I was wondering about transfering IV's with the power items. I can seem to get the 31 speed stat every time with from the Primeape I have, but I can't seem to get the 31 IV I have from the ditto.

Is there a problem? Can I only be assured one IV when I use those items? Again I have the power anklet on Primeape and the power brace on Ditto.

Thanks.

Hey guys first post here, I think this is the appropriate thread. I've just gotten into the world of competitive battling. I've read a lot of stuff and haven't assembled a team yet! I was wondering if someone could help me out. I'd like to make one based around a couple of my favorite pokemon (Lucario, Salamence, Scizor, and maybe a blissey). I looked at the team creator here and read the move sets. Just wondering where to go from here.

Thanks!

So, I think I made a biiiiig mistake. It's my first time properly EV training, and I'm trying to get 124 SpA on my lovely new Beldum. I got him at level 1 and didn't know how else to infect him with Pokerus other than by battling with him and the Pokerus carrier in my party. I battled Psyducks and killed 9 of them before Pokerus.

Now, Psyducks give 2 SpA EVs and Golducks give 4. I didn't think about it at the time, but this means I can only wind up with an odd EV total in that stat, right? Since I can only gain them in groups of 2 or 4? Even the EV-reducing berries take away an even number of EVs.

He has 121 EVs right now and I can't think of any possible way to get him the last 3 without going over. If I finish off the rest of his training (252 Atk and 132 Spe), can I then kill 2 more Psyducks and only gain 3 EVs from it? Or should I just reset the game now since I haven't saved since I started EVing? *cringe*

If you get the other ivs first, speed and attack then you can train the spA evs after as evs cap at 510

Is Cresselia a solid choice for Ubers, or Lugia is better used there? I don't see the Uber analysis about Cresselia anymore, so I was wondering...

Lugia is better. Cresselia can't really do much, and it is pretty epic setup bait imo. Lugia can phaze with whirlwind and has better typing and recovery than cresselia.

I tried searching the thread/googling but couldn't get a consistent answer.

How does using an EV item (power anklet, etc.) to breed IV's affect the IV's that would normally be passed down?

From my understanding the IV's that are passed go in the order of:
1) Any
2) All but HP
3) All but HP and Def
4) Rest are random

Does using an EV item remove one of these steps, meaning, for instance, that Hp can't pass if you're using anything but the HP item? Or does it not affect the passing at all, so you could use the items to pass HP and Defence, and then hope that that say, att, spd and sp. def are passed naturally?

Cresselia is really only useful with Groudon to make Moonlight heal 75%. I haven't played much Ubers myself but I know people have used a Groudon Cresselia combo. Otherwise, Lugia is probably better.

How come Shaymin is considered an inferior Celebi? It has overall better typing and a movepool/ability that are just about equal, minus Calm Mind and the largely situational Perish Song!

Im new to competitive pokemon, and i wanted to start my team with a metagross, i looked through movesets and whatnot and decided to go with:
PKMN: Metagross
ITEM: occa berry
NATURE: adamant
MOVES:
~ stealth rock
~ earthquake
~ bullet punch
~ explosion
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Atk / 12 Def / 8 Spe

ofcourse i started breeding them to get adamant, i did the day care level up thing so that i could find out its IVs, here is what i got

Beldum - #374 (Adamant)
HP: 20 - 27
Att: 27
Def: 3 - 6
SpA: 20 - 29
SpD: 5 - 8
Speed: 3 - 6

this one looks pretty bad, what is the best characteristic to get with an adamant nature? (for this build aswell) btw for the above IVs i check each level upto lv 10 so it should be pretty accurate.

I'm confused about the Johto Safari Zone. Do the different zones (Desert, Swamp, etc) level up, or is the blocks in the zones? As far as I can understand it, it's the zone that gets upgraded. For example, having the Peak area active for 10 days (with no blocks placed in it) will allow you to encounter Zangoose with only 6 "plains blocks" placed. Is this correct?

I didn't think zones with no blocks in them ever gained 'levels'. Once you place a block in a zone it begins to level, but if you then move that block to a different zone before a certain number of days have passed (or change the location of the zones, I believe), you'll lose the level on the block. I think once the block has leveled up it stays leveled, and you can use it for its full effects in a different zone.

I could be wrong, but I think that the blocks have to be present for the 10 days to count. That is to say, you couldn't keep it open for 9 days, add the blocks on the 10th, and catch a zangoose.

However, pokemon that take certain numbers of days to come regardless might come even if the blocks aren't around for all those days. Not completely certain.

Okay. So, then it seems like it'd be most effective to load up whatever 6 areas you feel like having with 30 blocks each (180 total, 45 of each type), and just leave them there for 4 months (130 days).

Edit: Is it simply having 1 of a block active that is necessary, or no? That is, could I place 1 tree in a single area, wait 20 days, then place 30 trees in an area and get an effective 60 blocks? Or, would the previously placed tree be the only tree counting as 2?

I'm trying to bring my Shoddy Uber Shedinja to my DS games, but I'm having a bit of troubles with the moveset. It seems I can't get my Shedinja to learn Swords Dance and I don't know how to get it to learn Shadow Sneak. Is Swords Dance a Heart Gold/Soul Silver move on Shedinja? Because I tried using the TM75 on it in Platinum and it said it can't learn it. Thanks in advance, and for the record...
My Uber Shedinja:
Shedinja @ Focus Sash
Adamant
255 Atk 255 Spe
Swords Dance
Shadow Sneak
X Scissor
Will-O-Wisp

well i had someone pokesav me some pokemon. i thought about it and decided i don't want hacked pokemon in my game in case i want to participate in a nintendo tournament where they check your game for hacked pokemon and if you have hacked pokemon you can't compete in the tournament. if i release thr hacked pokemon is my game still hacked?

If you call a Gym Leader during their rematch time to arrange a battle, do they leave the Fighting Dojo after that time is up, or do they stay there indefinitely until you battle them?

No, your game is fine, it's only those specific Pokémon that are hacked or for the lack of a better word, bad. But Nintendo sucks at checking for hacks, hence the phrase "legal hacks", so if you Pokésav a Pokémon that has nothing that would be impossible to get without hacking, it's a "legal hack" and therefore can most likely be used in a Nintendo tournament

They stay indefinitely. After you beat them, you can keep calling them to arrange another rematch in the time period that they will accept.
