off as a free agent. Lee was going to walk away from Philly next year anyways, so I'm impressed they were able to acquire someone of Halladay's caliber in exchange for a pitcher who will likely test the free agent pool at year's end. Plus, Halladay is nothing buy good news for Cole Hamels, since he now has a seasoned veteran to take him under his wing.

Comparing Lee and Halladay is pretty tough thing to do, because you have to realize that Halladay was in the toughest division with a pretty bad team for most of his career. In Philadelphia, with a solid team and less competitive division, I honestly would not be surprised if he eclipsed 20 wins again, or comes damn close to it.

Man you deadset read my mind, took the words right out of my mouth.

if halladay is healthy, expect one of the best statistical pitching seasons next year since pedro

Nationals seem a little busy this free agency too...just signed Marquis, who isn't half bad. At this point though, how many decent players can a team add and still consistently lose?

Go BoSox

Lmao!!! Javier Vazquez traded to Yankees for Milkman Cabrera.

Man!!!!.

Red Sox and Yankees are loaded again. This is gonna be a great season through out baseball.

Jason Bay is gonna become a Mets. ;DDD

Now the question is. How healthy will the Mets roster be for 2010.

Noooo, he was the best Red Sox player in a while IMO :(

And yeah, Mets totally got boned last year. Should be fine this year though, I don't pay enough attention to them :P But Jose will be back, right?

Yeah, Reyes should be ready for Spring Training and every other injured player lol.

jason bay wasnt the best player on the sox's roster by any means, i'd rank pedroia/youk over him any day. Nice that he didnt cut and run for the yankees though.

Anyway, the sox still need a third baseman. Options are: give up the farm for adrian gonzalez or maybe prince fielder and move youk to third (dreaming), sign adrian beltre and have lowell warm the bench, or flip flop youk and lowell. Unfortunately he had to go and get injured so trading him isnt an option.

Also, a topic that hasnt been touched in a while. Where do you all think steven strasburg will start? Im thinking AA or AAA, with a may/june callup, since the nats have nothing to lose really. They dont have enough of a fanbase where they can just let him lounge in the minors, so why not give "fans" something to see (once every five days).

Agreed about the Yanks. And yeah, they're both on the whole better players...I just really liked the offensive power Bay gave to the lineup.

Lowell is annoying at the moment, he's sort of the guy that nobody wants now but can't really go anywhere, either. Awkward situation when he returned to the Sox clubhouse XD

He's really all the Nats have, marketing-wise, so starting him as soon as possible seems like a good idea. I've heard a lot of stuff about letting players develop, but I'm not sure how legitimate that is.

I just wanna bump this topic. Since it's Baseball season and stuff.

I wanted to know, is Smogon having a fantasy baseball league?

I know that was posted in December, but whatever.

Starting Strasburg as soon as possible would be a horrible idea. They do need to let him develop, but more importantly, they absolutely need to keep his arbitration eligibility as far back as possible. I mean, he's the greatest pitching prospect in history. You need to hang on to that type of thing for as long as possible.

He's not all the Nats have either. Dunn is still there, as well as Ryan Zimmerman. Then, come June, they'll be able to land their hands on Bryce Harper.

The Nats won't finish near the bottom this year. Quote me on that. Last place should go to either the Padres or Pirates.

I've been watching what I can of spring training intently. I can't wait to see the Red Sox beat the Yankees on Sunday
