Is using a sleep move on a Choice Scarf revenge killer, such as Dark Void Darkrai, Lovely Kiss Jynx, or even Hypnosis Gengar a good idea?

Are EVs shared when the experience share item is used?
Depends what you mean by shared--if you mean they're even split or just that all Pokemon get some. They aren't split 50/50 like experience normally is. When a Pokemon is holding the Exp. Share, but a different Pokemon is the one that's actually fighting, both Pokemon get the same amount of EVs as if they had fought and defeated the Pokemon.

So, for example, let's say you're fight a Zubat with an Electivire out front and a Magikarp holding an Experience Share, with neither of them having Pokerus or anything. In that case, both of them would get 1 Speed EV from the Zubat.

Now let's say that the Magikarp has Pokerus, and thus double EV gain, while the Electivire doesn't. In that case, Magikarp would get two Speed EVs, while Electivire would only get 1.

It's the same idea in reverse, if the Electivire had Pokerus, but the Magikarp didn't--in that case, Electivire would get 2, while Magikarp would get 1.

And the same thing applies for all other situations. Just treat all Pokemon as if they had fought the Pokemon out front by themselves, and that's how many EVs they gained, whether or not they were actually involved in the fight or just held an Exp. Share.

I have a question on EV training too: Say I'm battling a Magikarp with a Pokemon I want to EV train. I lead with said Pokemon holding a Power Anklet, then switch out to another Pokemon, who kills the Magikarp. How many speed EVs does my lead Pokemon receive, 1 or 5?

A Pokemon holding EXP Share will get the full EV yield from Pokemon defeated when it is in the party (and not fainted). Pokerus on the EXP Share holding Pokemon takes effect. Pokerus, Power Items, or Macho Brace on the battling Pokemon do not boost the EVs gained by the non-battling EXP Share holding Pokemon.

(It's well worth taking advantage of this when EV training. Train multiple Pokemon at once, rotating through the lead (who has the Macho Brace or Power Item), and you can halve or better the time taken to EV.)

SONOFABEEEAACH-!!! Now I have no idea what the heck is going on with Jumpluff's EVs! ARGGGH!!

Thanks, though.

It's the same idea. You're lead was holding the Power Anklet, so it would get 5--you switching to other Pokemon doesn't affect the EVs the lead gets at all. The other Pokemon would also gain 5 if it was also holding an Anklet, and 1 if it wasn't. Just treat a Pokemon as if it were the only one involved in the fight, and that's how many EVs it would have gained.

You can get a good estimate of where your EVs are by using the EV-reducing berries, just count how many times the stat reduces. If you must have the spread exactly right, you may have to wipe the EVs partially or fully.

Well, would anyone mind trading me the following berries, or helping me transfer from my pearl game? (I'm only looking for one of each. I can just grow more.)

Kelpsy
Qualot
Hondew
Grepa

EDIT: If someone is willing to help me, we don't have to do it now. We can set up a time later tonight when/if it's more convenient.

I think various actions score points, like catching Pokemon, beating Trainers, and so on. Bulbapedia will probably have details.

What thread/place can I get some specific RNG Reporter (DPPt specifically) questions answered? I'm having some trouble setting up the program and I tried searching to resolve my problems and I can't seem to find my answer. I want to ask somewhere where it is appropriate so that I'm not posting in the wrong section.

Where in HG/SS can I change my Trainer's quote? It's the quote that shows up in View Profile in the VS recorder.

RNG Q&A thread

hi
i've got a question, but first, a little backstory, which you might wanna skip:
today i was bored playing soulsilver when i decided to start looking for my legendaries to catch them. so, there i am, playing ss in the couch while watching some random movie. on the first try, i got lugia, so i'm like "awesome :D." but then, i went to the box, and the stats all looked good. so i check, and, surprisingly, all ivs are well over 25 (cept for hp, which is around 23).

So, my question is this: What would be the best moveset for Lugia?
Oops, almost forgot to mention it....nature is adamant, thats why I'm kinda clueless

EDIT: I just looked at the great wall set....it involves mostly support moves, so, do you guys (and gals) think that running that set would make sense (of course, intead of using ice beam, if at all, it would changed by something physical, wouldn't it?....avalanche perhaps?)

Well, I'd still start EV training it as if it had the Timid nature. For the moves, I'd change everything special to physical.

Thanks Naxte, just wanted to make sure :)

Those Speed IV's are specifically used with Timid to outspeed Garchomp. I really don't think a Lugia will work too well without being able to do that and if you run Avalanche, speed isn't really necessary, since it has a negative priority.

At what level of rare candying would the IVs be the most accurate for NZ Jirachi (Excluding level 100, I'm SRing for it.)

You won't know what the IVs are for sure with only one level without the Pokemon being at Lv. 100, unless you get lucky. There is an IV calculator that gives you the IV when you put in the stats for a few levels but I'm not sure how to find it.

If I show up at National Championships in Indianapolis for the Pokemon Championships, will I be able to download the Shiny Eevee, or do I need to go to a regional event?

You don't need to go to a regional event. The shiny Eevee is distributed in each event. You just need to go to the event.

Hello,

I do not know where I have to put this post so to move it to the right place if necessary.

I want to participate in the VGC but I don't want to pay for the travel and then lose in the first round. I would like to know how to make a good team for the VGC. I know that it is a stupid question but I really have to ask it. I would like advice more than pre-made teams.

Thank you for your help

Go to the VGC thread, like everyone's been telling you. They'll help you there.
