what is a good way to train for the elite four in HG? Alot of people say victory road but the level 35s give crap XP once you start getting higher level and i need to get my pupitar to level 55 to evolve it.

Here
is a decent list of the trainers you can call for a rematch on the Pokegear. Keep in mind some wont upgrade to their strongest form until the National Dex (I think) but if you keep calling them in the specified time, you can basically fight them as much as you want, and trainer battles give much higher exp. points. Good luck. :D

Train in Victory Road until your team can defeat the 1st member of the Elite Four. At that point, give one of your Pokémon an Amulet Coin and make sure they always get switched in to the battle. It doesn't matter if you lose on the second battle, you will make profit and tons of experience

ok, is there any way i can leave the pokemon league early without losing?

another question :L I have one spot left in my party. At the moment ive got Umbreon, Slowbro, pupitar, skarmory and heracross. I want to fill the last spot with a tangrowth, thinks its a good type to put there and is there any place i can get a tangela before i fight the Mahogany gym?

Tangrowth isn't worth it, it amplifies your Fire and Flying weakness from Heracross.
I would probably go for Ampharos since it's reliable and useful in-game.

true, but i have counters for those types in skarmory, tyranitar ( puptitar at the moment) and slowbro

If you're really that desperate for XP, try this:

Deposit all of your money with your mom in New Bark Town
Fight the Elite Four, going as far as you can before you wipe. Don't use any potions, revives, etc.
Just rinse and repeat, you get a lot of fast XP this way.

if i trade a pokemon from soul silver to plaitinum it comes up as it came from a far away place. if i trade it back to soul silver or heart gold will it show up where it was original caught?

I've read several articles about these Individual Values, but I don't quite get it..
What is IV, and how do I know if my pokemon has the best or the worst IV?

Minart - http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69643

sophies - yes

Mumfie - an IV is a random permanent number that a Pokémon has for each of their stats, that ranges from 1-31, 31 being the best, 1 being the worst. You can use things like Metalkid's IV calculator to determine what IVs your Pokémon has (http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/Calculators/IV.aspx). IVs are normally randomly assigned to a Pokémon, but you can sometimes influence the IVs of a Pokémon by using Pokémon with the ability Trace (if I remember correctly) or by breeding with parents that have good IVs that can be passed down to eggs.
Edit: and IVs determine what Hidden Power type you have and the base power of your Hidden Power
Edit edit: and the Pokémon's characteristic also gives you slight insight into what high IVs your Pokémon might have. A best possible characteristic for the respective stat, but not always the best, just the highest chance of being the best is: Attack - Likes to thrash about, Defense - Capable of taking hits, Special Attack - Mischevious, Special Defense - Somewhat vain, HP - Capable of taking hits, Speed - Alert to sounds

In SS at the team rocket HQ when you face the electrodes, if you run from one will they have the same stats (IVs Shinyness and Nature) or will they generate new ones? so does that mean if you encounter one then run and encounter the same one will the electrode have the same generated stats or would if have different, the reason I ask is because I need to SR for a shiny to find out my PID.

Should Zen Headbutt be used on LeadGross? Also, should Lum Berry be used over Occa Berry in Ubers. despite leadQuaza/Dialga using Fire moves?

In Ubers? Definitely not. In OU? Still no.

What are you more afraid of? Dark Void/Spore/Thunder Wave/Will-o-Wisp, or Flamethrower/Fire Blast/HP Fire/Eruption/Magma Storm? If you have a good status absorber, use Occa, if you have a good Fire type absorber, use Lum.

Thanks. I'll just sum it up to ensure that I got it right.
Let's say my pokemon has 20 HP statpoints. Would the same pokemon actually have 35 HP statpoints including the invisible 15 IVs, which is given as a permanent numer to this pokemon?

Must Deoxys-S use Lum Berry when leading either? Also, should Choice Specs Mewtwo use Flamethrower?

It almost always uses a Focus Sash from what I've seen, unless you're investing in it's defensive stats, use a Focus Sash. And Choice Specs Mewtwo should use Flamethrower for good coverage. It also gets a good boost for Thunder when Kyogre is around, the same goes for Flamethrower when Groudon shows up

No. IVs work somewhat like EVs, they don't add directly onto your stat, but they effect it by a percentage. Like if your Pokémon has 252 HP EVs, the HP stat won't increase by 252 specifically, it increases by a percentage relative to your Pokémon's IVs, base stat, and nature if that stat is effected by the nature. The same goes for IVs

(I combined my posts for you Haunter, aren't you proud?)

From what I've read (can't remember where) it can store 999 Watts, and you've hit the gift limit. Apparently any more Pokewalker connections will give you some Watts.

Mine has 1588 Watts on it right now so the limit is probably 9999 since that's the maximum amount of characters that would fit in that space.

Edit:

Got a few questions:
1. Is SD+ES Rayquaza or Pikachu viable in Trick room? I mean, they are not too fast compared to others actually.

2. What are the Special stats for a Lati holding Soul Dew?
Without SD +1 CM=1.5
SD + 1 CM = x2 or 2.25?

Sould Dew multiplies the actual stat of Lati@s by 1.5, it doesn't give them +1 in SpAtk and SpDef. So, they would have x2.25 after a Calm Mind while holding Sould Dew.

how do people teach pokemon moves? does everyone use action replay?
Competitively, most moves are likely to be taught to existing Pokémon (either via TM, via move tutor, or via the Move Relearner / "Heart Scale Guy"); learning moves via level-up is possible, but likely to be in the minority. Also, some moves can only be taught as egg moves (for many species Pokémon, a baby Pokémon can learn a few specific moves from its father, and such moves are often competitively useful).

Using an Action Replay to mess with Pokémon themselves is seriously looked down upon (to the extent that Smogonites will refuse to trade with you if you do so, and refuse to battle you unless you own up to it); using it for other purposes is more generally accepted, although I personally refuse to do so, and I imagine many other players also do so. You can certainly get along pretty well without one.

Also, a question of my own: is there any "legit" (i.e. non-Action Replay) way to clone a 4th-gen Pokémon, such as Farceus, who owns the Classic Ribbon (and thus can't be GTS-cloned)?

nope. install it, build a team, go to the ladder, and have fun ;)

you can buy it from the battle frontier exchange service counter, but i'm not sure for how much...i think that it may be 48 BP. but if you really want to find out how much, go up to the woman who runs the exchange service and ask to exchange points, and then scroll down until you find choice band; it will then tell you how much it is.

o thanks for the insight! So if my pokemon were to hold amulet coin, would I get double BP?

earning 3 BP each time after 7 battles is a hassle. ugghh...

amulet coin does not get you double BP and the battle factory will get you 5 BP per seven battles, most BP of all 5 facilities.

if grass knot has a base power of 60 or less, does it also get boosted by technician?
